Yakuza staff are very welcoming. The drinks and food come out in good time, and the waiter explained the specials well. The hamburger is really good. The ribeye was pretty special, I don't think they serve it all the time. The little potatoes on top were crispy and delish. The Trio sushi is good too. I had the tiger roll and it was pretty spicy. Sometimes we sit at the bar. There were families there with little kids, tho they don't have a kids menu there is something for everyone. My only complaint: The miso soup was a little too mushroomy for my taste.
We went during happy hour for a quick date night. Such great food, we tried pretty much everything haha. So happy we stumbled upon this place!
This was our second visit to Yakuza and we enjoyed every delicious bite! After having stumbled across the restaurant a few months ago while bar hopping with friends who were visiting from out of state, we were wowed by the freshness of the sushi, the inventive sides and the Yakuza burger—we would say the best in Portland! We couldn’t wait to go back. Again, we brought friends to share the experience, having raves to them about Yakuza. We all enjoyed it. The atmosphere is super cool, with moody lighting, lovely bar and beautiful murals. The large windows offer a great street view and, it appears that, in summer they are able to roll up doors off the bar to open it up—I want to return for that experience.
I'm a little bit obsessed with the yakuza burger right now. The salmon tataki and tuna poke are also great. All 3 salads are top notch. Great food all around.
The Yakuza Burger is to die for. Almost ruined sushi for me: )
So great for kids!
We've been here both as a couple and with a large group including children. Both were great experiences. Good place for sushi newcomers since the menu has so many other options. The hamburger is to die for. Go ahead and try to order only 1!
Great food. Staff were nice to our kids. Will go back when we visit Portland again
Love this restaurant for date nights or going out to dinner with friends.
Food was great, portion size small to average. We did shared plates between four of us and one of our plates was the scallops. Apparently you get three bite size scallops in an order and we said to our server “Really? You couldn’t have just squeaked four onto our order so we could each taste one?” To our surprise he was back a few minutes later with a forth scallop. How sweet. The poke was excellent. Great server and great service. We would go back.
Our family of four (2 boys ages 10 and 13) always love Yakuza. Their menu never fails to impress and they are always good with our kids, who love to explore the backyard outdoor area, which is great for dining on warmer nights. We had dinner before a performance at the Alberta Rose Theatre.
It has been several years since I have been back to this neighborhood restaurant with its lovely low key Japanese style interior. Our Sushi and Sashimi dishes were very good but what really stood out were the pork ribs which are simply as good as they can possibly get. The hamburger was just as good as my fond memories of it. It is almost a meal in itself and is a very intricate preparation. The Crowley Pinot Noir at $13 went very well with our meal and was reasonably priced
wish the ribs serving would be longer as that's the key foods we are going for, and sometimes it run out even at 7.30pm.
We're from out of town (San Diego). We found this place 4 years ago and so enjoyed it that we made a special effort to go back once again for dinner.
Wonderfully prepared sashimi and sushi!
Great sushi! Tempura ice cream for dessert. A “local” pub with Japanese food and drink. Great spot.
The food was wonderful. Interesting sushi and a wonderful burger. The space is cool. Beautiful murals. Great time. Thank you.
From the time we walked in, till the time we left. It was spot on. I don't ear sushi often, but hands down the BEST. I've ever had.
One of my favorite places in the city. Everything is well thought out and well prepared. Everything is good.
I don’t usually talk badly of a restaurant when the service is delayed but this place had been around long enough
I had business visitors from out of the country and Yakuza was the perfect place to take them!
The service, the atmosphere and the food are consistently excellent at Yakuza. This has been my favorite restaurant in Portland for years and they never disappoint! Thank you!!
Amazing food!!! Chefs care about what they make with real quality flavor!! That burger is to die for!!!! Not a single complaint!!!
Excellent food. Yakuza and spicy tuna rolls are always tasty. The radicchio salad was a standout. An expanded wine selection would be nice.
Super attentive and instant service
Food flavors exotic and exceptional
Loved the experience
Outdoor patio was fun and relaxing. Food was great and most of the wait staff was very pleasant and accommodating. One woman delivering the food to our table was very abrupt and never smiled. We didn’t let it ruin our meal because everything else was great.
Went on recommendation of a friend. If we lived in the area I think we might go back, but not worth a drive across the river IMO as we have a lot of options closer with as good if not better food.
Always a nice place to dine in good weather especially. One of the prettiest patios in Portland. The poke was delicious, but it's the burger that brings us back.
Great outdoor space. Food is tasty
The food was amazing as usual, it seemed to take a super long while for cocktails and beverages to arrive, but other than that, it was great!
We’re not from the area. We loved the neighborhood and restaurant! Happy hour was great! Food was excellent! The gentleman that helped us was extremely attentive and accommodating. A lovely relaxed evening! We will return when we’re in the area again!
THAT KOBIE BURGER IS TO DIE FOR...YUMMM! THE AMBIANCE IS VERY NICE FOR ROMANTIC EVENING DINNER
Went for Mother’s Day and the food was great. Service was good. The burger lives up to its hype.
Went for happy hour at 5. Food was delicious, highly recommend the burger. Service was attentive, but food a tad slow. Overall not surprising as we got there literally as they opened and almost all the other tables were filled within 5 minutes.
Great dinner, with something for everyone. It's best to figure on sharing your food, since each dish arrives as it's made. We ordered about 12 different items for 6 people (with a few duplicates), and each dish was delicious! It's a bit loud for my taste, but I'm in my 60s. I think the younger folks didn't even notice the noise. And the service is very good as well.
Yakuza Lounge delivered as promised by the many great reviews. I felt a little weird ordering a burger at a sushi joint, but I had to find out for myself. And holy smokes was it worth it! I also had the 'Very Spicy' cocktail and it was fantastic. Just the right amount of kick to let you know it's serious, but won't ruin your meal. We also had a couple rolls and they were just perfect, in a kind of sushi-fusiony way (and I know some will cringe at the usage of the word 'fusiony' but too bad). I'd argue that you couldn't order anything bad on the menu just based on this one experience, but I'll definitely be finding out for myself every chance I get. You know it's good when you want to hug the chef (that cooked that burger, for sure).
Yakuza combines NE Portland neighborhood warmth with contemporary Asian sophistication. The menu was creative and delicious. The servers provided just the right amount of attention. My friends and I loved it and look forward to returning.
We saw this restaurant mentioned on a food network tv show and decided to give it a go. I cannot say enough good things about this plavr. Our server was top notch, the food was amazing, the ambiance the best I've ever experienced! If you can't tell, I loved this place and will definitely be back!
Excellent. Just heard about it recently.
Been here several times and I'm NEVER disappointed! Service is great and food is better! Creative dishes which please the palate....one of my favorite restaurants in Portland. Cocktails are tasty and sharing dishes is even better.....
