About Yankee Pier Lafayette
Yankee Pier, a bustling and vibrant seafood house, offers chef Michael Dunn's ocean-fresh seafood "fresh from coast to coast". Local seafood, sourced in accord with the Monterey Bay Aquarium's Seafood Watch program, which promotes sustainable practices that are healthy for ocean wildlife and the environment, is presented with a nod toward New England. Live Maine lobsters, fresh-shucked oysters, an array of grilled fresh fish, and beer-battered full belly clams are some of the offerings, along with local produce, house-made desserts, a selection of all-American wines and a full bar.

Yankee Pier Lafayette Ratings and Reviews
We have been regulars at Yankee Pier over the years and keep coming back. Overall a very solid and enjoyable meal. We especially enjoy the service from the same staff over the years; too many restaurants have turn-over on staff; here you feel welcomed and "at home" by the familiar faces of Yankee Pier.
We went to this restaurant to celebrate Valentines Day. The service was warm, personal, efficient, and non-intrusive. This is primarily a seafood restaurant. The seafood ceviche appetizer was perfectly spiced, refreshing and plentiful. The dunguness crab cake was mostly crab and served with a spicy remoulade sauce. The linguini with clam sauce was underspiced and could have used some more garlic, spices and seasonings. The Maine Lobster was wonderful and served with roasted potatoes and sauted spinach. The apple cobbler desert was great.
I am a regular at Yankee Pier and feel obligated to repay their excellent bar, food, and table service with a glowing review. They had six choices of EXCELLENT Pacific northwest oysters. Ours were so fresh the taste was authentic and clean. Of course, oysters vary with the season. The YP salad of lettuce, apple, pecan, roquefort is excellent, as is their Caesar. My friend raved about the clam chowder with bacon. I debauched myself with their fried shrimp. This is the only place I order fried shrimp anymore. They are fresh, succulent, sweet-tasting, not briney, large. OMG Good! I enjoyed another of their spicey margarhitas with jalapeno pepper slices that I then diced into other portions of my meal. We were not rush, had comfortable seating, and once again were totally taken care of by Jacob. Highly recommended for fresh seafood, grilled or fried.
We have enjoyed the Yankee Pier for some time now as they have excellent seafood and a friendly, attentive wait-staff to help us. We are always pleased after having eaten there and plan to return frequently. I am hoping that I have written a sufficient number of words for this review.
We used to love going to Yankee Pier and did so on a regular basis. That was until it was purchased by the Piatti Group. They changed the menu and significantly increased the prices. We decided to return the other evening and while we thought the food was good, it was not good value. In addition, there was little to know ambiance, something we look for in a neighborhood restaurant.
Had the petrale sole and the mashed potatoes, which were delicious, as always.
Began with a dozen of the BC oysters, which also were terrific.
Saved room for the lemon meringue pie, and next time will definitely be trying the butterscotch pudding -- the house specialty!
Very good food and great service! Everything was a little slow getting to our table (drinks, food, bill, etc) but it seemed a little busy so I didn’t mind too much. The server was so sweet and everything was delicious. I recommend the clam chowder and the ceviche tacos!!
The food is always great. The service was very poor: the server came up to our table and asked "what will you have?"; no "hello" or the market prices, etc. The salad came right away, but the wine orders came back after our entrees were 1/2 way done. The entrees took at least 15 minutes and were cold. I really like YP, but this server needs to be fired.
We first tried this restaurant for a special occasion dinner of lobster and have been back many times since over the years. This is our favorite local restaurant because the food and service is consistently excellent. We never hesitate to recommend this restaurant to friends and relatives. The ambience could use some updating, but the food and service are the stars.
Our first visit and when I made the reservation on OpenTable, I wrote that it was my husband's birthday. We both were not that hungry so we shared a main entrée, which was a shrimp louie, which was presented to us, split on two separate plates. Before our entrée was finished, I showed our waiter the message I left on Open Table regarding my husband's birthday. He smiled and asked if we wanted to see the dessert menu. We chose two different desserts. I assumed the restaurant or the waiter would have offered a free dessert for my husband for his birthday, but when we got the bill, we were charged for both desserts. I was surprised at this as most restaurants offer some type of complimentary dessert for birthdays, so I was a little annoyed as why bother mentioning an occasion. For one entrée, 2 non-alcoholic drinks (coke & ice tea) 2 desserts, our bill came to $62.79, then we left a 20% tip. I thought the prices were a bit high. Not sure if we will return.
