Meal and service was great - definitely try the beets dish! Loved the aleppo jam that came with that, might need to bottle that up next time I’m there!
Everything was amazing. I can’t recommend the sunflower, rose water seed baklava enough. I took a non vegan friend with me, she didn’t even realize that we were in a plantbased restaurant.
Really excellent, flavorful food. The best vegan desserts out there. Only wish the menu included whole grains!
Delicious food and lovely service
Loved the tasty and healthy food! Service was terrific as well.
Loved everything! The food was incredible and the space is cozy and cute.
The hummus and cashew cheese was amazing
Didn't look like anything much from the street, but once inside proved to be a very cozy spot! Inventive, tasty vegan cuisine coupled with attentive service and comfortable surroundings will make this a regular go-to for us.
I have a severe tree nut allergy and the staff was very accommodating - quickly advising on what I should order (or not) and what could easily be modified. Left us with plenty of options. Looking forward to returning for brunch again or for dinner.
This place is AMAZING- I have dreams about the beet manti 😍
Great food, reasonable portion sizes. One meze, one falafel, one entree, and one dessert were good for a filling but not stuffed dinner for three. $110 total with a drink apiece. Food was delicious, with interesting flavors blended together well. Would skip the falafel next time for something more unique. Chocolate cake is definitely worth getting, and not quite worth sharing (you'll want to eat it all)
Simply delicious as everything Matthew Kinney does. The cashew cheese was the out of the world good.
Everything on the menu sounded so delicious it was hard to choose what to order. Everything we tried was exceptional. I would dine at Xyst regularly if I lived in NYC.
Went with a group of four girls for dinner. We loved it! The food options were fun, we chose 5 different dishes to share. One being the Hummus trio--which was the special. It was fun to get to try the different flavors. We also enjoyed a falafel dish, beet dumplings, and the cauliflower. All really delicious! Our reservation was at 7PM and I arrived early. To my surprise was able to sit at the bar while I waited and enjoy a glass of Syrah for $6 (happy hour price). Loved that overall, the entirely vegan menu was reasonably priced, our bill came out to > $40 per person with tip.
Loved the food so much I came back the next day! The dishes were carefully prepared and creatively seasoned.
EVERYTHING we ate was extraordinary!!!
Great date spot. Very romantic with the fire place. Their beet hummus is amazing. Great food and amazing service.
Creative dishes, outstanding service, perfectly quirky decor - it was the perfect spot for a Sunday evening celebration.
The food was fabulous as well at the service, art composition was atrociously picked. The paintings are far much of an overkill
perfect setting for nice conversation. the food was delicious and very reasonably priced. tried a little bit of everything! from the moment we walked in to the final steps out, we felt so welcomed! extremely friendly staff. will definitely be back! oh, the chocolate cake... just going to leave it there. try it for yourself!
Good vegan restaurant that seems to still be "finding" itself. Noise level is on the high side and even though the restaurant knew this was a birthday dinner celebration, the restaurant did not acknowledge that (I mean, really....how much does it cost to buy candles?)
I was excited to try this new (ish) Matthew Kenney restaurant but have to say I was disappointed with 2 of the 4 dishes we ordered. The fried artichokes and roasted carrots were both bland and uninspied. The other two - a smoked hummus and fava bean & green pea felafel - were great however. Service was really good and the place has a nice feel to it. I’d give it another try at some point.
Yummy food and great, cozy atmosphere
Excellent food!!! Would go again. Wish room was more bright and cheerful like his previous restiarant but will return because food is great!
Wonderful food and lovely waiter - diners would really benefit from a better wine list. Wines by the glass are bad or very bad.
Exceptional experience! We can’t wait to come back ! Food, service and atmosphere- FABULOUS!
We ordered everything on the menu besides four dishes. Everything was delicious. Unreal. Will be back very soon again and again. Thank you!!
The food had interesting enough flavors, but really the portions were tiny and it made the food appear way too precious. It's a lot less fun to eat in restaurants where the food feels like it's too precious.
It's a great find for a person with a desire to follow a vegetarian eating regime. The ambiance is pleasant, it's quiet, the service is efficient and attentive. The food is fresh, full of flavor, presented beautifully, and the portions are generous.
We were in town for business and met up with friends. Thoroughly enjoyes oir evening. Food was amazing and the atmosphere was cozy and intimate. The waiter was very attentive as well. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and will return the next time I’m in Manhattan.
I have to say this was a disappointment. He food was average at best and pricey for what we got. I eat vegan frequently and this food was somewhat flavorless.
Excellent vegan options! Everything is vegan so we had the vanishingly rare experience of ordering freely from the menu. Lovely, summer camp vibe. Great service. Nice, open view of the kitchen as you walk to the back. reviews have a minimum number of words and I'm short a few. So there.
The food was exceptional. I will be eating there frequently.
Really enjoyed! Great food, great service, great atmosphere 🍷
The food was incredible! Crostinis were overpriced- two pieces for $10. But flavors, presentation, and creativity were A+ across the board.
Loved it! FANTASTIC new addition to the NYC vegan dining scene.
Everything was wonderful - great wine, delicious plant based food, great service, great atmosphere - great, great, great! We loved the beet hummus with radishes, mushrooms with kale polenta, dukkah avocado with greens, Za'atar roasted carrots - all fabulous!
Xyst is another great restaurant by vegan chef Matthew Kenney. Whether you're a vegan or not, you'll love the food (try the smoked hummus!) and will have a nice time in the relaxed atmosphere. The service is excellent. I highly recommend going to Xyst with friends, on a date or special occasion.
Recently switched to plant based lifestyle and this place was a very pleasant addition to the repertoire (easily top 3 contender for my wife and I). Would recommend to non-vegan friends as well.
Food came out cold. Not a huge deal as they were apps but the pita with the hummus had clearly been toasted quite a bit earlier and the carrots would have been better fresh out of the oven.
