Went for brunch to catch up with friends. Atmosphere is beautiful and brunch was great, the buffet was very nice and fresh and the entrees were generous and tasty. Dessert was lovely and drinks were great. Coffee was always hot, loved that our server Daniel took the cups to warm them up first. Great touch! Daniel was so nice and welcoming, we definitely lingered chatting the morning away! Daniel was so nice and never rushed us! It was the perfect catch up with friends that we had not seen in years!! Absolutely wonderful!
Food was luke warm service was outstanding.....
Drinks appeared to be watered down.
XIX was so pretty, however the food was lacking. I rather not pay so much for the ambiance, because that’s all I paid for. They definitely need a better chef.
Scheduled a reservation 2 weeks in advance and got seated 20 minutes after reservation time (after physically checking in at the front desk 20 minutes before my reservation). We were seated in the large party room after inquiring multiple times about the status of our reservation which was a very nice (and appreciated) accommodation. Our waiter was very nice as well, but the food was slow in coming out to our table. The food and service did not justify the price. The decor and ambience was gorgeous.
Great experience. Can’t wait to dine here again. No question.
Food was mediocre at best. Sat at 8, had to have dessert boxed to go at 1045 to get home to kids. This place used to be an experience, now it’s a gimmic.
Food was delicious. Took a long time to be served...but otherwise a very pleasant experience.
The waiter had too many tables. The food came out cold and not the way we asked it to he prepared. They rushed us to order. Served beer in a bottle. Then we waited 25 minutes for food to he served and 25 minutes for check at the end. They said our parking was 20 percent but turned out to be 6 percent. It was a birthday celebration, which they brought dessert with a candle that was not lite.
We will never return
Very romantic charming restaurant. Service was excellent.
Beautiful setting for a winter brunch!
Good place for conversation, not so much for food. Food arrived barely heated and way too salty. On the plus side, the waiter was excellent, and although we were there on a weekend it was nice and quiet.
It's been a while since we've dined at XIX. The room is still lovely. The sunset was beautiful.
The food was not as good as I'd remembered, but still creative if not perfectly executed. The carrot "cake" dessert was just plain odd.
The service was off. I had to remind the waiter about my husbands wine pairings. The initial drinks came out 10 minutes apart. The runner had no clue which table was which -- he kept asking diners if the plates he was carrying were theirs.
We'd allowed 1 hour and 45 minutes prior to curtain time, let the server know and we were still dashing out five minutes past our target time. This with the prix fixe dinner.
No wonder the place was half empty on a Friday night with theaters full. Hopefully this was a fluke and XIX will go back to its excellent level of service and food.
This restaurant exceeded our expectations! We came to town for the auto show and wanted a romantic dinner; this was the perfect place. The customer service was excellent, and our server, Ened, was great as well. He was very knowledgeable on the menu and the taste of the food. Ened made us feel welcome and he was very attentive. Everyone on staff worked hard to make sure we were fully accommodated. Not to mention, the decor in the dining room is amazing, and there are excellent views from the windows. Overall, this is a wonderful place to dine.
Numerous visits over the years to tis fine restaurant have not diminished our thoughts that this is definitely one of the finest restaurants in Philadelphia
It was my birthday. We waited over 45 mins to be seated and we wanted over an hour for food. Food was just ok no good value for money.
Outstanding and Always a Step Above...
Great location and wonderful views. Food was OK, but OK not good enough. Crab cake was not particularly flavorful or interesting. Risotto was a bit wet and lacking in the mushrooms promised.
preshow excellent,fine service,atmosphere outstanding
Everything excellent and the new waiter for Salt Lake City added to our enjoyment.
It was my first time there. We really enjoyed the atmosphere and the food. Service was also great!
It was my first time at XIX Nineteen. I took my fiance for his 30th birthday and he absolutely loved it. The food was delicious. I had steak with mashed potatoes and he ordered the salmon and the pumpkin cheesecake for dessert. We paired both meals with a glass of Pinot Noir and our waiter was extremely polite and helpful (I totally forgot his name), but I would highly recommend this place.
We stayed at the hotel and had dinner at XIX. There was barely anyone there but we had wonderful service and the meat and cheese board was sooooooo delicious. Pretty pricey but a nice night.
Food was amazing. Our servers were fantastic and friendly.
This was a quiet restaurant with excellent staff. Very responsive. The menu was set but they accommodated us letting us get a hamberger in the dining room.
Wonderful. Delicious. A fave lunch spot. Worth the extra money.
Last Sunday 7 friends and I attended a surprise Birthday Brunch at XIX. The service was atrocious and the food, very mediocre. Our server was very sweet and pleasant-mannered but utterly inefficient and untrained in fine dining. We waited far too long (about 10-15 minutes) to place our initial drink order. After we ordered, she brought the birthday girl her free Mimosa but no one else had their drinks with which to toast her. Our server left dirty glassware and plates on the table between courses, so that when we returned from the buffet with new plates, the old ones were still there and in the way. She failed to ask if we wanted another round of cocktails, which we did. I would have ordered wine when the entrees were served but our server failed to return in a timely manner. I was finally able to ask the bar manager who was passing our table for a wine list, which she never brought. Finally, I had to go to the bar to get my own wine. Our server never asked if our meals were satisfactory after the entrees were served. She did not refill our water glasses. Our coffee did not arrive until after we were finished with dessert, even though we asked for it when we began the dessert course. There were other serving mistakes, but most of all I am struck not by our server’s mistakes but by the management’s failure to train its waitstaff.
As for the food, my fish, the special of the day, was dry and over cooked. My friend’s hollandaise sauce had a peculiar taste, as if they were trying to jazz up what should be a classic sauce. On the good side, the fresh oysters were excellent. The dining room ambience is glorious! But the service and food should match. Not to mention at these prices, both should be impeccable.
Had dinner last night with friends at XIX nineteen at the Belleview. We were extremely disappointed. Started with no hostess at station. FOUND her in conversation with wait staff. Went to bar for a cocktail while waiting for rest of party. Bartender - don’t know his name but he had a beard - was not pleasant, bordered rude with a sarcastic remark. Was seated at our table and had a very pleasant/attentive waiter. Food was late, unimpressive, and wrong. One dish came out that was not ordered, a steak arrived that was well done and ordered medium rare. Replacement steak arrived long afterward everyone else had finished dinner. I ordered crab cakes and salmon was delivered. The crab cakes also came out late and were mushy and mostly filling. So in my opinion, out of 5 stars it’s a negative 1.
They double charged my credit card and have not responded to me to reverse charge.
Had a New Year day dinner with my wife. Added a special note when the reservations were made. XIX didn't address my note at all. I would have been satisfied with a response of no but even with the pre-call confirmation, no acknowledgement of my request. I don't if or how its shared with the restaurant. Although the food was tasty, I wasn't pleased with the portions (1 small size crab cake and 2 small scallops). The service was excellent. There weren't many people there so it was quiet but it had that feel like it could be a loud fun place with a crowd. With all of the good restaurants in Philly, XIX didnt make my list. I probably won't be going back..
The young woman working was amazing and exceeded all of our expectations
My wife and I had a wonderful experience at the Sunday Brunch. The service was attentive, excellent and the four courses were very good. The atmosphere was perfect for a nice and relaxing brunch.
Been many times and every time it’s special. Must go
Very tasty food. Long wait though. Maybe because of lack of staff during holidays. Waiters are helpful.
A shame that you can't eat the ambiance - the dining room is almost certainly the most beautiful in the city.
The seafood oriented menu is a decided plus, but sloppy execution undercuts what actually arrives at your table. Soggy, mushy dishes suggest that they were made in advance and held under a heat lamp or dome. Conversely, the excellent cheeses are served ice cold straight out of the refrigerator - some tempering at room temperature would be welcome.
We returned to XIX because it's a great venue for special occasions. XIX has an inventive menu, solid wine list, and unique craft cocktails. It's an experience to eat at XIX, and worth it! Excellent service as well.
For the price and location it was underwhelming at best.
Had brunch on Dec. 23rd. Food was poor, with the exception of the raw bar, first course. Main course wasn't good at all. Nothing was served hot. Service was slow. Coffee was luke warm, and the bloody Mary wasn't good. Way over priced for the experience. Ambiance was great. Totally unexpected given it was XIX.
We went for breakfast as a festive family meal before the Nutcracker. It was completely disorganized and under staffed. We were told to do the buffet because it would take too long to order off the menu. The staff were clearly overwhelmed. We received a discount on our bill without even asking (I guess the staff all knew the morning was less than ideal). It was a big disappointment for something that we thought would be a wonderful family meal at what used to be one of Philadelphia’s best hotels.
Always a delightful dinner and experience. I would recommend it for a nice evening.
Dimly a lovely brunch! Dessert not so much, but everything else was great!
