A4 Japanese Wagyu
Epic dinner! The wagyu was buttery and oiishi and great sake recommendations. Uni shooters stole the show. Had to reorder. Cannnot wait to go back!
Wonderful experience. Truly recommended!
My experience was amazing. The service was outstanding, and the owner even came out periodically to check in on us and make sure everything was ok. The food was also some of the best I’ve ever had, with great variety ranging from an assorted seafood bisque to beef short rib (although the chicken was my favorite). I also felt like the pricing was very good and I would definitely recommend the Hachibei’s Special Course. If you are in Honolulu and looking for an exquisite dining experience you should definitely check out Yakitori Hachibei.
Best robata. Nothing is dry and overcooked. The skewers all have amazing flavor. I enjoy their other dishes as well and people with all sorts of dietary restrictions can find something to eat. The staff is very helpful and friendly.
Excellent food and service. Very tough to make reservation. Recommend to make reservation at least 1 month ahead. Not in the best neighborhood. The chef that grills all the skewers is very professional and patient.
This restaurant is totally beyond our expectation from every perspective.
Best dining experience on Oahu. Everything was incredible!
Everything was delicious! There is not one dish I would complain. Must try beef tongue!! Definitely will be back again on our next trip in Hawaii.
This was the second time for us at Hachibei - we were here a couple of years ago on a previous trip to Honolulu. Expectations were high given how much we enjoyed it last time. We were not disappointed! The yakitori is spectacular. Especially the Tsukune. The A5 wagyu nearly brought me to tears. My partner thought the calamari was the best she’s ever eaten - and she’s from New England!
We’re ordered so much from the menu and it still ended up being less than $200. The service was attentive and professional ensuring that we were kept from running afoul of my partner’s soy allergy.
The only piece of feedback I have is that it would be nice if they offered Sake by the bottle.
Try their omakase experience - chawanmushi is amazing.
Not knowing they have outdoor table, sitting outside is noisy and dusty. Food is excellent, remember to book a inside table.
Awesome service and food. Will definitely be back.
The yakitori is as good or better than what you can get in Japan. The attentive service is always excellent.
This is our go-to place in Oahu. Visited Hachibei 4 times in recent two trips to Oahu in 6 months. Service is always fantastic. You might have been to ‘great’ yakitori places, however, if you want to tell the difference between those ‘great’ places and a ‘perfect’ yakitori, come to Hachibei.
Best restaurant in Honolulu! Food is amazing, service is great.
At Yakitori Hachibei, dinner is always an experience from food selection to 5-star highest level service. Their attention to detail is amazing when it comes to their service. These are just few reasons why we became a regular since they opened in 2017!!
If you haven’t been, this is a must restaurant in Honolulu, Hawaii!
The staff at Hachibei are always so attentive and prompt. Service was top notch and to top it off their food was excellent. Fresh and high quality ingredients prepared with care. Thank you again for another great dinner
Robert, your yakitori-ya is a great addition to the Chinatown scene. We will be back. Arigato gozaimasu!
Food is perfect! Be careful, outdoor sitting can be really hot
Absolutely the best in Honolulu! Have never felt a more welcoming environment.
The food was amazing but I ended up spending $300 on dinner for me and my wife. That’s a crazy amount for some meat on a stick. Should update to say price is $$$$ not the two it says it is.
We won’t be back unless I win the lottery.
Excellent food!!! Come here if you want authentic Japanese Yakitori!
Tried a dish we'd never had before, the Surume Ika Gushi, which is squid prepared a grilled way. I preferred it to the Hachibei Calamari, although both are delicious. We also tried the Sori gushi, which is a ball of chicken in the shape of an oyster, with a chicken skin layer, grilled to perfection. Yum.
We have eaten yakitori many times throughout life, including some Michelin rated spots in Tokyo. We were looking forward to this dinner very much but unfortunately it missed the mark. Understandably the conditions due to covid are strict but I found the 3-4 calls the 48 hours before our reservation to confirm our reservation, a little excessive. Especially when I already confirmed via OpenTable.
Additionally, the portions were tiny for the price point. I appreciate the knife skills and butchery skills to get the level of uniformity but again, still doesn’t justify the price point.
Our reservation was at 7:30 and by then at least 3 items were “sold out” including the chicken wings, chicken oysters, and others. It’s a prime time dinner reservation so it was a bit odd to be sold out of so many things so early on a Friday night.
Bar bites with Michelin pricing.
Lovely from start to finish
Glizzard and beef tougue are insanely good. No joke.
I thought this place was so amazing! The price for 3 people and 2-3 rounds of beer was around $250-275 after tip, but definitely was worth it, even though a teeny bit more than we thought it might be.
Skewers are cooked very well except a little bit salty to us. The chicken heart and corn tasted soooo great! A great place to have dinner with small group of friends.
Super amazing food and service!
Average food and customer service. Not too impressed, I had better food and service in Yakitori restaurant in New York.
Was awesome. I recommend this trend.
Good food good mood. Asahi beer waiters always near. Everything so tasty , looks and smells amazing.
Chicken liver (foie gras) is the best I’ve ever had!
The food and service are excellent as usual, but now that more people are out and about, it is noisier---comes with the territory, I guess.
What an amazing meal!!! It's exactly how I had hoped to end the first leg of our trip. We had the local watercress salad, a multitude of delicious skewers, a delicate but flavorful black cod and the seafood chawanmushi. We would come back just for that. The staff was so helpful and patient with us. The sake was delicious and the sochu...wow! Thanks for the memorable experience and we cannot wait to come back!
The food is very authentic, service was excellent! We sat outside, a bit noisy and dusty with buses run by often. Next time will book early and sit inside. Will definitely come back!
Good food and service. I am not sure about the neighborhood though...
