Yea Peppercorn Hotel
Food was very tasty, steaks were correctly cooked, & meals came promptly. Good selection on the menu & the wine list was pleasing, especially with an emphasis on more local wines. Great rustic décor & friendly, attentive service.
Sunday lunch with my partner, drove from Chirnside park and had a major detour due to roadworks.
Ordered Cheesey garlic bread, ribeye steak (medium).Fillet steak (medium). First of all the cheesey bread had NO cheese on it and very little garlic.
Steaks arrived in good time, partners steak was perfect, mine however was overcooked to the point of being grey in the middle. Waitress said she would replace it. Meanwhile partner was tucking into her desert. Eventually my replacement steak arrived and was perfect.
Loved the ambiance of the place, would we come again? Not sure about that.
The venue and food were great. Unfortunately the service was unwelcoming and lacking. At no stage were we asked if we wanted a drink or to view the drinks menu. Maybe because we were dining with 3 young kids? The waitress dropped some of my child’s meal, about 2 nuggets and some chips so not a big deal, however she apologised and said she would replace them and never did. Disappointing.
Wonderful food lots of choice and lashing of food. Great ambience and very accommodating waiters and staff. Will be back.
I gave 2 stars because the eye fillet was medium to well done when I ordered it medium rare. It came with veggies which were very tasty but not a lot on the plate. Children's cheesy pasta I thought was a take on a mac and cheese. All my son got was boiled pasta with a sprinkle of shredded cheese. Definitely not $9 worth. Beers were good. Since there are other pubs in town I'll be trying them them first before returning to this one.
loved it! Nice food and atmosphere at a good price
We had a wonderful evening with great food, great wine and great company.
What a surprise. Lovely place to have dinner thoroughly enjoyed our evening staff amaxing. Tables not close together which is great & fantastic food. We will stop there again during our travels
Excellent people and food and value for money. Owners and managers very acomodating and helpful. Very nice town in very nice area in a nice part of VIC. Garden room was very large and very comfortable. Good provisions for self made continental breakfast and no sweat to do it.
The food was delicious. I especially loved the Israeli salad which was a surprise choice on the menu. The service was attentive - just right. We had a somewhat noisy family on the table next to us, but all in all it was well worth the drive from Melbourne.
I have been visiting Yea for the past ten years on a regular basis and always make a point of having lunch or dinner at the Peppercorn on each occasion. I have never been disappointed with the food and I love the atmosphere. It's opposite the old historic railway station which is interesting in itself and the Peppercorn was the old Railway Hotel many decades ago.
Great peaceful environment with wonderful food and relaxing drinks lounge
Really enjoyable afternoon! Beautiful surroundings, lovely staff & service, delicious food!
Our group drove from Melbourne and Benalla and enjoyed the quiet surrounds and very pleasant interior of the restaurant. Good service, good food selection and great wines.
We would recommend the Peppercorn to our friends.
Lovely place for a special meal with friends or family. Fairly quiet given the location. Visually stunning place inside especially. Intriguing musical instruments on some walls- ok- guitars which took my fancy. Q is that the original tailpiece on the Ibanez jazzbox? Mission will be complete if i can know the answer.
Seriously though we had a wonderful evening and i do recommend the Peppercorn wholeheartedly. Hard to top.
Very cold inside and the service left a little to be desired but overall a very nice place for dinner.
Delicious meals and lovely cosy venue to celebrate our 20th Wedding Anniversary.
Very enjoyable lunch with friends. Good service and good food in very comfortable surroundings.
10 out of 10
Great atmosphere, tasty food. Though there was an incident where my menu selection had ran out. I was disappointed. It was 12 o’clock on a Saturday afternoon but they apologised for the ordering mishap from the kitchen, and my next selection was lovely.
Free wine tasting and live music in the comfort of an open fireplace was gorg with great ambience. And kids played and were welcomed by the locals! Great afternoon and worth the 1.5 hr drive!
An extremely underwhelming experience - disappointing after hearing good things. Waitress did not smile once from the moment we were seated in an awkward corner, away from the warmth of the fireplace (even though there were tables free) till the moment we paid the exorbitant bill. Food wasn't presented in an appetising way and the taste was average. Perhaps the chef/owners have changed recently??
We stayed at this hotel and decided to have dinner as well. Before we were seated we had a drink at the bar, the service was great. We then went to the dining room for dinner and again the service was great. The menu was good and both my husband and I enjoyed our meals. Would highly recommend
We do not want to say too much as we am trying to keep The Yea Peppercorn a secret . As we really enjoy this place along with our friends . Love the laid back and relaxed atmosphere along with great food and of course a nice drink .
Beautiful place very quiet and cosy place lots on offer great service
A beautiful way to celebrate our anniversary having lunch back at the scene of our first date!
Food was absolutely superb; not cheap but worth every cent.
great food and service and a lovely warm atmosphere
Delicious snapper, lamb shanks and chocolate cake! Warm and cosy dining room with a fireplace and friendly atmosphere. Rooms were clean and comfy with great hot showers. Not far from beautiful bush walks like Wilhelmina Falls.
