The staff was very accommodating, the service was outstanding and the food was excellent.
The bartender (and wait person all rolled into one) was delightful and attentive. That's the good news. Bad news? Food. I ordered scallops on a bed of risotto and the risotto was runny and soupy. Scallops were okay. I ordered a side dish of brussel sprouts and they were horribly over cooked and, frankly, inedible. I think my friend was happy with her fish and chips. My martini was EPIC. Just the way I like it...cold and dry. I wish Yankee Pier could do a better job with the food because I live close by (Orinda) and would definitely go regularly if the food was edible.
As usual, YANKEE Pier was spot on with service and great food. It’s why I go back over and over again.
There arn’t too many great east bay seafood spots outside oakland. This is an exeception. Superb oysters, chowder and shellfish. Wonderful service.
Clam chowder is always great lots of clams great bacon flavor hearty and rich. The scallops were perfection shrimp and chips always good. Don’t miss dessert the bread pudding melted in your mouth
I was disappointed with their clam chowder soup.
I think I may be spoiled since we can get great clam chowder soup in SF. The sole and blackened cod was delicious. I also enjoyed their double IPA on tap!
Enjoyed the Crab Louie’s!
My friends and I always have a great evening at Yankee Pier. The thing I like most about it is the food is very good and they don't have servings meant for a lumberjack. Also, our server was very efficient and friendly. Good job!
We have been to Yankee Pier multiple times, and always enjoy it.
We have been regulars at Yankee Pier over the years and keep coming back. Overall a very solid and enjoyable meal. We especially enjoy the service from the same staff over the years; too many restaurants have turn-over on staff; here you feel welcomed and "at home" by the familiar faces of Yankee Pier.
We went to this restaurant to celebrate Valentines Day. The service was warm, personal, efficient, and non-intrusive. This is primarily a seafood restaurant. The seafood ceviche appetizer was perfectly spiced, refreshing and plentiful. The dunguness crab cake was mostly crab and served with a spicy remoulade sauce. The linguini with clam sauce was underspiced and could have used some more garlic, spices and seasonings. The Maine Lobster was wonderful and served with roasted potatoes and sauted spinach. The apple cobbler desert was great.
Valentine’s Day lunch because we couldn’t get dinner reservations anywhere. It was fun and special anyway!
Always consistent and the service is truly exceptional
I am a regular at Yankee Pier and feel obligated to repay their excellent bar, food, and table service with a glowing review. They had six choices of EXCELLENT Pacific northwest oysters. Ours were so fresh the taste was authentic and clean. Of course, oysters vary with the season. The YP salad of lettuce, apple, pecan, roquefort is excellent, as is their Caesar. My friend raved about the clam chowder with bacon. I debauched myself with their fried shrimp. This is the only place I order fried shrimp anymore. They are fresh, succulent, sweet-tasting, not briney, large. OMG Good! I enjoyed another of their spicey margarhitas with jalapeno pepper slices that I then diced into other portions of my meal. We were not rush, had comfortable seating, and once again were totally taken care of by Jacob. Highly recommended for fresh seafood, grilled or fried.
We have enjoyed the Yankee Pier for some time now as they have excellent seafood and a friendly, attentive wait-staff to help us. We are always pleased after having eaten there and plan to return frequently. I am hoping that I have written a sufficient number of words for this review.
Great food. Our server Shaun was the fantastic. Have been to Yankee Pier many times. Great place for seafood.
Yankee Pier is a go to place. Service is amazing. Food is always fresh and so good. We all loved our food and will be back soon. Restaurant is always clean!
Fabulous experience, great fish, service was excellent, will definitely be back 😊
Good lunch menu and an extensive wine list. I had fish tacos, which were cooked to perfection. My friend had the clam chowder and warm beet salad. Also really good. I want to try the beet salad on my next visit.
Order crab Louie nothing but lettuce and crab. Could have a beets or tomatoes or a vegetable on it. Crab didnt have any taste. Friends fish nd chips were ok. A lot of batter she said.
Delicious seafood and great sides. The service is excellent and they have plenty of parking.
Please bring back those awesome biscuits with your special jam. We locals loved this side and suddenly poof! Gone.
We used to love going to Yankee Pier and did so on a regular basis. That was until it was purchased by the Piatti Group. They changed the menu and significantly increased the prices. We decided to return the other evening and while we thought the food was good, it was not good value. In addition, there was little to know ambiance, something we look for in a neighborhood restaurant.
Wait staff is excellent! Food was hot, tasty and good size serving. Fish there is fresh and sides are great. All in all, a very good experience. We go there about once a month.
Had the petrale sole and the mashed potatoes, which were delicious, as always.
Began with a dozen of the BC oysters, which also were terrific.
Saved room for the lemon meringue pie, and next time will definitely be trying the butterscotch pudding -- the house specialty!
Very good food and great service! Everything was a little slow getting to our table (drinks, food, bill, etc) but it seemed a little busy so I didn’t mind too much. The server was so sweet and everything was delicious. I recommend the clam chowder and the ceviche tacos!!
kitchen staff needs to pay closer attention to detail BEFORE a plate of food is sent out, also the server should LOOK at the plate before presentation to the diner/customer! The sliced avocado on the top of my salad had obvious large black spots on it!!
A wonderful Sunday lunch. The food was delicious and the service magnificent. It was my second visit there and I will be back again!
Brought my wife here for our anniversary. This place is the best. Always fresh tasting seafood and they keep a great selection of oysters.
I put in my reservations that it was my son's birthday, but no mention of it was ever made. I have been to this restaurant many times and put messages about a family member's birthday, and it's usually acknowledged.
my fish tacos were undercooked, and tasteless. My wife's crab Louis had watery vinegar instead of creamy thousand island and it was bad. They tried to fix it. Ugh!
Thinking about removing YP from our Friday night rotation.
Awesome as usual!! The food was delicious and the service was superb!!!
Go here often. One of our favorites. Always fresh seafood. Service is awesome
We had a bit of a wait for our table, but the manager was great in keeping us posted about its/our status. He also bought dessert to apologize for the delay. Our waiter was friendly, helpful and efficient, and our meal was very good.
I loved it it was so good. The food was great and the service was so great too. The owner came around twice to see if we were enjoying our food didn't linger I just asked a question which was really nice. I'm gonna go back there again.
The owners appear to actively work in the business. Very nice people and the food is delicious as well.
I’ve had dinner here about five times now...I think it keeps getting better each time. Very nice seafood selection.
We had an excellent lunch. We were late for our reservation but they still held a great booth for us. It was a pleasure to just sit and relax after a prolonged doctor appointment. The management went above the norm.
Food was excellent. Disappointed with seating - very small two-person table with no view, even though there were plenty of other tables available - felt crowded. Restaurant did not acknowledge we were celebrating our anniversary.
The food is always great. The service was very poor: the server came up to our table and asked "what will you have?"; no "hello" or the market prices, etc. The salad came right away, but the wine orders came back after our entrees were 1/2 way done. The entrees took at least 15 minutes and were cold. I really like YP, but this server needs to be fired.
