The legendary Yankee Doodle Tap Room has a long standing tradition as Princeton's destination for gastropub dining. Featuring an American grill menu and recognized as the central meeting place, there are over 19 world beers on tap and a variety of wines and specialty drinks. Seasonal seating is available in front of a cozy fire place or alfresco style on our patio in the heart of Palmer Square. Six large HDTVs broadcast sporting events year round.

Named after the mural painted by Norman Rockwell, which resides behind bar, the Yankee Doodle Tap Room's historic charm includes the carvings of past guests in the solid oak tabletops, and the famous photo gallery of notable Princeton University graduates from the past century.

Service was a bit slow - it felt like we were forgotten more than once during the meal. No refills on water and such. It looked like they were slammed and did not have enough staff on

I actually am sick to my stomach from what I was served. I ordered bagel and lox on their brunch. It was oddly colored around the edges, which I cut off. I should have been told that they don’t serve it often and it was spoiled. My mother in law said the pancakes were inedible. I guess this is a pub just for pub food. Lesson learned.

The restaurant was filthy. There was food all over the floor. Our drinks came out in dirty glasses that had food on them. Our dinner was burned. Definitely not a good experience and I would not recommend.

We went for the Flying Ivories piano entertainment. That was spectacular. We had so much fun. However, no wait service in the bar detracts from the experience and the food was painfully mediocre. We would not go back for dinner unless we really wanted the entertainment being offered.

We had a delightful time until a large group showed up. The acoustic in the lower ceiling area is terrible when there is a very loud group of old friends meeting there. It made us regret not asking for a high top which is not comfortable for us at our age but definitely a better alternative to being unable to hear each other speak. That said we had the best ahi tuna salad we have had in recent history. Prices were extremely reasonable.

During a recent visit to Princeton, we visited the Tap Room because they had several gluten free options. Great decision. My husband enjoyed the GF baked chick stuffed with risotto. Far from boring, this was a great choice. I had the short rib bucatini which was meltingly tender. We saved room for dessert and I tried their unique pumpkin cake with maple syrup drizzle. Amazing. My husband had the creme brulee which was good but was unfortunately the only GF choice. We plan to return . Great pub vibe.
