XIX Nineteen - The Bellevue Hotel

The service was slow, even on a quiet night. It took too long between the appetizer and entree, and there were times that we had empty glasses for a while. While we were eating our entrees, I noticed that other tables were given bread, which would have been nice to have between those courses. Or, more ideally, from the beginning. The last comment I’ll make is that the menu is somewhat limited and doesn’t seem to change a lot (I was also there a few months ago) and with no specials available. Beyond the physical space- which is gorgeous- and the view, it was not a very impressive experience. Especially since there are so many other great restaurant options in the city.
Was disappointed in the Valentine fix menu. Not very many choices no fish. My husbands steak was very tough and why would you pan fry a steak. Was really looking forward to eating there and was disappointed. The restaurant is beautiful and service was good. Will go back to try again
This restaurant was absolutely beautiful! They treated myself and my date so well! The food was incredible and the service was extraordinary. We had such a lovely time and I would highly recommend XIX to anyone looking for a nice place with great service!
The place is very nice.
We ordered the raw bar and was delicious, I have ordered a sea bass it was good, my wife ordered a very good braised ribs. Ened and all the staff was very nice, they did a great job with us, my compliments!
Thanks for the great experience
I asked hostess to choose another table for us.
There were at least 3 other options that I saw
She said they were spoken for and she could not
We were the last seating and they were never filled
We love 19 and go often
Although our waiter was good, he had so many table that it took a very long time between courses. It was also difficult to get his attention if we needed another drink etc.
The service was outstanding. I was very impressed with the staff.
The only draw back is waitress took a bit of time coming back with our check and we were going to a concert then she forgot return the credit card so we had to go back.
Our hostess who greeted us warmly, and at our request moved us to a table for two next to a window and far from a somewhat noisy table next to which she had first seated us. The server was equally responsive and helpful. The hostess later helped us locate elevators, retrieved our coats, and answered our other questions. We had the impression that the staff were well treated, glad to be there themselves, and therefore receptive to their guests as well.
Our server was great food was good just small portion size
The waitress rushes us to the second course.
Feeled like they dont wants us to use buffet much.
Buffett food was way better than the second course they brought us while we were still eating.
We checked in @ the the bar because the hostess was busy. Once she was alerted of our arrival she seemed somewhat annoyed. The restaurant was nowhere near capacity, but yet our server wasn't attentive at all. We waited 10-15 after being seated to place a beverage order. This order was taken by management because our server never acknowledged us. I also alerted the restaurant that it was my husband's birthday. Unfortunately no mention of this by any of the staff members. We have no plans to return.
Great view, very good food and service. Considering the ambiance and food quality the price was quite reasonable- less than many other ‘high end’ dining spots. Nice place for a romantic dinner. Only minor complaint is that background music was a little too loud. Why do restaurants even have background music at all? who wants it?
We ate there on a Wednesday evening because we had tickets to a play. The room was beautiful in its Victorian decor but they did not put the heat on so it was quite cold. We sat by the window for a view but we were only able to see the building next-door. We each ordered an appetizer and an entree. We did not have any drinks. The menu is limited. There was a choice of two salads and one soup for appetizers. As an entrée we ordered trout, bass, and duck breast. The fish dishes were delicious but the duck was tough and almost raw in the center of the breast. We expected it to be thinly sliced but it was served in two large chunks. We ordered 2 coffees and one apple dumpling for the table for dessert. The dumpling consisted of 2 empanadas filled with apples. Ice cream on top was an extra charge. Including tax and tip the bill came to just over $250 which seemed excessive for what we received. At this price point there are many other restaurants in Philadelphia to choose from that have more to offer. We will not return.
XIX Nineteen is a fabulous spot with beautiful decor and a classy atmosphere. The high high tea was everything we hoped it would be, with tasty tea and delicious bites. What’s more, the service was excellent. We arrived one day prior by a mistake that was probably ours, but they graciously worked with us and offered us a reservation the next day. Our server was kind and down-to-earth and every person we interacted with had th let customer experience front and center. I can’t recommend this restaurant enough and look forward to returning.
The food was very good, but the service was lacking. We were shown to a table with crumbs on the seats and no silverware. I brushed off the crumbs and took sliverware from another table. Why didn't I ask the waiter? Because he disappeared for 20 minutes, so if I wanted to eat, I had to get my own silverware. Coffee took 10 minutes to bring, and the drink we ordered took 30 minutes. The entrees came in a reasonable amount of time, and the brunch buffet was presented nicely. It was a good brunch, but for $50+ per person, I expect better service.
The whole experience was outstanding!! Only thing that didn’t go as plan was the window view I had requested. Our service Khadijah did offer when I mentioned it to her , but I was to close to the other table. Khadijah was excellent. She even went above went i mentioned to her it was our wedding anniversary. She had the chef put a anniversary chocolate on our desert plate . She was just a joy to have as our sever. The food was excellent , mean from the baby leaf salad , to the vegetable ravioli, to the carrot cake . The drinks were great as well. The restaurant it’s self is so beautiful, I mean the website does it no justice at all. We will return again !! Thank you
We were there for lunch during restaurant week. We had a wonderful dining experience!
Our food was amazing. Cooked to perfection. Our waiter was very pleasant and so was the rest of the staff.
I was there 3 days ago went back order the same thing as soon as I put my folk in the food I knew it wasn't the same chef I literally would day dream about that dish it wasn't nasty Ariel gets a 10 and who ever cooked today gets a 6 I'm so sad about it
My lunch at XIX was excellent! The service was great and the food was delicious! The value was great since we dined during restaurant week. I have been before and i will definitely go again!
This was unanimously my group's favorite restaurant week experience. The buffet bar had a great selection of salads and other other appetizers, and at the end of the meal had a great selection of desserts from which to choose. Of course everyone raved also about the main course which focused more on flavor than quantity, but this was perfect with the buffet to support it. A great meal and a great value.
It is always a pleasure to visit the beautiful rotunda dining room on the top floor of the Belleview. The center spread of salads, charcuterie, cheeses and desserts is pretty and of very high quality. Lunch consists of help-yourself appetizer and desserts and a main course. The main courses were beautifully prepared and very tasty. Our waiter was helpful and charming. Overall a very nice experience in a beautiful setting.
Service was impeccable, from the woman who took our coats and showed us to our seating, the server, and the person who brought out every dish. No loud music was a major plus; it meant that everyone could chat comfortably without screaming over the noise to hear one another. Would definitely like to book for an occasion in the future.
Best food I ever ate
Restaurant Week. Definitely worth it. Big selection. Beautifully presented.
Nothing special about brunch. Would not recommend
I went with a group of 9 for Restaurant Week. They restaurant was beautiful, quite accommodating to changes in our reservation size, and a great value due to the RW prices.
The menu was limited due to it being restaurant week. The best dish was the salad. Food was served in a beautiful setting but this isn't a place I want to return to.
Excellent salad and appetizer spread. Wide varieties of desserts. Great value for restaurant week.
I know the restaurant was recently renovated. I think some of the character has been lost, but the space is still wonderful. I think some additional detailing would make the space a bit warmer to bring back some of the flair from the past.
The waiter was very attentive and the service was fantastic,I felt very special and it was my Birthday but not exactly I celebrate my Birthday the whole month of January
Service was outstanding! When we were being seated a table opened up by the window so the hostess asked us to wait for a minute for them to clear this table for us to sit there. We happily waited to enjoy the view of the city! The pearls hanging from the ceiling were so pretty!
Great atmosphere and great space. Visited as part of Center City Restaurant Week 2020. Had wild boar shank which was super. Meat fell off the bone. Desert was peanut butter cheesecake. Very good. Very ni e view of downtown.
It was very cold by the windows. The food was delicious, but the portions were very small.
Recently dined here for brunch with a friend who had never been to Nineteen. I had been here before a few years ago, and enjoyed it, which is why I suggested it. I was very disappointed in the quality of the food for the price. The shrimp on the buffet was extremely mushy, the salads were bland and the fruit did not taste fresh. I received my entree, and it was not right- eggs were sunny side up when I asked for scrambled and my steak was extremely bloody when asked to have it medium well. Once the steak was cooked right, it was probably the cheapest cut of meat they could offer...extremely tough and flavorless. Our waitress spent more time chatting with the next table, than being attentive to our orders. Overall, for $45 per person, this was just not worth it. You would expect top notch quality at the Bellevue Hotel, but they have really gone downhill . I will not be returning in the future.
Perfect in every way-food, ambiance, service!
The architecture with it’s soaring domed ceiling is so lovely but the space is too large to feel cozy. Our service was very good. My husband enjoyed his short ribs but my duck was a little tough and dry. Nice wine list.
So this rating can be taking many ways. I went there Saturday January 6 2020 for my birthday the atmosphere was amazing the staff was super friendly and the food was great. I had a amazing time with family and friends there was 11 of us and what I thought was a amazing night great service turned out to be a big surprise when I got a email from the restaurant yesterday. They stated we were short paying our bill in cash by $156. Me and four other people counted the cash several times and over paid as well for phenomenal service and then to be told this. I don’t remember what our servers name was but I had asked him before I left if he counted everything even though I had others double check but I wanted him to as well and he said over generous thank you so much greatly appreciated. Clearly someone pocketed some of the cash, and they just assumed it was ok to charge my card without permission on what they said was short when me and my table know darn well the server was not shorted. It disappoints me that this is happening. I’m not saying don’t go there, everything about the place was amazing but don’t pay cash cause god knows it might happen to you.
