Yashin Ocean House
Our sushi concept is “without soy sauce – but if you want to”. Of course, we can serve as much soy sauce as the diner desires; however, what we want to emphasise is the taste of the fish. Therefore, each piece of sushi that we serve is brushed with the right amount of soy sauce and topped with an accompaniment that harmonises with the flavour of the fish.

Had a new waiter that made our usually amazing experience very stressful and disappointing
We've been to the restaurant a couple of times for dinner but finally got to try the bottomless brunch and it did not disappoint! Good selection of appetisers including sushi, sashimi, dumplings and bao buns. The seared salmon nigiri with truffle was a particular favourite. The included main options were a little basic (chicken or salmon teriyaki, or prawn or vegetable tempura), but that is not surprising given that the brunch is £60 per person with unlimited starters. There are also other options if you pay a supplement. The house champagne and sake were both great and the top-ups were indeed bottomless and frequent! The service was also great as always. We would highly recommend this restaurant and the brunch is excellent value. We'll definitely be back!
It was a really nice experience. We loved that it wasn't as crazy and loud as similar locations in Soho and the food was absolutely delicious!

Great food and best service! Staff are friendly and warm. Thank you! Will come again for sure!
Amazing Place, amazing food and amazing experience. Thanks for surprise me with birthday dessert
Fantastic and creative prix fixe menu.
Fantastic European inflections to Japanese cuisines. The wonderfully liberal use of truffles and subtle use of cheese went well with the fish.
Service was atrocious. It took 45 minutes for our tempura to arrive. Our waiter obviously forgot to place the order and then told us it was late as things came in courses. Never realised tempura was suppose to the desert course.
The tasting meal was excellent, the ambiance too quiet and calm ... probably because the restaurant was relatively empty.
Service was appallingly slow. Omakase sushi was sweaty.
Amazing restaurant! Outstanding food and great ambiance
excellent food, great deco and atmosphere, good noise level, very friendly service. quite expensive
We had a great experience at Yashin Ocean House. We both had the tasting menu, which was delicious. We also got the alcoholic pairings, which were nice but pricey for what you get. If I were to go again I would order the tasting menu and share a bottle of wine. Staff were very friendly and made a fuss of a guest celebrating their birthday.
I have been to yashin several times including Kensington one. This time I was a little bit disappointed because sashimi for carpaccio wasn’t fresh as first grade restaurant. Besides taste for Eggplant was cook too much or didn’t like so much fresh. I had had very great experience at Kensington all the time so that kind of disappointing.
For request for the Kensington one please consider adding new item to your menu regularly for regular customers. Thanks.
Dear guest, thanks for your feedback specially including new dishes, we have regularly new hot dishes and also sushi or sashimi, please let us know know your next visit and we will make sure you enjoy fully some specials. Yashin Team
Terrible decline in quality and service! Regret wont return to this former favourite neighbourhood spot. Food was so bad we had to cancel remainder of our order halfway thru meal - and these were all dishes we regularly had before and were familiar with so what has changed? Seems cost cutting at the expense of quality both in food and staff. All new waitstaff who had no training in basic service. If this is what’s going on in front of house, one can only imagine what’s happening in the kitchen! Sadly ist this rate it’s now likely that yashin ocean house will follow all the past restaurants that have come and gone at this same location “the curse”
Dear Anonymous guest, thank you for your time and review. we are proud of our food quality and service, We are known for our great quality Sushi and food in general, great quality at all times, if you have any genuine additional comments you want to share with us please email us and we will follow up. Went to their Sunday bottomless champagne & sake brunch, and enjoyed every minute of it. Service was wonderful. For the main, we chose the salmon teriyaki and the prawn tempura. Salmon was cooked perfectly, and the tempura was unforgettable.
Very chaotic delivery of food. Need to work on that. People generally like eating at the same time.
We had the adventurous tasting menu which was excellent and a different way to experience sushi without soy sauce. The wine menu was also excellent.
Most likely the best Japanese restaurant in London
Tokyo resident and craving Japanese food whilst in London, so visited Yashin Ocean House on friend’s recommendation. Not too bad for London Japanese food, but horribly overpriced and average quality in comparison to the real deal...guess that’s London for you.
this was my 2nd visit in a few months and I was disappointed again. Whilst the staff are welcoming, the room is a bit sterile and the service was fine but hit and miss: they forgot lemon with the water, for example. Sadly the food was bland and the tempura prawn in the roll was not hot. Not worth £50 a head...
Some dishes were OUTSTANDING, sashimi-lunch platter was outstanding.
BUT then I ordered a spicy-tuna handroll, which is served with delicious tuna and spicy sauce, but the seaweed used for the actual roll is super chewy and clearly below standard.
My wife ordered a soft shell crab roll, and was served cold fried crab, a bit unusual, and the fried crab legs become chewy.
Should of course be served freshly cooked.
For some reason last time we went to Yashin Ocean House we thought it was not as good as the other Yashin. But our recent experience shows that this is not true! This Yashin is great!! We loved it.
OpenTable's various star ratings don't capture the full experience... Lunch was great in terms of food (service was decent), but there was food prep for dinner going on just behind the counter where we sat, and scales from the fish flew over the glass onto our portion of the counter, plates, hands, and clothes. Also, patrons should be aware that the space is very echo-y and likely to be loud at dinner / drinking times. Yashin Sushi (sister restaurant, near High Street Kensington) is smaller and quieter, and prep is handled in a different area.
Our booking was for 6:15 and we arrived at 5:50. It was surprising to be sent away and not offered to sit somewhere in the restaurant/outside to wait until opening or when the table was ready. The doors were open, staff were all there and ready, 1 receptionist was going to seat us but someone came to send us away. We walked around the block for 10 mins in light rain just to kill time.
Never been sent away by a restaurant before.
Food was very good, very interesting take of Japanese cuisine and was good enough to make the lack lustre experience palatable at the price point we were dining at.
Service during the meal was fair, not good nor exceptional. One waitress was very attentive and had good knowledge of the food, serving us the candy floss black cod, however the other staff seemed quite unmotivated and a bit brash for a restaurant such as this.
One little detail that I did not like which stood out during the meal was one of our main plates had a 1cm chip on the edge of the plate. It is not like the rest of the dishes were presented to be 'rustic', everything is well polished, good art on display etc, so it was poor attention to detail to let a damaged plate out serving one of their £26 mains.
When we left, the manager or someone more senior was right at the door with the receptionists. Both his hands were leaning on the counter as we were approaching him and the door. He said thank you and goodnight but it did not occur to him to open the door for us which I found odd.
I wished the overall experience would have been warmer, more motivating and captivating as the food was great and interior design was pleasing to be in. For the £££ you pay, excellent service is necessary, many more restaurants at the price point leave you feeling like a valued customer.
I would go back to give it 1 more go but at a push.
Creative Japanese dishes, beautifully presented in a vibrant setting. Good choice of fish and meat dishes. Definitely try the tuna carpaccio with truffle jelly! Service was a little slow but otherwise ok. Quite pricey, but that’s due to location, so expected.
Hot food came cold, specifically the tempura which was soggy and cold. Umeshu served as 50 shots which is unheard of. Sushi decent but not worth the prices. There are better places with the same prices.
Awesome sea urchins
Food excellent, like this place for lunch and dinner.
Went with my son on a Sunday night. Definitely a pricey evening and should be seen as a destination dinner venue. Everything was quite lovely save for the face of that semi disco euro beat music in the background. Too many “fashionable” restaurants do it and don’t realize it’s not pleasant background music.
The food was as usual excellent. A wonderful way to spend a Sunday.
Piuttosto deluso: le portate non sono state servite contemporaneamente a tutti noi; avevamo chiesto del black cod e dopo una mezz’ora ci hanno detto che era finito...in altre occasioni non c’erano mai stati problemi. Una giornata no.
Dear Adf45, thank you for your feedback, unfortunately last Saturday and due to a huge demand of Hot dishes and a misunderstanding between Kitchen and front of House end up with some delays on the food and also some stock out due to the freshness of our products, we will keep work hard in order to avoid lack of communication on the products quantity and availability, thanks for your preference and looking forward to see you soon. Yashin Team
Very good as usual. We did notice the roll of the day is now only 4 pieces instead of 6.
Glad we chose to eat here. Looked at other Sushi places in the area (Chelsea) on a Saturday night and they were already full. Moved over to Yashin and quickly got a table and was not disappointed. It was pricier than what I normally pay in the US, so be ready for that, but was worth it. Expect the cost to be around 40-50 pounds per person.
Food was great, service pleasant and helpful. Some long gaps between courses at times (we had the tasting menu) but would go back and also recommend it
Dear Derek, Thank you for your fantastic feedback. We are happy to hear you enjoyed the quality of the food and the service. We hope to welcome you back more often!
We had the tasting menu and was delicious. Service was good; although one of the ladies was not very confident while explaining the dishes and had to reconfirm with one of the chefs on few occasions. That was fine with us since she was very pleasant and was smiling all of the time.
Dear Sanja, Thank you for your feedback, really great to hear you enjoy the menu and also a opportunity to keep developing our staff in order to create great experiences to our guests, looking forward to seeing you soon. Yashin Team.
An amazing experience of such novel menu! The presentation of each dish was remarkable!
Receptionists are hopeless - table service very good. Portion. Size a joke for price
Very nice evening. Chef puts his mark on every course of an excellent tasting menu. Equally fine sake choices. Highly recommend this Kensington place.
