It was my first time there. We really enjoyed the atmosphere and the food. Service was also great!
It was my first time at XIX Nineteen. I took my fiance for his 30th birthday and he absolutely loved it. The food was delicious. I had steak with mashed potatoes and he ordered the salmon and the pumpkin cheesecake for dessert. We paired both meals with a glass of Pinot Noir and our waiter was extremely polite and helpful (I totally forgot his name), but I would highly recommend this place.
We stayed at the hotel and had dinner at XIX. There was barely anyone there but we had wonderful service and the meat and cheese board was sooooooo delicious. Pretty pricey but a nice night.
Food was amazing. Our servers were fantastic and friendly.
Wonderful. Delicious. A fave lunch spot. Worth the extra money.
Last Sunday 7 friends and I attended a surprise Birthday Brunch at XIX. The service was atrocious and the food, very mediocre. Our server was very sweet and pleasant-mannered but utterly inefficient and untrained in fine dining. We waited far too long (about 10-15 minutes) to place our initial drink order. After we ordered, she brought the birthday girl her free Mimosa but no one else had their drinks with which to toast her. Our server left dirty glassware and plates on the table between courses, so that when we returned from the buffet with new plates, the old ones were still there and in the way. She failed to ask if we wanted another round of cocktails, which we did. I would have ordered wine when the entrees were served but our server failed to return in a timely manner. I was finally able to ask the bar manager who was passing our table for a wine list, which she never brought. Finally, I had to go to the bar to get my own wine. Our server never asked if our meals were satisfactory after the entrees were served. She did not refill our water glasses. Our coffee did not arrive until after we were finished with dessert, even though we asked for it when we began the dessert course. There were other serving mistakes, but most of all I am struck not by our server’s mistakes but by the management’s failure to train its waitstaff.
As for the food, my fish, the special of the day, was dry and over cooked. My friend’s hollandaise sauce had a peculiar taste, as if they were trying to jazz up what should be a classic sauce. On the good side, the fresh oysters were excellent. The dining room ambience is glorious! But the service and food should match. Not to mention at these prices, both should be impeccable.
Had dinner last night with friends at XIX nineteen at the Belleview. We were extremely disappointed. Started with no hostess at station. FOUND her in conversation with wait staff. Went to bar for a cocktail while waiting for rest of party. Bartender - don’t know his name but he had a beard - was not pleasant, bordered rude with a sarcastic remark. Was seated at our table and had a very pleasant/attentive waiter. Food was late, unimpressive, and wrong. One dish came out that was not ordered, a steak arrived that was well done and ordered medium rare. Replacement steak arrived long afterward everyone else had finished dinner. I ordered crab cakes and salmon was delivered. The crab cakes also came out late and were mushy and mostly filling. So in my opinion, out of 5 stars it’s a negative 1.
They double charged my credit card and have not responded to me to reverse charge.
Had a New Year day dinner with my wife. Added a special note when the reservations were made. XIX didn't address my note at all. I would have been satisfied with a response of no but even with the pre-call confirmation, no acknowledgement of my request. I don't if or how its shared with the restaurant. Although the food was tasty, I wasn't pleased with the portions (1 small size crab cake and 2 small scallops). The service was excellent. There weren't many people there so it was quiet but it had that feel like it could be a loud fun place with a crowd. With all of the good restaurants in Philly, XIX didnt make my list. I probably won't be going back..
The young woman working was amazing and exceeded all of our expectations
My wife and I had a wonderful experience at the Sunday Brunch. The service was attentive, excellent and the four courses were very good. The atmosphere was perfect for a nice and relaxing brunch.
Been many times and every time it’s special. Must go
Very tasty food. Long wait though. Maybe because of lack of staff during holidays. Waiters are helpful.
A shame that you can't eat the ambiance - the dining room is almost certainly the most beautiful in the city.
The seafood oriented menu is a decided plus, but sloppy execution undercuts what actually arrives at your table. Soggy, mushy dishes suggest that they were made in advance and held under a heat lamp or dome. Conversely, the excellent cheeses are served ice cold straight out of the refrigerator - some tempering at room temperature would be welcome.
We returned to XIX because it's a great venue for special occasions. XIX has an inventive menu, solid wine list, and unique craft cocktails. It's an experience to eat at XIX, and worth it! Excellent service as well.
For the price and location it was underwhelming at best.
Had brunch on Dec. 23rd. Food was poor, with the exception of the raw bar, first course. Main course wasn't good at all. Nothing was served hot. Service was slow. Coffee was luke warm, and the bloody Mary wasn't good. Way over priced for the experience. Ambiance was great. Totally unexpected given it was XIX.
We went for breakfast as a festive family meal before the Nutcracker. It was completely disorganized and under staffed. We were told to do the buffet because it would take too long to order off the menu. The staff were clearly overwhelmed. We received a discount on our bill without even asking (I guess the staff all knew the morning was less than ideal). It was a big disappointment for something that we thought would be a wonderful family meal at what used to be one of Philadelphia’s best hotels.
Always a delightful dinner and experience. I would recommend it for a nice evening.
Dimly a lovely brunch! Dessert not so much, but everything else was great!
Always a nice atmosphere. Our server was great but she should have had more assistance. Also, cheese station just didn’t have enough utensils/cheese slicers.
My wife and I are vegetarian and we always have a 5 star experience! We will be returning again in the near future.
We stayed at the Bellevue while we experienced the Holiday attractions in the city. Our dinner at Nineteen was wonderful! We both had the steak, which was fabulous. The restaurant is just beautiful, and the views of the city are spectacular. Our waiter, Ened, was very friendly, and so knowledgeable about everything on the menu. He made our dinner there a lovely experience!
There was only ONE server for the whole restaurant. She was fantastic, but not a magician. They needed more people. I expected better service.
Again, our server was great!buttoo many tables for one!
caliber has diminished over the years. no tablecloths for this alleged fine dining establishment. server kept reaching across all of us to put things on table. Service felt like Applebees instead of XIX. I liked the old formal dining experience and I expected it but not this time. Not sure if I will return.
I was there with my wife for her birthday celebration. My friends recommended me to experience the food and service. We were very disappoint with our experience. When we got to the restaurant, the hostess saw us but continue doing what she was doing without acknowledge us. We have to say hi first for her to ask what can she help us with. I get better reaction from the hostess at Applebee's than her. She set us at a small table at the front area that looks like a lounge than a restaurant. My server, Dominic told me that's because they have a lot of event going on that night, and we should been notified when we made the reservation. ( that never happened). He did try to offer us free drinks to apologize for our seating arrangement.
We ordered Pan Seared Scallops and it tasted great. The scallops seared perfectly. We thought the entree were be even better, but we were wrong. We ordered New York strip and beef short ribs. The NY strip's temperature was perfect but the steak has no flavor. The chimichurri sauce was blend at best. The best part of the short rib was the veggies that comes with it. It soaked in the liver stew's flavor( that comes with the short rib) and it was very tasty. My wife ate all the veggies and barely ate the ribs. I tried the short rib and noticed there were so much fat on the short rib and I only had a few bits. The manager did stop by and asked us how we doing. My wife did tell him how we feel about the over all experience that we had. Our server did offer us free desert but at that point we just want to leave. He did take the appetizer off the bill as his apologies for our experience.
For a restaurant that represent itself as an elegant restaurant that offers an unparalleled dining experience. I was truly disappointment. I would expect much better service and the food. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.
We had a wedding at the Bellevue and everything was beautiful. At the time Nineteen was not open so we decided to come back for brunch. The waitress was slow and did not know the menu and we had to get the cream for our coffee. She filled our coffee to the top so we had to sip before picking up so we did not spill. I was expecting a much better experience
Generally good overall, although the night we went (Wednesday) it was quite slow, but they gave us some freebies to make up for it
If you like stale bread, multi hour meals due to poor service, and mediocre food, this is your place. Left before the dessert was served.
The servers were very nice and tried hard but they were overwhelmed. It took 30 mins for our drinks. We ordered the 3 course dinner that we thought came with wine pairings but were told it was additional charge? After 90 min dinner we could not wait for dessert as we were trying to make a show. I am sure we were over charged but I did not have time to discuss the bill as we paid and rushed out. The food was very good, but the service was disappointing.
Wait to be greeted by server= over 10 minutes
Champagne = room temperature (!!)
Brunch buffet = choices not replenished in timely fashion
Dessert choices= fabulous
Luba did everything she could to make us comfortable and serve us properly. It seems the Sat brunch was understaffed.
The service was great but the food wasn’t good. Steak was over cooked. Word of advice if you are going to spend this much money for a meal, go somewhere else.
The ambiance was amazing. The service was awesome. Definitely will recommend it to everyone !
The service was horrible. It would take at least 30 minutes to get a drink at an actual table. The restaurant had one server working with only 4 tables with guests and it was a nightmare. The seafood tower tasted horrible. Our server kept bringing us the wrong drinks and took our menus before we even ordered food. He wasnt the nicest person and we felt completely uncomfortable.
decent food served lukewarm with horrid service and a wobbly table to boot, with no tableclothes at this high end eatery.
XIX is superb: the beautiful venue, the delightful wait staff, the excellent wine selection and, of course, the delicious food. If you are looking for a relaxing meal, perfectly prepared and plated, served by helpful and pleasant professionals, amidst a magical setting, then XIX is the perfect place. The chef prepares nicely nuanced meals that are a enjoyable mix of flavors and textures. We have found it consistently relaxing and high quality.
Mundane, overpriced food, beautifully served by a highly competent waiter.
We went for my husband’s Aunt 91st birthday- we made a special request for a cake..they never followed through and the main entree took almost an hour ... we didn’t order alcohol; just water and tea..had only entree’s the bill for 5 of us came out to $240...portions were small and everything was a la cart...
The atmosphere is nice... it was clear they were understaffed with a big party came in... I will probably come back only for drinks..unlikely I will dine here again
I was immediately put off when I realized the Thanksgiving dinner was buffet. For the cost ($72 pp) I expected table service. Open Table didn’t list the menu or say it was a buffet meal. I walked through to see the offerings and decided it looked decent so we stayed. I wish we’d left!
Table service included service of drinks and clearing our plates after each trip up to the buffet and yet every time we went back to our table our plates were still there and our table unwiped. This led me to have to find a place for my dirty plate.
The food was tasteless. Literally everything we tried was devoid of flavor. The raw oysters were shucked horribly or not at all. They were filled with broken shell and you had to dig out the oyster. Then once you got it in your mouth it was flavorless. The turkey was not dry but it was cold.
There were no high points to this overpriced meal. I’ll never return. Can’t understand why anyone gives this high marks. In Philadelphia there is no shortage of good restaurants. This isn’t one of them and I’m offended to have spent so much on such a terrible meal.
