Yanni's Ratings and Reviews
Yianni's is a hidden gem of authentic Greek cuisine. Dined here three times in recent weeks and each time was a great all round experience. You will see many Greek staples but the chef gives many of them a unique twist - this is not your typical "Greektown place". Grilled octopus and calamari were fresh and tender. Taramosalata was smoother and creamier than you might expect but with perfectly balanced flavors. The star of the show was the BBQ lamb. Believe me, this one's "the bomb" - and don't be fooled by the name. There's no smoking involved here, just slow roasted lightly flavored lamb that simply melts in your mouth. As A Greek who's had more than his share of lamb over the years I can confidently say this is one that I'd travel far and wide for. Deserts are fairly close to home - all good, but with one superstar: the bougatsa (which strangely was missing from the menu last time around - looking forward to its return). Exceptional food, attentive service, and very reasonably priced. Yanni's deserves to be "discovered" by everyone.
It was New Years Eve, but that's no excuse for rushed, impersonal service. Mixed drink was bad, and when waiter was told, he ignored it. Waiter gave no explanation of menu items, although other waiters can be heard explaining to nearby diners. Main course was served while appetizer was still being eaten. Could barely get waiters attention for an iced tea. No personality whatsoever. Although food was good, there's plenty of other Greek restaurants to get same or better quality with better service.
We will not return.
This was our first time there . Five star. We'll be back on my birthday next week. My stomach is a picky eater but the waiter was very patient and suggested what to eat. He was right and kept checking on how I liked everything. And this was all during a packed house. New Years Eve..
The food at Yanni’s is great! This restaurant is our go to for a nice dinner for date night or when family visits. However the service is so hit or miss. We’ve been to Yanni’s at least six times since it opened and at least half the time the waiter has seemed so miserable to be there, their low energy attitude definitely ruins the night a little luckily the food usually makes up for it.
Food and service were very good. They let us take our time so that we could visit. All of us loved our food. They were patient with the many questions we had about the menu. We all had a great evening. Only downside was it was quite loud in our area. It's very hard to find a quite restaurant nowadays.
5 of us Saturday night. I normally don’t write reviews, but this experience was not pleasing. The meal was fair at best. I love Greek style chicken, this was terrible. The appetizers were ok. The service was terrible. Our server took our order wrong, brought us one more dinner then we ordered and was surly at best. The pricing was very reasonable, but we were really disappointed and will not return.
I have now been there a few times and the service is hit and miss. This was probably the worst service ever with many mistakes and way too many apologies. While the waiters were very friendly and running like crazy, obviously short staffed and more. What is really unfortunate was that upon leaving we politely told the manager who said he knew about all the mistakes at our table and hoped we would give them another try. If he knew, why did he not personally apologize during dinner and at least offer something like a round of drinks or desert. Will still go back because the food is so good but not as often.
Six friends meet for dinner regularly and enjoy trying new restaurants. Four of us had been to this location previously and were impressed with the updated decor and with the food. The first time we were warmly greeted by the valet and the host stand staff, but our server was not so friendly. The bartender was also a warm, welcoming professional.
This time we had a much more enjoyable time due to our friendly, efficient and very accommodating server. He accomplished this is spite of also handling a huge party of probably 20 people at the same time. Regretfully, I do not recall his name.
The only downside was being seated in a less desirable back room right below a wall heater that almost continuously blew hot air over our group.
We will look forward to returning.
This was my first visit and I probably will not return. The restaurant was very noisy and service was slow. They should turn off the Greek background music or turn it way down. My Norwegian Salmon from the daily specials menu was dry. The roasted potatoes were good and I liked the baklava for dessert. Prices wth the ala carte for a salad was on the high side at about $30.
This was my first time at this restaurant and I was quite impressed. The restaurant had a feel as if I was in a Greek taverna in Greece. Our waiter, Sam, was very good and made some nice suggestions. I had the whole grilled branzino, per his recommendation, and was not disappointed. My companion had the rack of lamb and she said it was one of the best lamb dishes she had ever had. The wine list was primarily Greek and nice. I had the house rose' and it was delicious. In the end, I would highly recommend this restaurant and can't wait to go back.
Food was fine, but service was horrendous. I don't generally complain but-Forgot a wine glass but delivered the carafe of wine. Brought the hot appetizer, but never the 2 salads(asked to come at same time). Brought bread, never the spread. Salads showed up about 2 seconds before main dishes arrived, so we declined them. No side vegetables left (Sat nite at 8 pm), so substituted roasted potatoes. They were cold and shriveled. Asked for fresh and they were immediately delivered, and were piping hot and delicious. Manager sent complimentary dessert plate, and had already sent an appetizer to us at the onset cause we waited 30 min for our 7:30 reservation. Also, packed up the original salad to go (didn't ask for this), cause he felt bad. Might go back, not on a Saturday, cause food was very good.
