About Yakitori Boy Japas - Philadelphia
Philadelphia's 1st Izakaya, a Japanese version of a pub, serving a variety of small dishes for snacking while drinking. We specialize in Yakitori skewers of meat, seafood and vegetables, seasoned and skillfully grilled to perfection. We also offer "half sushi rolls". We believe food is better shared, naturally our menu is tapas style, which we affectionately refer to as “Japas” or Japanese Tapas. We encourage you to order a variety of dishes so that you and all of your guests can sample, enjoy and satisfy your “foodie” cravings.

Yakitori Boy Japas - Philadelphia Ratings and Reviews
Such a wonderful place, that they are open late and have such fresh food!! I LOVE IT! It's a bit loud, but the food is definitely worth it, and the servers there are just the nicest, especially the one sweet girl I always get to see! Thank you for making my meals so happy!! 😇✨🙌👍👍👍 These are 'thumbs up' emoticons...
We went fir restaurant week and had a great time. I was looking for some sushi and got it. I had never been here before and I'm glad we picked this place. Staff very friendly and had good recommendations. All of the food was great. Loved the sea bass entree.
We had an excellent meal at Yakitori Boy - the food was cooked well and came out quickly. Our waiter was incredibly responsive and the table was cleared quickly between dishes. The food itself was great. We especially loved the sushi and chicken scallion yakitori. My husband got the sake flight, which he also thoroughly enjoyed. We will absolutely be going back.
We went to Yakatori Boy while visiting Philadelphia and were very pleased with the choice. Having lived in Japan the interior brought back many memories of evenings in Tokyo izakaya restaurants. It was very authentic in feel and ambience. The yakatori was as good as any I have in the US. Jenna, our waitress, was incredibly friendly and helpful. The variety of yakatori was quiet broad with the vegetables pretty interesting. The selection of sake was broad. The sashimi was very fresh and well presented. For those so inclined they have karaoke upstairs, but we did not try it.
I sincerely appreciate the attention the hostess and server gave to my Celiac disease. I will come back here again (seriously- if I feel my medical need for gf food is ignored or taken as a fad diet, I blacklist that restaurant). Super sweet staff and tasty sushi!!
Went for dinner on a Saturday night and it wasn't too crowded. It was both of our first time there. The menu was big and for the most part, reasonably priced. The food came out quickly and was delicious. The only downside was that the skewers (which are their specialty) were super small portion-wise and although they were really good they weren't necessarily worth the price. That being said it doesn't really take too much away from my experience. It's still a great spot with good food and a fun atmosphere. After dinner we went upstairs to the karaoke bar and had a great time. We'll go back for sure.
Hostess was very rude via phone and also once we arrived in person. We were advised there was a 15min Grace period on our reservation, but what we weren't advised of is that your complete party has to be there or you lose your table. Unfortunately the City was gridlocked due to the Presidential visit. Service was extremely slow. We had 3 people in our party, it took 35 mins to get another place setting. The food was ok, not great but also not terrible. I did like my Spider Roll, and my Daughter loved the Tempura Ice Cream. I may give this place another shot at a less busy time.
Tried Yakitori Boy for Philadelphia Restaurant Week and glad we did. The food was fresh & delicious and the service excellent & not hurried even though we were 30 minutes late for our reservation due to train problems.
Every dish was flavorful from the bowl of steaming udon noodle soup with tempura shrimp to the amazing salmon Yakitori skewers to the salmon & tuna sushi rolls which were unique. The highlight of our meal? A plate of succulent baby BBQ lamb chops cooked to perfection.
We will return again and again and try the Japas karaoke bar upstairs as well.
We've been a number of times and have never been disappointed. The food is "Japas" style which is a take on Tapas. So portions are small, but priced accordingly and there are a large variety to choose from. There is a karaoke bar upstairs but we've never been. I'm sure that is great for groups! It's like $30/hr for a table for 6.
My boyfriend and I visited for restaurant week, Friday sept 23. We sat at the bar while we waited for our table bar staff was very friendly as was our server. We both enjoyed our meals. Some times during restaurant week you tend to feel rushed, that was not the case here. I would definitely recommend Yakitori Boy for a fun night out!
