Food was mediocre. The music level was very high for the 3 tables in there were we could barely hear ourselves talk. Also it was very dark to.
It was amazing! Food and drinks were AMAZING! The service was perfect!
This used to be an excellent restaurant. What happened to the menu???? It’s just tacos, an enchilada, salad and a couple ceviche. The food used to be gorgeous!
I ordered the Chili con Mole. The mole sauce and rice were cold, the top of the chili was cold and inside hot.
At 7pm on a Saturday night they were also out of the fried chicken and plantains. We were sat next to a large group downstairs too, was so loud we couldn’t even talk to each other as the group was yelling so loud at each other.
Our server was very attentive though. She was the only good part.
We will never return.
We get seated. No one comes over for 10 min to acknowledge us. A couple next to us then gets seated. Immediately gets served some water. We don't even have that yet. A host or waitress starts to set up another table next to us. Then a waitress starts to take the order of the couple who came in after us. So we decided to leave.
Great food, attentive service. Can’t wait to come back!
Delicious food! Great service! I can't wait to go back again soon!
Had a very good experience dining at Xochitl. The waiters were very attentive and helpful. They even told us the best dishes to get to get the most out of the $35 restraunt week deal. I ordered the tuna tartare, seafood enchiladas and the flan. Everything was prepared very well and tasted very good.
The staff was very attentive and pleasant. The food was very good. The margaritas were delicious!
This was a solid place. Cute inside, good atmosphere and an excellent waitress. Service was quick and informative. The margaritas were flavorful, fresh and moderately strong. Zero bang for your buck alcohol wise though. The cups they served the drinks in were very small, and iced all the way up to the top. We actually specifically asked for less ice for the second round, and in light of less ice, they didn’t fill the glass to the top with actual fluid lol. I tried the shrimp enchiladas, the brisket tacos, the guacamole, the chorizo queso and the salsa. I liked most of everything, besides the salsa. It reminded me of a marinara sauce rather than a salsa. The tacos were good, I liked that they incorporated corn as a topping. The enchiladas were also good, just a heavy cream sauce. Overall, a decent place for decent Mexican food!
Brisket enchiladas were excellent. They supported a modification and put them on corn vs. flour for me due to my gluten sensitivity which was very appreciated. Great drink options - creative cocktails, yummy sangria and plenty of Mexican beer options.
Good food but drinks are watered down.
Christmas gathering of friends.
we had a large party.... 14. perfect location and dinner.
Some of the food was very good - the custom guacamole, the brisket tacos and the chicken tacos were all really good. The carnitas tacos were not good and the shrimp tacos were good but not outstanding. The chips and salsa were fresh but not my favorite. The atmosphere was nice and it was quiet but not dead. The service was just okay and my group of eight was charged an automatic 20% gratuity, which I don’t have a problem with as a rule, but it was not earned in this case. Overall, the bill was over $700 for eight people and it just wasn’t that great.
Such a cozy environment! Great place for date night or a simple friends get together. Food was fantastic, I recommend the chicken tacos or the seafood enchiladas!
Always a great time
Dinner and service was exceptional. The guacamole was made to order and was fantastic. The hot sauce was actually spicy with great taste, not just brutally hot for no flavorful reason nor red colored vinegar water.
The best fresh-made guacamole in town. Service was excellent and the atmosphere was quiet for good conversation among friends. Perfect neighborhood gem!
Ian the bartender is awesome. Best guacamole and spicy margaritas. Also able to get some healthy options. One of our favorites!
Had a great dining experience for a birthday!
Great drinks, a bit costly comparatively, but very good with many options. Food was good and reasonably priced. Service was excellent. Would definitely go again.
The tables, chairs and food were all so authentic. It reminded me of my vacations in Cabo. This place is going to be amazing from what I tasted and saw
Saturday night dinner out. We went early (5:45) based on going to the theater after dinner. Food was very very good. I had tacos carnitas and black beans and rice, my wife had the seafood enchiladas (which she raved about).
Not over priced and we have a nice relaxing dinner. Recommended
Went in for restaurant week and was very disappointed with the food and service.
Everything was great!
We went here fir restaurant week and the food was disappointing, flatbread with chorizo tasted nothing like chorizo, main course of chicken tinga was flavorless boiled meat and the tilapia was a warmed over buffet flavored.chocolate flan was dense as a brick and the rice pudding was mealy. All in all, big flop
My wife and I went here during restaurant week; it's in an area we're not familiar with but we'll definitely be going back. The food was great; a bit spicy for my wife but I loved the shrimp tacos!! Would definitely recommend this to anyone! We also had the Ceviche Tostada which was quite tasty and lastly Chili Relleno that was great. Nothing to complain about!
Guacamole is great and margaritas were good.
Nice spot for a quiet dinner or date.
Delicious food and great service!
My husband and I were extremely disappointed! We visited during restaurant week. Upon our arrival we were excorted to the to the lower level right next to the bathroom. It was kind of a let down from the minute they sat us there! The chairs we sat on were rock hard and my feet couldn’t touch the floor. We were handed by our waitress who never introduced herself and basically didn’t have a personality, prefix menus, regular menus were not available! I ordered the ceviche tostadas, shrimp tacos and chocolate flan. My husband ordered the tortilla soup, chicken tacos and chocolate flan. The food in general had no taste to it, we just couldn’t figure out what we was eating! The chocolate flan tasted as it was defrosted then served. We left amazed at the garbage they served us as Mexican food and $86 lighter in the pocket! Don’t waste your time and money at this establishment! My husband and I have eaten in many Mexican restaurant and this one was one of the worst we could recall!
Went for restaurant week and when asked to modify the order(because of allergies) was told it was pre-made and that it would be impossible. Then asked to just order one option instead of all three (due to allergies) and was told we had to sit at the bar. Very unaccommodating.
I thought my meal wasn’t tasty. But the service was excellent. They were attentive and always refilled my water before having to ask.The food was hot and prompt. Drinks great. Nice cute place.
A great find, with wonderful flavours and a great range of cocktails and Tequilas.
We reserved Xochitl for my birthday and had a great time. We ordered margaritas and felt they could have used more tequila. The tequila options were phenomenal. You can make your own guac which is cool but I wish they just had it made to have the authentic experience. They had deconstructed tamales which was super disappointing. Tamales are usually armrests filled and you choose which filling you want. I think if you want an authentic Mexican experience, this isn’t the place for that. The flan was one of the best I’ve had in a very long time. Beautiful indoor decor with cancels. Overall nice birthday experience.
Awesome as usual! Good friends and amazing food, not to forget about the drinks!
Great service and quality food. Prices are fair and the atmosphere is fun!
I had heard about this place from friends over the past few years and figured I would give it a try and deviate from our other Mexican favorites.
Our experience started when we first walked in the door. There wasn't anyone there to greet us. Eventually someone appeared and looked at us and said "yes?" (um, what kind of greeting is that?)
I said we had a reservation, gave our name and he pointed to a table for us to follow him. Put down the menus and walked away. Didn't say enjoy your meal, nothing.
Several minutes later, someone came and said they were our server. No smile, no warm greeting.
The service did not get any better and I guess the bright side is that it didn't get any worse.
Now for the food. Chips and Guacamole were fine...honestly if you can't get those right, you shouldn't have a Mexican restaurant. The rest of the dishes were fine but tasted more like chain Mexican. The dishes came out so fast, you knew they weren't cooked to order. Our short rib looked like it had been "nuked" and based on the temperature and the steam that came out of it for the next few minutes, it surely had.
If you are ok with Chain Mexican food, then I guess it is ok. There are just too many other Mexican restaurants in the city, with much better service, to waste your time going to this place. It was honestly some of the unfriendliest service we have had.
The food and lighting and whole experience was phenomenal. The service was sometimes a bit lost in the sauce. I wish for the price, that the drinks were a bit stronger. All in all, Xochitl was fantastic.
Delicious food & the best margaritas
