Food was amazing however the service could be better considering it’s a fine dining establishment.
Went with a group of friends for a Saturday brunch food was delicious and the service was excellent.
small portions . food was not anything special . overpriced . good service and mixed drinks .
The restaurant seemed to be understaffed--although the food was delightful once we finally ordered.........
Great value for a Sunday brunch. Spectacular city views and stunning room. The food was very good. However, on a second trip to the buffet, many of food displays were near empty. But most disappointing was the service. Dirty dishes were not cleared from our table, coffee not refilled without request, just not very attentive.
I've always liked XIX. I've had afternoon cocktails, happy hour and dinner here. They have all been enjoyable. Brunch however was uneventful for me. I so looked forward to going to XIX for brunch, but was disappointed. I had the chicken an waffles and found it low on flavor. My friend had the swordfish and thought it was fantastic. I probably should have gone with my second choice, but really wanted to try the chicken and waffles ala XIX. I will definitely be back to XIX for dinner or drinks, but probably won't do the brunch again.
We visited this restaurant to celebrate a friend’s 50th Birthday. The dining room is beautifully decorated and very welcoming. The wait for everything from the delivery of the wine to the food was absolutely torturous. It was just awful. The wine we selected was out of stock and the choice they provided as a replacement was horrible. The food was decent, but the rest of the experience was so painful that it ruined enjoying the food. We will not be back unless we see reviews showing that they have corrected whatever is going on with the staffing. So disappointing.
Perfect brunch with my fam!
While this wasn't my first trip to XIX, it was my first dinner experience. Since I have enjoyed brunch and lunch at the restaurant, I decided to give it a shot for dinner. The ambience is one of the best in the city. The views from both the bar and restaurant are spectacular! The food far exceeded my expectations. I had the trout dish and it was probably the best fish I've ever ordered out. My husband and I were there with longtime friends and they also were impressed with their food and said they had a perfect evening! I also appreciated that the restaurant was not loud. Highly recommend XIX, and I'm looking forward to going back!
Bathrooms are one floor down....quite a distance. Expensive for the quality of food.
Good food, great cocktails. Nice "retreat" in the city
I don't go out of my way to say bad things -- but I'll make an exception in this case. We waited over a half hour between our appetizer and our main course and by the time the food was brought we had to leave -- which the staff knew when we arrived. The menu sounds great; the reality, not so much. My $30+ venison had two small pieces of meat, one of which was overcooked and the other undercooked, and both smelled like they had been handing around the kitchen a few days too many. The wait staff couldn't have been nicer, but they were clearly in disarray -- we had a different waiter every few minutes, and you could tell from the frantic interactions between them and the wild rerouting of dishes to different tales that something clearly wasn't right. It's one of the greatest dining spaces in the city, and has always been one of my favorites spots. So, it's a shame, but I wouldn't go back, and neither should anyone else.
XIX was amazing. And Rasheed the waiter made it so nice! We waited a tiny bit extra time, and they gave us complimentary wine. The place is absolutely beautiful too!
Very small menu. Seafood didn’t taste fresh. Not the same restaurant it used to be
The atmosphere is lovely, but food and service were both merely okay. My friend and I both had the lunch special, and the salad bar was the only really good part of the meal, with fresh and unusual salads. But the bread was stale and the fish greasy and overcooked. The desserts were cute to look at, but cloyingly sweet. I wouldn't come back.
Our waitress Banche was very helpful and accommodating when special requests arose. We were lucky in that it wasn't too crowded, Sunday at 11:30 for brunch
Great food and service. My dining partner also reiterated the same.
My mom and I like to go to XIX when we have shows to attend; we found the Saturday Cafe Lunch Table to be a great value with delicious options. However, at our recent visit to XIX we found that it had been renovated. The rotunda and dining rooms are lovely. However, we noticed that the menu was changed. The Cafe Lunch Table was no longer offered, and was replaced with a Cafe Brunch. My mom and I were disappointed with this changed, but we stayed to give it a try. My mom is not a breakfast/brunch person. She got the crab cake while I got the fish of the day. My mom did not enjoy her food; my food was good but I think I would try something else if I come back. The only thing my mom enjoyed from the dinning experience was the shrimp from the raw bar. We also didn’t like that the Cafe Brunch was more expensive than the Cafe Lunch Table. Sadly, I don’t think that we’ll be returning to XIX for our pre-theater dining experience - the food was good, but not really to our liking and it now cost more. I might come back again on my own just because I want to try someyhing else on the menu, but my mom probably will not return.
Recently remodeled. Wait staff is excellent. Menu was fresh and seasonal. Cocktails were delicious, all our courses were tasty. For our special occasion the price was well worth it.
Very nice restaurant and glad to see it re-open after renovations. We enjoyed a great meal by the window for four. Our meals were great and we were not rushed. We arrived around eight p.m. and closed the place. One mishap was we were entered as NoShows for dinner. Open Table was quick to assist us with the mistake. We told the hostess we used Open Table to make our reservations, told her our name and time and she still decided to ignore it and not check us in. Next time I won't sit down until they acknowledge it on the screen. Great restaurant, you should try it.
There was a large party in the main room, so I guess we got the B team. Cooled soup, warm kir royale. There were small potatoes instead of mushrooms in my mushroom risotto. This is an example of why you should not go to a restaurant in a hotel; no regular clientele so the staff doesn't care.
25 minutes to get a drink when there were only 5 tables. Almost left. Got wrong meal, but ran out of time. Told waiter 4 times what I wanted. He got it wrong. Several waitstaff just standing around
Good location for before theater. Too bad I’ll never go again
We just had appetizers and they were very good. Wine was excellent and served very cold.
This is one of the most beautiful restaurants in the city with excellent food and service. Highly recommended.
We celebrated our mother's 81st birthday at XiX on 10/20/18. Everyone - hostess, bartender, server - was incredibly friendly, gracious, and accommodating. The bar is inviting with comfortable seating, a fireplace (which was not in use as it was not very cold outside), and a nice view of the city. The dining room is exquisite with plush window treatments and an elegant ambiance. Service was prompt and the food was delicious. It was my second time dining here and I will be back again for other special occasions. It is the perfect place to celebrate.
It was a great experience, the service was great and my dish was delicious .
Beautiful view of south broad street. I had a great girls night and will dine again.
We were sitting right next to the window and had the best night view of philly. Fantastic dining experience!
We love brunch here. The food is always incredible. They have something for everybody but my favorite is the steak which is always cooked perfectly and tastes amazing. The service is excellent and so is the ambience. It’s one of my favorites In Philadelphia.
Lunch today was delicious.
Had the crab sandwich, no filler, real crab & juicy
My guest had the crab salad & shrimp .. she raved.
Shrimp made perfect not overcooked like most places have a habit of doing
We shared sorbet ...blood orange, peach & strawberry..perfect for the hottest day this year.
Heard the restaurant is getting a face lift, so by cooler weather we'll be back for another happy meal.
Sent many visitors here that stop by the Kimmel Center when they want a good meal close by, not one ever complained.....that's a good sign
We had a fabulous experience at XIX! The hostess was amazing- very kind, polite and went above and beyond when taking our picture. Ened was very knowledgeable and helpful with navigating the menu. Overall, our entire experience and everything about the dinner was lovely!
Beautiful location, great views , excellent service, top quality ingredients in well-prepared dishes. I always recommend it. However, I did not realize that on Saturdays, they have added a raw bar to the cafe lunch, which makes it $10 more expensive. It is still a nice luncheon in a fabulous place, but if you don't eat seafood, it is a better deal to come for the fixed price lunch on a different day.
The food here is definitely worthy of 3 Stars on Michelin!!!
Absolutely the best baked oysters I’ve even eaten!!! Incomparable!!
And the crab salads are equally good and well plated.
Don’t know why it was so quiet when I lunched there the other day; I don’t mind as long as I can return again soon.
Be aware these dishes will only remain on the lunch menu Monday-Friday until mid September.
Go and enjoy!!!
we were there on a rainy day so could not really appreciate the city views but the indoor decor was lovely and especially loved the pearl string chandelier hanging from the ceiling; staff were all friendly and helpful; brunch buffet menu had good variety; overall had a nice milestone birthday celebration!!
This was our second time at Sunday brunch. We enjoyed our first brunch and came back a second time. This time we were celebrating the anniversary of our parents. We had a good experience again and were impressed that the waitress brought our parents a special dessert to help us celebrate their anniversary.
This restaurant is very beautiful inside. Great for special occasion, romantic dinner.
The service was amazing, but the food was subpar for the amount that you pay. You’re practically paying for the view because it’s definitely not the food.
Overall a great dining experience. I found this option after doing a quick search on Yelp and Google. I'm a fan of historic places (especially such a historic place as the Bellevue) so being able to eat dinner in such a beautiful location was a real treat.
A couple of high points: the stuffed trout was delicious. My wife and I shared the main dish with two sides and had plenty of food. The view and building itself is gorgeous. Our waiter was great, personable and attentive. I forgot his name, sorry.
The parts we thought could be better: the cocktails were pretty plain. My Old Fashioned was pretty standard fare, not much flair in presentation or preparation (we had a pre-dinner cocktail at a local bar that really set the 'bar' high here). Another pet peeve, the music was bland (really, really smooth jazz, background music). I'm not a music snob but would think a deeper dig into the era this building was built and a nod to Philadelphia history could stimulate some conversation over dinner (what famous musicians stayed here, who played here?). If nothing else a refresh of the music selection would go a long way. Live music would be amazing, even if played in the lounge area. Finally, the decor, what you have here is a beautiful domed room that simply could not be reproduced anywhere else, but the furniture was dull and commercial. Please, when the renovations happen (I hear soon), invest in some period-correct furnishings, with modern twists (new fabric on old chairs), bring in some traditional elements to the space. That's what people want to experience when they go to a place like this! You can have an elegant decor without it being stuffy these days. Please avoid the standard, worn out modern furnishings and double down on the character and elegance of the space!
Kind staff and amazing food!
Had another fantastic meal here. Ever since they changed the chef, the food has been dynamite. The best tuna tartar I've ever had. The chicken a la king was amazing as well. The view is also amazing atop of The Bellevue Hotel. Shango provided exceptional service!
