Came for a girlfriend get together. Plan was to sit in the back but we liked the open air in the front and sat at the bar. Bartender Lucas was also friendly and fantastic at coming up with drinks. The food was interesting and delicious. Standouts were the avocado and kale salad. I can’t wait to go back.
I chose XYST to meet the needs of my dinner companion. The meal was so delicious, filling, and creative, that I would go back on my own!
Absolutely Delicious Healthy Dining and very reasonably priced. Totally recommend the homemade cheese appetizer! The Eggplant was Exceptional :)
An attractive space - much distressed wood on walls and floor - with a 'country' feel. Despite all the wood, the restaurant was LOUD. Difficult to speak and hear through the din. The waiter we had was on top of everything, refilling water, taking orders, making sure empty plates were taken away quickly, etc... The latter extremely important with the tables being so small and the menu lending itself to sharing several dishes at once. I would recommend it to vegans with the proviso that conversation will be secondary to food. All the dishes we had, save one (a mushroom dish) were very tasty, including the desserts. which is a surprise for a vegan restaurant.
Beautiful food clearly made with care! Three of us shared five of the small MEZE plates and it was perfect! Gorgeous presentation and lots of flavor, I recommend 100%
Delicious nutrient rich food. Not heavy like many vegan restuarants that use a lot of nuts. Generous portions. Organic! Excellent service! Highly recommend.
Very good, we ordered 2 app and one veggie (larger dish) and it was perfect for the 2.of.us. the carrots which were so good, falafel and the eggplant larger dish which was my favorite. Excellent food and our service was very good
Only wished the service matched up to the quality of food served. Super hopeful of this place as a vegan/veggie/foodie. Definitely order the Beet Manti - best dish of the night. However, don’t expect any level of service here. Very disappointed. Maybe we’re spoiled in Bay Area, CA.
REALLY DELICIOIUS AND CREATIVE. ATMOSPHERE WAS GREAT TOO. I WOULD LIKE TO SEE ORGANIC VEGETABLES AS WELL. AND SERVICE COULD BE IMPROVED, BUT NOTHING TERRIBLE...
Excellent food! Great staff and atmosphere. Feels warm and inviting inside. We ordered several dishes to sample the menu - there is a strong attention to detail in the execution of the food. The only negative comment is that the grilled eggplant was slight over-charred but the staff noted the critique and advised they would revisit the dish.
Definitely some of the best vegan food we've tried and absolutely worth a visit when you're in the city.
An absolute dining delight.
This has been the most delicious food I ever had at a restaurant, and I've been to a few.
Hands down ridiculous flavors. The chef really outdid anyone else cooking.
The decor of the place is perfect. Very cute and even has a balcony/backyard seating.
Service was fantastic and the waitress was very informative and professional.
This is the place guys. This is the place.
FOOOOD WAS SOOOO GOOOOOOOD!!! 10/10.
Yummmmm!! We had a really great dinner here! We sat out back, which was a bit small, but a great option for al fresco dining on a warm NYC night. The truffle cheese spread crostini we’re AMAZING! We ended up ordering 2 of them! We all loved the cashew halloumi served warm in a cast iron skillet and the grilled eggplant was delish too. Our other favorite dishes were the roasted carrots (simple and perfect) and beet manti which are like dumplings. The dessert menu didn’t wow us so we skipped it, but am really looking forward to coming back here again! Awesome plant based Whole Foods! Oh also the cocktails hit the spot!
Amazing ambiance with amazing food. Hands down, one of the best vegan restaurants in NYC. Amazing cocktails with delicious deserts.
Beautiful space, great service and the food is good but expensive. I wasn’t blown away by it/didn’t feel the prices warranted the food. I liked it, just wasn’t blown away.
Really enjoyed the meal. Great spot for a date.
Xyst is one of the best things to happen in NYC in years. The menu is inventive, the for is always great and the service is spot on. As a vegan, it is a real treat to be able to go into a restaurant and order anything on the menu. Our non-vegan friends who have joined us at Xyst always leave happy as well.
A terrific restaurant. Inventive sophisticated vegan food served with no attitude, and lots of charm. Good bar, adequate wine list (fairly priced), and quiet enough to have grown-up conversations. What a pleasure!
We were very early so the restaurant only began to fill up after we arrived. While we do ear fish this was a vegetarian meal and each dish was flavored very well.
XYST was our choice for Father's Day brunch. We were able to get a table in the small outdoor garden area and it was wonderful! Great creative food and atmosphere!
Matthew Kenney always delivers. Great food, love his restaurants!
XYST oversells itself as having a world-leading plant-based chef. Our meal was fine, but it was essentially steamed/cooked vegetables with occasionally some sauce on the side. Nothing bad, but nothing you couldn’t recreate at home on a Tuesday night for substantially less money. With so many other vegetarian options in the city (Nix, Dirt Candy, Candle 79) it’s hard to see why we’d chose this again.
Stopped in for an early Friday dinner.
Cozy and relaxed seating with outdoor options. Server suggested 2 appetizers and 2 main dishes each, which was perfect.
Very good cocktails, beautiful and delicious food - we especially loved the socca.
Ended the meal with a huge brownie and gelato dessert with cappuccinos.
Was skeptical but found healthy and delicious food with top notch service. Went for lunch and then came back for dinner late the same week. Not cheap, not huge portions, but high quality. Will return.
Very nice experience overall. We tried a lot of different dishes and shared everything and would recommend doing so. Some dishes, like anywhere, are better than others and more tasty. Some are beautifully presented, others not so much. The service was wonderful though they brought the dishes out so quickly in the beginning we had to tell them to slow down. Thus the reason for the rating. The restaurant was pretty and rustic and the outdoor patio was very nice.
Overall, it was a nice dinner with friends.
A little pricey, but very delicious vegan food and a lovely space. Also, the dishes looked small but were pretty darn filling, and the presentation was elegant! Appreciate finding this quiet East Chelsea nook. Looking forward to visiting again.
Outstanding cuisine and service....loved and will return, and I’m not vegan!
This was my second visit to XYST. My daughter is a vegan which is why we choose this restaurant.
Loved it so much the first time that I returned again with my daughter and her sister who is not vegan. She loved it also. Will definitely return again. Excellent healthy, innovative food and great atmosphere.
Excellent food options. Dukkah Avocado, Smoked Tofu and Sesame Avocado were just fantastic.
The food was fantastic !! Pleasantly surprised by how delicious everything was !!
Fantastic food, two very talented young chefs. Couldn’t have had a better experience.
Really enjoyed it! Delicious food and great service
Absolutely amazing! Flavourful, healthy & a perfect spot for someone who enjoys plant based food!
I went during lunch time. Food was not as exciting as his other restaurants.
I was so excited for Xyst to open as I’m a big fan of Matthew Kenney; however, my friends and I were all really disappointed in the service, atmosphere, and food. We were expecting exciting flavors, beautiful presentations, great atmosphere and knowledgeable, friendly servers. Basically, it’s good healthy vegan food (presentations did not match the gorgeous website photos), yet the really poor service with very little regard for a gluten allergy (server ignored our requests, and the restaurant was empty), and the lackluster atmosphere (looked exactly like the prior restaurant - a dark French cafe - with minimal changes) were all really off-putting. I am glad I came for lunch with friends instead of my wedding anniversary, which had been the original plan.
Food is amazing, the noise level is out of control.
The food was delicious as usual but the service was an abomination - the waitress didn't clean up our table between courses, ignored our requests for water.
Though I frequent the restaurant often, I came in with my parents and we were dressed in traveler's gear - it may have been that we were a nuisance but service was terrible nonetheless
Outstanding! If only more restaurants had the quality, the integrity and appreciation for real food such as XYST NYC and all of Mathew Kenney's restaurants. The taste is exceptional and you can tell the difference of flavor from the sourcing of ingredients. Fresh ingredients, opened kitchen and amazing dishes. Service was great and I would definitely come back. As a party of 4 we ordered almost everything- both nut cheeses- cashew haloumi and truffle cheese crostini, beet manti, smoked hummus, grilled eggplant, za'atar roasted carrots, falafel's, kale ceaser, baklava and chocolate cake. Everything was exceptionally delicious and I cannot wait to come back! Thank you for the ingredients <3
Excellent service and great food. Highly recommend their special dips platter!
Food was amazing. Loved the interior design
