Excellent. Drinks were a bit expensive but happy hour prices make them worth the cost
Booked this restaurant for a 11 person dinner and everything was set up and ready when we arrived, the service was good and friendly, the drinks were great, and the food was amazing! The customizable guacamole was amazing!
Really liked the warm ambiance, and authentic Mexican decor.
Highly recommend you treat yourself (or your group/team) to a good time & great meal at Xochitl.
The service was awful. It took 20 min to get a drink. The food was mediocre. We will not go back.
For vegetarian diners- they had good options but very small portions to reflect the price. The cauliflower "steak" was small and under seasoned. The vegetarian enchiladas were good but underfilled. Overall, the food was tasty but I felt as though the vegetarian dishes were much smaller than meat dishes even though vegetarian options are already lighter to begin with. Probably would not return again. Good ambiance and amazing drinks though!
Great place best tacos I’ve ever had
Small menu, over priced. Just OK ambiance, too dimly lit and music was odd for what they pose as an "authentic" Spanish restaurant. Margaritas pricey for how small of a portion they give you... mostly ice and no tequilla, all mix. Staff was TERRIBLE. Very rude and passive aggressive. Will NOT dine here again and we live fairly close (within walking distance). So sad to see a poorly managed restaurant.
Such a wonderful find, the staff were attentive, the food exceptional (the guacamole... still thinking about it) will definitely be visiting again soon.
Delicious! The signature guacamole was so interesting and I could not get enough. The waitress was so knowledgeable and very helpful!
Delicious food ... amazing staff. Will def be back
Unbelievably slow service of mediocre food.
The food was good, but it took us over an hour to get our main course. While the waitstaff did apologize for the wait, nothing was taken off our bill and no explanation was provided for the tardiness of our meal. We spent a total of three hours in the restaurant to eat 4 courses. We will not return due to this long wait.
Went to Xochitl during restaurant week. Lots of choices to choose from which was really nice. Instead of receiving just three courses, you have four. The food was just okay - nothing that my date and I had really wowed us. As the evening when on, the place became very crowded and the atmosphere was lively. The staff was friendly and attentive.
We went with a group of 4 for center city restaurant week. We were disappointed-I’ve never been to a Mexican restaurant that doesn’t put chips on the table. The restaurant week menu is $35 for dinner. I do not think this was a good value at all; the food was just ok. My husbands salmon was dry and for shrimp tacos, a salad and a tiny serving of flan, we definitely did not get our money’s worth and will not be back.
I was excited to dine here. Unfortunately, our experience was fair. We dined during restaurant week. We had to send 2 of our dishes back because they were lukewarm (soup and enchiladas). The salad dressing was flavorless. The tortillas soup had very good flavor and adequate chunks of chicken. The tuna cerviche was just ok. We really enjoyed the salmon dish and chicken enchiladas ( after they were heated properly - to their credit, we were brought a brand new dish). The flan was excellent. The chocolate tres leche was a overly sweet and goopy. It wasn't awful, but with so many good choices in Philadelphia, I wouldn't be in a rush to come back.
There was a little bit of a wait at the door, but the staff was all working hard and were very friendly! Will 100% go back.
We had a group of four for Restaurant Week. The food was excellent. It was very crowded and one server that I could see and she really hustled. We had a great experience.
Loved it! Their menu does not give credit to their food: it is delicious!!! The presentation alone was incredible. We order 3 appetizers and 2 meals and ate everything. You can customize your guacamole and trust me, best guacamole ever! The freshest cilantro and vegetables I have ever encountered. Just go, trust me.
The food and staff were wonderful! We had optimal seating on the lower level and the ambiance was amazing.
We are both vegetarians and had the vegetarian tacos and enchiladas. They were absolutely amazing! We love our meal. The guacamole was awesome as were the margaritas. We will be back soon.
We were disappointed, maybe just an off night for them. Presentation was good but honestly the three if us ordered guac, which was good, chips tortillas are thick. Carnitas the pork was dry and barely warm. Veggie enchiladas the sweet potatoes were under cooked. Wife said the veggie tacos were ok. I really felt my drink was watered down. I hope it was just a bad night.
Perfect setting and delicious food for a quiet dinner where we could actually have a conversation without raising our voices.
Tacos were terrible. Guacamole and drinks were very good. Won’t go again because entrees were so bad.
Great tequila options, margaritas were delicious. Loved the guacamole options. Ceviche was good. Loved the chicken mole but portion was small. Chicken tacos were great, as well as brisket. Fish taco was average.
The food was good. The place is definitely a cute date stop. The highlights are the guacamole and the drinks!
Always great Mexican they change it up with all kinds of specials very very good. The drink specials are amazing the guacamole is through the roof so fresh and amazing.
Excellent food in a appealing restaurant—quiet yet lively
Great service from a very friendly staff
Awesome happy hour and wonderful food
We had a large group and made a last minute reservation. Xochitl gave us a great table in the lower level where it was relatively quiet and we enjoyed a long, leisurely dinner that began with some amazing guacamole and margaritas and ended with delicious churros. All the tacos and enchiladas in between were delicious and service was great. We will be back!
The food was amazing and the service was excellent!
Atmosphere was very nice. However downstairs bathroom is very, very small.
make your own guac. was a big hit and very good.
Other food was alright- slightly pricey for what you get. It did taste good, and fresh. Everyone ate all their food. No complaints.
The drinks were very, very good. The spicy margarita was a big hit.
We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at Xochitl. The service was efficient and friendly, the food was wonderful and we look forward to returning!
Loved the margaritas, the salsa verde and the option for adding custom ingredients to the guacamole!
Very disappointing meal. We eat at Xochitl occasionally but hadn’t been for a few months. Not sure if there’s a new chef, but the menu has shrunk considerably. It’s turning into a taco joint. Usually the made-to-order guacamole is delicious; it was awful. The add ins were barely chopped and the taste was mediocre. We got the tacos and they were ok. The best part was the pumpkin margarita. I guess their bartender is still the same.
Awesome guac and excellent meals
The service was great, food was amazing, and I enjoyed my time dining there. I would definitely go again!
Drinks and food were delicious! Highly recommend!
Outstanding food and service! I LOVE this place!!!! The food is spectacular, the service is phenomenal, and it just the BEST! Love the make your own guacamole and the tacos are to die for!!! I can’t get enough.
Birthday dinner before a concert....it was great!
Hands down THE best guacamole and chips i have ever had. The guacamole is made to order, choose type of onion, tomato, hotness level (spice), and any small additional items like crumbled cheese, etc. The chips are homemade and are delicious, sturdy, salted just right, and hold the guacamole perfectly. The main courses which mostly consist of either enchiladas or tacos are both delicious in their own right being complimented with fantastic sauces. Lastly, the drink selection is large enough to provide enough selection, especially for margaritas which are made very well. Cost is a little on the high side for everything but i don't have a problem paying for this great food, drink, and service.
I LOVE their tacos- both the shrimp and the chicken are to die for! The service is great and the guacamole is also out of this world.
Overall our experience was great- there was a larger group of us (6 for a birthday) and we were able to talk comfortably without being the only ones in the restaurant. The happy hour deals were awesome, our waiter was knowledgeable and attentive, and the food was wonderful. I would absolutely go again have already recommended Xochitl to friends.
