Yanni's Ratings and Reviews
Yanni’s is a favorite spot for us in the summer because they have a great patio. We missed our summer spot so we invited friends for dinner the other night. The service was slow. Our waiter took so long to bring us more wine- we probably would’ve had another round if he had brought them in time. 2 of us got the branzino and the waiter was supposed to debone the fish but left half of the bones in the fish. I ordered dandelions and I could not chew them they were so hard. Even the dessert was lacking. The yogurt mousse was ok but the bougatsa should’ve came with ice cream as we’ve had it there before and when I asked the waiter he looked at me like I was crazy. Maybe this was just a bad night or just a bad waiter but not sure if we will go back.
We are always very happy with the food, service, and ambience of Yanni's. Everyone is friendly, helpful and kind. The free valet parking is so convenient, and its usually pretty easy to get a table in a timely manner. We usually use Open Table. We live in Glenview just minutes from Yanni's, so this was a great place to eat even in yesterday's snowstorm.
Had a reservation at Yanni's before our evening movie, food was tasty as we had the sea bass.
Service was not great, our waitstaff seemed overwhelmed, we had to ask other staff to find him so we could order dinner as well as try to pay our bill.
We where over charged by almost $30.00, which delayed us longer to get items we did not order off the bill.
We felt disappointed by the service and the overcharges.
We went for a birthday celebration, and indicated that when we made our Open Table reservation. There was no acknowledgement of that once we got to the restaurant, neither from the hostess nor from the waiter. That was disappointing (why ask if there is a special occasion if restaurant has no intention of recognizing it?).
We remembered the grilled octopus from our last visit as something sublime; this time it was not as crisp--bordered on rubbery. Kalamari would have been a better choice. The sea bass was grilled to perfection. The chicken baked in fillo dough sounded very appealing, but it was too heavy a dish.
Yanni's ambiance is very clean and bright, but our dining experience was significantly lower than the last time. We'll give it one more chance.
Yianni's is a hidden gem of authentic Greek cuisine. Dined here three times in recent weeks and each time was a great all round experience. You will see many Greek staples but the chef gives many of them a unique twist - this is not your typical "Greektown place". Grilled octopus and calamari were fresh and tender. Taramosalata was smoother and creamier than you might expect but with perfectly balanced flavors. The star of the show was the BBQ lamb. Believe me, this one's "the bomb" - and don't be fooled by the name. There's no smoking involved here, just slow roasted lightly flavored lamb that simply melts in your mouth. As A Greek who's had more than his share of lamb over the years I can confidently say this is one that I'd travel far and wide for. Deserts are fairly close to home - all good, but with one superstar: the bougatsa (which strangely was missing from the menu last time around - looking forward to its return). Exceptional food, attentive service, and very reasonably priced. Yanni's deserves to be "discovered" by everyone.
It was New Years Eve, but that's no excuse for rushed, impersonal service. Mixed drink was bad, and when waiter was told, he ignored it. Waiter gave no explanation of menu items, although other waiters can be heard explaining to nearby diners. Main course was served while appetizer was still being eaten. Could barely get waiters attention for an iced tea. No personality whatsoever. Although food was good, there's plenty of other Greek restaurants to get same or better quality with better service.
We will not return.
This was our first time there . Five star. We'll be back on my birthday next week. My stomach is a picky eater but the waiter was very patient and suggested what to eat. He was right and kept checking on how I liked everything. And this was all during a packed house. New Years Eve..
The food at Yanni’s is great! This restaurant is our go to for a nice dinner for date night or when family visits. However the service is so hit or miss. We’ve been to Yanni’s at least six times since it opened and at least half the time the waiter has seemed so miserable to be there, their low energy attitude definitely ruins the night a little luckily the food usually makes up for it.
