The French called Canada’s main financial thoroughfare "rue Saint-Jacques", and the English "St-James Street". Synonymous with opulence and influence, it was the second street in what is now Montréal. Bordered by banks and named after Jacques Olier, the street continues to be known today as a museum of high finance. Today, Hotel Le St-James, the former Merchants Bank, sits enthroned at the crossroads of history. On midsummer nights, modern-day coachmen in top hats take us back a hundred years to a day when bankers glanced at their pocket watches while crossing rue St-Jacques to the stock exchange and central telegraph offices just blocks away.



XO Le Restaurant, situated in the former Banker's Hall, is truly a beautiful space composed of a dining room, a bar & lounge, two beautiful mezzanines, as well as four alcoves which add an extra touch of comfort and privacy. 30 mins to get served a drink at the bar. Food really wasn’t good and trying to pretend something its not. Only saving grace is how beautiful the room is... we won’t be returning, unless we hear of a change in restaurant management and / or chef.

It's a good place for a quiet lunch in Old Port. The set menu changes weekly so it is refreshing. Definitely value for money.

We booked in for 11am New Year's Day brunch - $65pp +taxes and grat. It was a buffet that was described to include Oysters and Shrimp, plus carvery station, dessert buffet, etc. The venue is stunning and the server was lovely and attentive. They were late getting the buffet set-up so we waited 30 mins before we could start. The supervisor did go to all of the tables and let us know they were delayed and ensured we had drinks while we waited. Once the buffet came out, the options listed did not all come at once, the seafood came out last and by that time we had already eaten what we wanted not realizing they would bring new options later. For the price, I felt the buffet should have been better prepared and key items such as seafood brought out from the beginning. Food quality was very good.

Nous nous attendions à beaucoup plus pour un brunch de Noël. Pour le prix demandé, 65% !!! les choix du menu étaient plutôt limités. Il manquait d'accompagnement (variété de légumes) pour les plats chauds. La table des entrées froides était tout de même bien mais aussi très limitée.
Le choix des desserts aurait pu être plus élaboré surtout pour le jour de Noël !. Il n'y avait rien d'extraordinaire.
Tout ce qui était présenté était quand même très bon mais c'était le strict minimum.
Pour un hôtel de votre classe et de votre réputation, et en plus le jour de Noël, ce brunch n'était vraiment pas à votre honneur.
Nous n'avons pas senti cette touche du chef pour nous épater !! Ça ne valait pas plus que 40$.

Désolés, mais nous ne retournerons pas chez-vous pour un jour de fête comme Noël.
