Wonderful service, amazing food, authentic and delivious
My friend & I wanted to go for lunch & happened to be parked right by Yara. The menu & photos looked great so we decided to eat here. We were greeted by the owner who was very welcoming & kind. He gave us recommendations on the menu & we decided to have the Mahamara for an appetizer which was delicious. For entrees, I had the beef shawarma dish & my friend had the lamb chops. Both dishes were fantastic! They were seasoned well, cooked to perfection & they were good portions. We both agree that we’d definitely dine here again!
Outstanding in every way, from food to service to the warm, welcoming staff.
The place was full and vibrant. The interior deco is sophisticated. Food is very good.
The service is ok, given the universal shortage of servers everywhere. However, they tried to add an extra bottle of wine to the bill for a party of 2, which would not pass as an "honest mistake". You should watch out for such sneaky moves.
The yara mixed grill entree was so delicious! The steak was cooked to perfection. The hummus was amazing too! All around great dining experience.
Return visit, and good as ever. But as it becomes popular, the noise level is getting high.
Authentic Lebanese food -- not "fusion" Lebanese, but actually what you eat in Lebanon -- with terrific service in a beautiful environment. Really can't ask for anything more.
The best Lebanese food in the Big Apple.
Our vaccination cards were barely glanced at when we arrived.
Appetizers were very good and chicken, steak and lamb shish were good. Pita was awful and cold.
Service was too fast (main course was served long before we finished appetizers) but very slow when we were finished.
When we pointed out these setbacks to the owner, he offered dessert to take home. We politely declined and then he said he would take care of us “the next time”. I’m pretty sure there won’t be one.
We were in NYC for a theater weekend and were looking for a restaurant outside of the theater district. We were so pleased with ‘yara’. It’s a beautiful dining room and the food, and service was excellent! We’ll recommend this restaurant to our friends and we’ll visit ‘yara’ when we’re in NYC again.
Did not care for the loud background music and the painfully loud music played numerous times to celebrate individual birthdays.
This is our second visit to yara. The food is terrific. I especially love their Lamb and Okra. Their tabouli is fantastic, too. The best part about this restaurant is the friendly staff. From the front of the house to the servers, we always felt well cared for.
Our server was a little abrupt; she brought dessert menus while people were still eating.
We had to ask for silverware and plates for dessert, which she brought…, along with the check. She quickly took off afterwards, so maybe she was in a rush/had an emergency but it would have been better to have a different serve attend to us then
Absolutely delicious food and attentive service . The environment is conducive to conversation
Perfect! Beautiful atmosphere, wonderful service and great food!
Everything was amazing! The Vegan menu is outstanding
Positives : food was tasty and nice wine selection including a couple Lebanese wines that went well with the food
Negatives : our server was nice but we had a horrible interaction with the host ( / maybe she was also a server?) at the end of the meal after an insane wait for our entree.
Ordered numerous small plates + one entree. Small plates came out fast - they were pretty solid overall. Fattoush and the labneh were excellent. After we had stopped eating those (and waiting to enjoy the delicious dips with our entree) we sat, ignored for about 20 minutes. Assumed kitchen was backed up but finally asked about our Shawarma and we were told “it’ll be here in a second” and then our waiter went to the computer to, I assume, fire the dish he had forgotten about. It arrived 15 minutes later after we had sat for almost 40 minutes with no communication about what was going on. Numerous other tables that sat after us received their whole meal before we got the shawarma.
The second we finished, the host / other waiter brought us our check. No offer of dessert, coffee, etc. we asked why she didn’t offer those and she told us the kitchen had closed at 9 so we couldn’t have any. It was 9:06. And no one had told us the kitchen was closing. And if we hadn’t waited 40 minutes for Shawarma we would have been fine. We expressed our disappointment - we don’t venture out often during Covid times and had thought this looked like a wonderful place to have a nice meal. We were bummed about the wait and lack of communication. She then blamed the kitchen, rolled her eyes at us, and basically said “nothing I can do” and walked away.
I have worked in restaurants - I know stuff happens. This seems like an honest mistake - forgetting to ring in or fire the main dish. But just take accountability and try to do something to make it better - not sure shrug your shoulders and walk away. This interaction was a huge bummer :-/
Excellent food and atmosphere. The tastes were incredible and the best hummus i have ever had.
Loved this place! Staff was so accommodating! It was my friend’s birthday and they gave us a nice unexpected surprise by playing bday music and giving us a nice desert.
Excellent all around! Service couldn’t have been any better! Superb!
Lebanese at its best. Owner is a class act. Please go!
lamb/rice/vegetables were great, service was very nice and the dining room is attractive. Prices are a bit steep but that is the story of every restaurant in Manhattan these days. Definitely a great place for lunch.
Lovely experience. Good food and wonderful setting. Service great and food clean and fresh. Good go to for meeting friends
Great neighborhood gem with authentic, delicious food. The vibe is casual and fun. The staff are welcoming and attentive.
I asked to eat outside, and their arrangement outside was not good
Great food and wine!
Food was substandard and their pita bread was horrible
The following is NOT a paid political announcement ; this is a genuine "peace" of the Middle East. Flavorsome, varied and highly recommend visiting - and eating
This restaurant is a gem. Delicious and authentic Lebanese food with a variety of choices. The ambience and decor is just perfect and classy.
A hidden gem on the upper east side. The owner couldn't be sweeter! We were a large group celebrating an occasion and the owner was so nice. Great variety of vegetarian and vegan options. Service could be improved with more wait staff. Seemed a bit slow to get the attention of our waiter as he balanced multiple tables.
We arrived early for our reservation, so we decided to go down to the romantic bar lounge in the lower level. Although the bar didn't open for another 20 minutes, the maître d' and the barkeep were more than happy to serve us early. The drinks were phenomenal. We then went upstairs at out reservation time, and were promptly whisked away to a very intimate table for two. They allowed us to rearrange the table so we can both sit on the booth side. The food was excellent. Although the price is midrange, the amount of food made it worth it. Our server recommended a perfect wine to pair with our meal based on minimal input from my date and me, and recounted the history of the wine, and an anecdote about why they thought we would enjoy it. The night was a memorable one, and I would highly recommend the establishment.
While food was good, service was slow. I had to wait more than 10mins to be seated despite arriving at 1140hrs for a reservation at 1145hrs and there were no other customers! Music was too loud and there were only 1 server for the lunch crowd!
I have ordered take-out several times and the food is always FANTASTIC!!!! I thought it was time to go into the restaurant. Admittedly, we were the early group and it seemed a bit lonely but by the time we finished, more people arrived. I will make this one of my MUST RETURN restaurants. KTU
Food was excellent. The fried cauliflower appetizer was amazing! Highly recommend
The most delicious Mediterranean food in the city, with service and comfort to match.
Great food, loved the beet falafel
Loved the Beef hummus and the wonderful salad, perfect with pita chip croutons and a delicious seemingly homemade dressing!
A little longer than normal wait for the main courses but overall is was very good and recommended
Love this place! Wish I knew about it sooner!
Best lemon sole in NYC, wonderful falafel beautiful space.
