Wasn’t great...expected more! Socca is just alright tastes like a pancake and not enough avocado. Muhammara was too sweet. Manti was the best part. Cheesecake had no crust which is my favorite part but was tasty. It was alright wouldnt go back.

We are always looking for high quality, creative, healthy, vegetarian/vegan options. XYST caught our eye and we were super satisfied. The food was thoughtfully prepared and presented and tasted as good as it looked. What made the entire extra special was our server Amy. We have never encountered anyone who was so genuinely passionate about the particular cuisine of a restaurant. She was happy to share her recommendations (and the choices she was less enthusiastic about) and was articulate about all the dishes and their ingredients. She was helpful, friendly, and spunky without being at all annoying. Thank you, Amy; we'll be back and will ask for you.

This is a great spot ... good for groups and dates ...
really great cocktails... the falafels were great - there is an eggplant dish that you must try ... I didn’t care for the kale salad as much (but was still good) the staff is really friendly. Over all excellent service and food .. I would recommend this place

I had dinner with a vegetarian business colleague from out of town (she used to live in NYC), and she was excited when I told her about XYST.

I was dumbfounded by the food: every dish we tried was amazingly delicious! I will definitely bring friends and colleagues to XYST. And My office is only a couple of blocks away, so this will be very convenient for lunch meetings.

We had a wonderful experience. Will spread the word!

Rare all vegan restaurant right in Union Square and Chelsea.

Wide diversity of vegan choices and a nice ambiance.

Recommend smoked hummus, beet hummus, and kale salads. The soup is a bit weird but in a good way, in my opinion.

Terrible customer service. Eggplant dish was almost raw and when we told the server he said “eggplant is a hit or miss thing”!
Also the lemon meringue pie was frozen solid.
The high prices do not reflect the actual quality that you receive.

Food and ambiance was outstanding. We had to split our check between two parties and there was confusion over handling the two credit cards. Aside from that, everything was outstanding.

We loved the food we had. Baklava is the best baklava I'ever had.
Iron cast Socca and Mantı were just delicious, I will probably end up craving them at some point
My only problem was with the wine portions. We ordered glass wine for 14 $ and
It was half the portion you would get somewhere else.

The food is fantastic. I had dinner there twice during a week-long business trip in New York City. I am vegan, therefore the place was perfect for me. Between the 2 dinners that I had there I tried most menu options. Everything was amazing: tasty, delicate and beautiful. I would have gone every day if the food had been cheaper. I'll certainly come back next time I visit New York City.

Told waiter about a food allergy and then was brought a dish with the allergen which was unfortunate given I couldn’t eat it and it was not taken off the bill.

Xyst is a new experience with in every dish, it eludes cycling of flavors which can easily be arching with vegan cuisine. I absolutely love the underciver-orange blossom waffles.
Enjoy

Everyone lobbed the hslloumi and beet manti and hummus, but the falfel and socco were a very mixed bag at the table. The falafel being the least liked and something we didnt finish. We were very dissapointed with the chocolate cake and baklava.

Was visiting NYC to see my daughter and all 3 of us are vegan so we decided to try XYST out. The service was good, the place was not too crowded even on Saturday night and the food was good but not great. My wife had been to M. Kenney’s place in California which she admitted was far superior. Cocktails were great! Would go again.
Always need to support good vegan restaurants.

The food was beautifully put together, the ingredients were fresh and delicious. I would have enjoyed a bit less oil on the eggplant and we were disappointed with the mushroom dish that was too salty and came with pasta (Israeli couscous) which we didn’t want to eat- the waiter quickly took it off the check! kale Cesar was amazing and the cauliflower was delicious. Truffle cheese brings me back to the day... in a good way... but also super rich!! Baclava dessert was outstanding. Drinks were very good and the service was excellent! So happy to have fine dining (excellently prepared) vegan fare!

Being vegetarians, we were excited to try this restaurant for the first time. The staff was very attentive and accommodating. The food itself was also very tasty and overall atmosphere was great. The main issue we had was the dishes were very small. They were served in big plates with small portions. We were a party of six and after having eight dishes and $200s later, we were not really sure what we had. The food was neither filling nor proportionate to the price. Most of us left half full. I admire the chef's visions and I always root for the vegetarian/vegans restaurants, hoping they would further promote plant based diets. However, I can't recommend this restaurant unless it provides better value.

This was our first time having brunch here, after loving the dinner menu.
The rosewater pancakes were delicious. The iced almond cappuccino was also great. The Florentine was disappointing. The hollandaise sauce tasted like a lemony, sweet mustard, the tofu was extremely bland, and the bread underneath was so tough I could hardly cut through it. I ended up eating the two sides we ordered instead -- cauliflower and potatoes, which were good.
That said, the service here is always impeccable. Our waitress was warm, professional and attentive.
We will definitely be back to try the other menu items!

I was having a reunion with my cousins, both of whom are vegetarians. I wanted to try this restaurant out as my trainer is vegan and recommended trying one of Matthew Kenney's restaurants while in NY. Specifically, Double Zero, but I was staying near XYST so went there. We couldn't get a reservation until 9:30 but were there at 8:30. They had a table outside, and even though it was a super hot night, we took it. We started with the cashew halloumi and kale salad, both of which were really good. The dukkah avocado I thought was one note and needed depth, some acid or heat. The beet manti was delicious as was the cast iron socca. The falafel was just okay, really dry and nothing special (if you want rocking falafel, go to Taim!!) . We loved the mushrooms and the cauliflower. There were four of us and we were definitely full by the end. I liked how they didn't push us and coursed the meal--it was late so there was no wait for a table. Next time, I think we would have better ambience inside as the patio feels like an after thought with 3-4 tables and no decor. Overall, the meal was amazing AND vegan. I would go back for sure.
