XIX Nineteen Ratings and Reviews
Enjoyable brunch, staff was attentive . 1st and 3rd courses well prepared. My crab cake main course was my least favorite part of the meal. My wife's fish of the day was prepared very well. The location is top notch. It should have been more crowded. We would return again. The staff honored our anniversary-!it was a nice touch.
We enjoyed our dinner tremendously. The food was excellent and varied, the service was wonderful, and the restaurant is stunning. The dining room is open and airy and the view adds to the experience. The asparagus soup, stuffed trout and grits were standouts. Will definitely return.
Me and my boyfriend went there for lunch for his birthday. The vibe was nice and the device was great. Food is always delicious and I got a nice discount on the parking which was a plus. They had a happy birthday treat plate all ready for him. Always a great option for dinning of any occasion!
A bit of a disappointment since we were looking forward to their Cafe lunch, and it was not available that day. We ordered off the regular menu, but I must say $20.00 for a hamburger that was nothing special was not worth it. Service was slower than usual, even though I told the server we needed to get out within 40 minutes AND there were only a handful of tables occupied. It took over an hour. I even had to lift my glass to ask for refills. I think it is time to find someplace else to celebrate special occasions.
The meal went fine until the server charged my card 3x and instead of hearing and resolving my concern the manager went back and forth with me about the how the charges would not go through. I am extremely annoyed that my concerns about be charged over $240.00 for a lunch was unacceptable especially while trying to celebrate my mother's birthday. I will never patronize this establishment again.
One of the most disappointing dining experiences I've had in a long time. The only thing I would say that XIX Nineteen has going for it are the views out the window - but nothing else. The service was extremely slow and we waited about 1/2 hour between appetizer and main course. This was even though the restaurant was less than half full. When my main course arrived (salmon), it was raw pink on the inside. Needless to say it was inedible and when the manager came over to apologize she stated she "did not know that much about fish" and did not acknowledge the under-cooking of the meal. She did offer to give us 20% off the next time we came to dinner, however I insisted that the price of the meal be taken off the check. The only thing I could recommend to other diners would be to visit for a drink at the bar and enjoy the views on the balcony - but do not stay for dinner.
XIX is located at the top of a hotel built around 1900, one of those grand hotels in the Edwardian style. The dining room is stunningly beautiful. It is sort of round, with windows (arched) all around so that it is filled with natural light. There is a domed ceiling, soaring above. The layout of tables is around a center point, where the buffet table is. At lunch, this is relaxed, elegant dining. There are table cloths, tasteful silverware, and comfortable upholstered chairs and banquettes. The luncheon "café" menu is an incredible bargain. Three courses plus soda or iced tea for $26. One has a choice of attractive appetizers from the buffet, then a choice of main course from four options (I had the duck breast), and then the dessert buffet. This was not tired buffet food. Each dish was visually appealing and delicious. Service was attentive and gracious. I very highly recommend XIX for a center city lunch venue.
In a bygone era, I'm sure this was a beautiful restaurant. But now it's in desperate need of a facelift! The website and photos lead you to believe this is a posh, upscale restaurant - but it's just another hotel restaurant trying to be something more. The best thing about it is the outdoor terraces, but seating is so limited out there. The atmosphere at the bar does not match the rest of the place. Threadbare cushions and chipped wood aside, the bartender was gruff and unsophisticated. My dining partner's martini glass was cracked, and when he pointed it out to the bartender, she simply poured it into a different glass. A big no-no! Our server, although very nice, was in the weeds and unapologetic for his inattentiveness. When we asked about specials, he simply said there were no additions to the menu. What good chef doesn't offer daily specials??? When we asked him to elaborate on some of the dishes, he simply repeated what was printed in the menu. Not helpful. And although I understand chicken ala king is a throwback to when the Bellevue Hotel was in its prime, it does not belong on a menu for $30. We left before we ordered, so I can't comment on the food. But if it matched the décor and service, we made the right decision.
The cafe lunch is not quite the bargain it used to be, nor are the choices as varied, which is unfortunate for diners, though probably easier for the restaurant. But it is still a beautiful spot for a special lunch. My companions on my most recent visit pronounced their steak the best they'd ever had.
My mom and I had a fantastic time. We did the Lunch Cafe Table and we enjoyed the selections offer - her favorite was the selections of salads while mine was the selection of desserts. Our server was sweet and delightful and we were able to make our 2:00pm showtime for Wicked. It was a great experience and we'll definitely come back again.
Elegant dining on the 19th floor of the Hyatt. Great food and service. The room has a very high, domed ceiling from which hang giant strands of pearls. When they found out we were celebrating our anniversary, our dessert came out on a plate with "Happy Anniversary" written in chocolate on the rim...a very nice gesture. Try the crab mac and cheese...you won't be dissapointed. Highly recomend this fine dining establishment in Philly.
Great experience!! Top Notch service. Our waiter Rasheed was very attentive and professional. He knew the menu and had great suggestions. I had the Salmon which was cooked to perfection (Medium Well). The crab mac & cheese is a must have also. The crab cakes were extremely tasteful. Everything was fresh and the plating was decorated nicely. I enjoy great quality and XIX set the bar high for Philly. Please keep in mind I have been to most of the good restaurants in Philly (Del Frisco's, Moshulu, R2L, Devon's, etc...), but XIX stood out from all of them and exceeded my expectations. I will be returning soon :)
* Its located on the 19th (XIX) Floor of the Hyatt Bellevue*
Overnight getaway in the city. We started out have pre dinner happy hour drinks at the bar. Very friendly servers who were all willing to have a conversation as the place was not too busy because of the holidays. We enjoyed averaged prices drinks that were well made.
This was our second time at the restaurant and the food was tasty as usual. I dined on the duck 🦆 which was well seasoned and cooked while my wife had the chicken. Great atmosphere as th place was not as crowded as our first visit. Great views of the city from the great big windows.
Very nice romantic spot for a date. My wife enjoyed it.
