Our drinks didn't come till the second course... Boo! Best burger ever, and everything else was yummy.
We went to Yakuza for Dining Month and had a wonderful time. Kale salad, salmon roll and the burger, what could be better. Sat at the bar, had wonderful service and enjoyed watching them work in the open kitchen. This is one of our go-to local places always fun and worthwhile!
The Open Table listing, and the restaurant's web site, need to disclose that seating is family style (not for everyone, including my wife and I).
Yakuza lounge has one of the more interesting Happy Hour menus in town and also a great and varied dinner menu. The food is tasty and fresh and service is fast and friendly. If the menu looks good to you, you will be very happy you dined here. It's affordable enough you could eat often here and the portions are large and splitable. Really a great PDX restaurant.
Imaginative Japanese/Northwest fusion menu, good drinks, great service, welcoming space.
Always a good evening and quality food with creativity
We had a great time with friends in this cozy relaxed restaurant. Hannah, our server, was sweet, professional, and attentive! Sarah, the manager, was quick and generous in her response to a minor situation. The food was very delicious and we will be back soon! We’ve been telling our friends about this place, and look forward to the summer when we can eat in the outside area!
We had a wonderful time! My friend Gina just became an American citizen so we where celebrating that. I had asked Yakuza for an American flag to accompany her food which they did, best part ; it was a homemade flag done by one of the employees, so thoughtful and unique!
What a perfect way celebrating Gina at Yakuza with such great service and the absolutely best burger in town! 🙏
Enjoyed it but never probably return. First to arrive in restaurant, many right behind us. Very cozy, nice flowers and clean good vibe. Ordered appetizers and burgers and few other items. Ordered Asahi beers, many other tables served before we had anything brought to our table, food all arrived at once and still no beer, maybe 20 minutes after ordering, very poor service like reviews said . I left a $20.00 tip on $90.00 tab, generous for poor service, we didn’t order happy hour, maybe should have, Karage undercooked, burger good flavor but way overrated and overpriced. Definitely no Japanese working here, they would be ashamed
Creative and delicious small plates. This is a special restaurant.
This place is inventive, fun and quite tasty. We grazed off the appetizer menu and also had some sushi. The burger and the pear sushi was excellent. The fried chicken bits were mediocre. The edamame was delicious but a complete mess to eat. Service was attentive and warm. Place was a nice modern, local charmer.
Will be back.
Food was decent, but overpriced. Burger took a long time to come out of the kitchen so everyone was finished eating by the time it arrived.
Amazing amazing food!! Fun to share lots of small plates and try all the yummy dishes!
I Just Always Love it Here. All of it.
Great food and great ambiance - service was a little slow, and hard to get ahold of - but overall good!
Impressed. Food is delicious, fresh and full of flavor... Ambiance is lovely, just what I had in mind for a casual date with the husband. We will definitely be back!
Food - chicken kaarage, babyback ribs, sushi- was fab. Ambiance was fun. We will be back!
This was my second time eating at Yakuza and it was definitely 2/2 on delicious food. Unfortunately I had to mark it down because of a rude hostess. I'd have taken away all stars for service if not for an exceptional recovery by our Server and the Chef.
Last Sunday my group of 4 got caught up in the scheduling pressures of NYE dining. We grabbed the only reservation available at 5pm. The food was EXCELLENT! While early in our meal the hostess came to our table to disclose that the table we were sitting at was reserved for another party in 30 minutes. I totally understand the need to move people along but we were by no means working slowly through our meal. In addition there were at least 4 open tables visible around the restaurant. Approximately 15 minutes after her statement, attempting to be cognizant of their reservations, I asked for the check. The bill came promptly and the hostess took that as a sign that it was okay to start clearing the table. Much to my chagrin, in her haste to clear the table she took away the last two bites of my friends burger without asking. When we mentioned it to our server he was very apologetic and immediately signaled the Chef who sent out a small plate of ribs. This pleasant surprise was equally delicious and a very nice touch! It saved the entire experience. Unfortunately the hostess although clearly involved in conversation on the matter with the server never apologized or even acknowledged her mistake. In fact she seemed avoidant at best while we were leaving taking a bit off the overall eating experience at Yakuza. The restaurant is such a hidden gem. I'd hate to see it suffer at the hands of a single individual having a bad day.
The Yakuza burger lives up to the hype.. also the tuna roll. The tempura scallops looked great but flavor and texture left something to be desired. Service and ambiance are great.
Service and food was amazing as always
Great cozy ambiance and everything we ordered was delicious.
Contemporary Asian/Japanese but also best burger in town.
Truly wonderful. The food and service added to the fun of two ole friends getting together to catch up, talk and laugh.
I always love coming to Yauka Lounge for their burger, cocktails, and sashimi or sushi. The ribs are delicious and I'm glad they have reintroduced the haystack scallops. They are also delicious...order them.
This is a great date spot too for you romantics out there.
Fantastic. Never disappoints! The burger is so delicious.
Entertaining cousins you barely know can be a challenge, but mine were SO happy I took them to Yakuza. We laughed and ate for hours and never felt rushed by the staff. Food was great, cocktails were great. I was very pleased they had Aria gin. Yakuza added to a great memory of a special visit.
A great neighborhood bar / restaurant. Go for a generous food/drink happy hour - and try the Japanese fried chicken!
We tried this place as part of our 2017 restaurant fun card and also we caught the end of happy hour. There were four of us and since the card deal was one free plate with burger, we shared a burger for each couple and several of the other plates including Poke and Yakuza roll. We also had grilled corn plates and popcorn snack. All food was good and the burger was one of the best I’ve had in Portland. The poke and roll were very good too. Mixed feelings at the table over the fishy flavor profile of the butter for the corn and also added to the popcorn. I think I’ll be back for the burger. I’d like to try some more plates next time. I highly recommend this place. Service was good, but not spectacular; but in this town any good service is spectacular
My six member Happy Hour group rarely ventures far from downtown Portland but agreed to venture eastward on a rainy October night. We were rewarded with delicious dish after dish, expert cocktails and service that was perfect. Yakuza Lounge is cozy, candlelit and quietly intimate. We were nestled among couples and foursomes who could actually hear one another exclaim over excellent food and drink. Selfishly, I'd like to see larger groups reserve the large table in the back room or the good weather back gardens. Yakuza wouldn't be listed among 'cheap eats' but it was worth every penny. We particularly loved the poke, the ribs the amazing scallop 'haystacks' and the various rolls we sampled.
Great burger, tasty!
Very expensive for what you get.
Fabulous food, you must have the burger they will split it 4 ways.
Yakuza is my favorite go to for my birthday and every chance I get otherwise. As an Interior Architect I appreciate the conceptual design as well as artistic murals. Look forward to a group event one day in the suite that opens on the rooftop. Creative food and cocktail combinations are wonderful. Personable interactive service.
Outstanding Japanese-inspired creative dishes. I highly recommend the scallop tempura, ribs, poke, and any of the sushi options. Definitely a great place for foodies, and part of the amazing food scene in northeast Portland.
Delicious food as always! They forgot an order I made early in the evening. Not a big deal but got it late and they didn't offer to fix the situation. So it seems it's ok to provide so so service. Also, they ran out of some liquor that I asked for. Again, the food is great but service is always mediocre.
The Yakuza Burger was Phenomenal. Cannot wait to go back and pair it with sushi in the future an take advantage of the rest of their awesome menu.
Was very disappointed in this place. It was one of the values on the Oregon entertainment, restaurant addition card. Unless you knew what Japanese food was you had no clue what you were ordering. The menu was typed on single sheet white paper. There were no graphics to give you an idea of what you were ordering. They are extremely expensive for what you got. I ordered scallops and got 2 for $12. My husband ordered Sushi 9 small pieces on a plate. Not even on a bed of rice. He was so hungry that we added a hamburger on. Could be a good restaurant with a little thought.
We sat on the back patio...highly recommended to sit there, as it's quieter and a bit more private. Our waiter was very attentive and had good recommendations for the food/cocktails. I'm vegetarian and enjoyed the chilled ramen, while my teenager said the burger really is ALL THAT....best burger she has ever had. Thanks! We'd go back...
