Xixón Spanish Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Five of us gathered and ordered an evening of hot (temperature hot, not spicy hot) tapas, but were disappointed in that only a few arrived at expected temperature. Most arrived lukewarm, at best, lukewarm-on-verge-of-cold, or cold (room temperature). This added to mediocre service has turned us off this venue. Too bad....
It was excellent! My son invited my mom and I for Christmas 2017 and had a feast. We were nostalgic about our holiday trip to Spain Christmas 2016. This dining experience comfort our desire to be in Spain this Christmas 2017. Maria, the waitress from Spain in the downstairs wine cellar dining, was very gracious, friendly, and helpful in deciding what we were going to eat. Thank you Maria! :)
We had dinner there. Not super good not bad, just an average tapas. Beef cheek was soft and tender, but too salty to over power the meat. Mussel was nice cooked with green sauce. Bacon wrapped date with blue cheese had good balance. Then the tomato bread was again little too salty. Also, the store charged extra $1 for the spicy fries sauce which I felt it should not be charged. And the item we ordered that kitchen had no material to made was added into our bill too.
Very disappointed that we went to all the trouble to plan our meal and make reservations, and then to be seated in the bar area. Extremely noisy!
We were not ask about seating preference, but taken immediately to the bar, ...we were not eating tapas.
Will not be a re-do.
Our waiter was very friendly & good, cannot say that of the hostess.
Quiero felicitar al equipo de trabajo de Xixon por su excelente atención. Una reseña especial para Oscar quien siempre nos atiende excelente. Sin duda repetiré ya que es uno de los mejores, por no decir el mejor restaurante de comida española en Miami.
I'd been here once before with my foodie group. We shared food and brought our own wine. It was a fun night. We thought we'd give it a try on our anniversary.
In spite of the disorganized menu, the front page of which details wine by the glass by Bodegas, not by type of wine, we ordered a Pinot Noir and a suggested beer. My wine had been sitting around for a couple of days. It would've made a good cooking wine, but not drinking-- disappointment#1. The wine glass had droplets of water and was passed on to me by hand. #2 Odd, but ok. Another wine was ordered this time a Tempranilla as this was a Spanish restaurant and requested that a new bottle be opened. Some wine was poured somewhere in the bar and again handed to me to try & approve. The bottle was not opened at my table nor a taste poured on site. This restaurant boasts a large wine background and a room filled with large wine barrels - quite nice! Seems staff is not well trained as to types of wines, protocols, etc - they can overcome that aspect. Although the waitress seemed sad, she did try her best within her language limitations.
However, the menu was a mish-mosh of items with unclear titles. Choices were made to try something new - mostly tapas on menu - but, half a piece of bread with marmalade and a whole chorizo on a skewer is not reflective of a tapa. Entrees are limited - mostly a tapas place. Did I mention that?
No I will not return to this restaurant, nor will I recommend it. When you limit your clientele to one group, you lose out on a diverse market and hence on much needed funds to train your staff, which will, in the long run, increase your revenues.
Xixon has been our go to place for Spanish food since we came upon it over 10 years ago. We've seen it grow from a simple tiny little restaurant to its new location where they have created a a large, vibrant space with excellent food, consistent quality and friendly staff. Ingredients are all top of the line, is he real thing, a little piece of Spain in Miami.
Although I had made reservations way in advance of our dining date, we still had to wait almost 30-minutes in order to be seated. We had to send back the main course of our food because of the amount of fat on the steak. We then asked for one of their yellow rices for three (shrimp and cod) and it was just okay. Nothing to write home about. Very disappointed this time around. The first time was incredible!
