We went for the afternoon tea ($35/pp x 4 adults = a lot)… it was a proper English tea (we’re English) - the food was fantastic, the server was wonderful (and Scottish)… the Tea is in the room with all monarchy paintings in it, and it was a little tight because there was a party of 8 that wanted to sit together (?), so they had one big table in the middle which screwed up room for everyone else, BUT it was definitely an experience, and enjoyable. Don’t forget to stop at the shop next door for your overpriced hobnobs and other imported stuff - some things you can get at Cost Plus World Market, but others you can’t!

Have been to Ye Olde Kings Head restaurant many times throughout 2 decades. This recent visit was by far the worse. In past visits, I always order the fried fish and chips and clam chowder. This time because the waitress raved and recommended it I ordered the poached cod with champagne vinaigrette. While the presentation was nice, upon tasting the fish dish, it was too salty and the vinaigrette tasted more like plain vinegar Just Horrible and inedible. My waitress disappeared and nobody bothered to check back with Me if the food was satisfactory. I had to flag down a server and signaled him to call my waitress. My waitress was MIA, another mature waitress shows up. I expressed my dissatisfaction and she gives Me an attitude. I insisted on rejecting the fish dish and wanted speaking to the manager. The same pudgy waitress returns with my check which was adjusted, the fish dish was removed from my bill. Lesson learned, I will ONLY order the fried fish and chips here. It’s the most popular item and has high turnover, for freshness. The poached cod in salty vinegar NOT so much. I didn’t like the fact the waitress was argumentative about my rejecting the dish and questioning Me. I’m the diner and I know what I don’t like and it’s NOT that fish dish. Left the restaurant, still famished and unhappy about the overall dining experience.

Love this pub as a Brit it’s our go to. But this time (with reservations) after being seated and 15 minutes went by without being acknowledged I had to flag a busboy and a waitress to get another waitress come over. At least acknowledge customers who you can see have been seated for awhile and obviously closed their menus with no drinks or even water. Also there was a large party of soccer fans seated in the restaurant who were extremely loud and yelling. I will say it was probably the worst atmosphere I’ve ever had there. Our waitress was good through the meal but then we waited awhile for our credit card to be picked up. Sheesh 🤦‍♀️. The shop next door is a must to get a soft serve cone with raspberry sauce for dessert….. ask for a 99er and pick up a bag of British goodies 😋 🍦 🇬🇧

Hadn’t been there in about 10yrs. It was better than I remember. The dining area was seperate from the loud bar area which made the birthday event so much more enjoyable for everyone! The food was great and the prices fair. But the best of all was our server Rosie, she ricked!!

I booked the Traditional Tea Time here for day date and the service was great I don’t know the waitress name but she was so sweet and full of energy will be back to book again ! The tea was great and the bites ! The decor perfectly goes along with the Tea Time .

My wife and I both had the fish and chips, and we got a side of slaw. My wife, who does not frequently eat batterd food, found the fish to be delicious and extremely fresh. The wait staff was very attentive and personable, helping me choose which beer to select from their expansive list.

I understand it was Mother’s Day and they would be busy but even with a reservation it took 15mins just to check in after being ignored. Once seated we were ignored again couldn’t even just get water for my 5 year old son. After waiting 20 minutes my husband went to the bar just to get water and the bartender was so overwhelmed he still couldn’t get served. We witnessed another customer arguing with a server over hair found in his food. So after 30 minutes waiting we decided to leave and had to find somewhere else near by to celebrate our Mother’s Day. The restaurant is in serious need of a manager to help make things run smoother and should have been checking the reservations before people arrived to see if they could even accommodate the requests people had made. I love kings head, Been coming for my whole life but they were under prepared and couldn’t care less. The restaurant still had empty seats outside and has been busier for sporting events….Why they couldn’t handle Mother’s Day is beyond me.
