We come here every year for out anniversary and have not been disappointed.
Great find for Thai - excellent food and outstanding service. Was there for a business meal, good energy, will definitely be back.
Xanh is our go to place for upscale Vietnamese food, but since the change of hands, food quality is dropping. We will give it 2 or 3 more tries, and if if does not get back to like it was before , we will look for a new place.
Another fine meal. Plenty of veg*n options, even if a little fewer than a couple of years ago, IIRC. Thanks.
I had the lunch buffet which is really amazing. There are lots of choices including meat dishes, vegetables, salads, rolls and even Pho. Everything is quite tasty and a great deal. I will come back more often
Overall the ambiance and bar situation were fun but the food was pretty limited for vegetarians and the options I tried were just OK flavor wise. I’d recommend but mainly for drinks or meat eaters.
Everything is sweet, even the soup. It tasted just like warm pineapple juice with some salt...
Had a great double birthday celebration and dinner! Food was fresh and delicious. They were very kind in letting us finish our dessert as they closed for the night. Will definitely go back!
Our server did not come by for about 40 minutes after the food was dropped off. Drinks including water and alcoholic beverages were not refilled. The food was interesting and fine, but disappointing for the price point. The bussers were not great at food delivery or table clean up. Generally expect better for food delivery when a starter costs $18. Overall, the entire experience was disappointing for the price. They’re asking you to pay for the interior decorating and ambiance.
Was disappointed to find the place almost empty on a Friday night, considering that the vibe of the restaurant seemed to be really vibrant and the decor hints that it's a loungey, loud vibe. The food was delicious though and service was on point (probably bc no one else was really around).
We had great service and great food. We were just passing through, and stayed nearby. This was a great find for us
This restaurant should never have accepted an 8pm reservation. Within 30 mins of sitting down we were told the bar was closing. Within 45 mins they informed us the restaurant would be closing . Our check was put on our table and plates cleared - including unfinished wine glass.
Food is the best though!
Disappointing experience. Had an 8.45pm reservation and immediately after being seated were told kitchen closes in 20 mins? Everything from then on was very rushed, entrees arriving before appetizers and staff cleaning up while we were still eating. Ok if this is a budget restaurant but when spending $150 it’s not what you expect.
Great Selection for lunch. The Buffet had a great selection of different foods
Excellent Vietnamese restaurant in Mountain View. Had an after matinee theatre reservation, and stumbled upon Happy Hour on a Sunday. Great small plates and inexpensive drinks. Beautiful decor. Wonderful fun! Server was attentive, but mixed up our bill with someone else's. Otherwise, would have given five stars for Service, too.
We had a delicious meal and drinks at Xanh. They had nice drink options, delicious appetizers and main dishes. We ordered quite a few appetizers and wanted to wait to order dinner until after we had received our appetizers, this seemed to confuse our waitress, she offered to hold our order until we were ready for dinner, but we repeated that we wanted to wait on the dinner order until we had our appetizers because we didn't know how hungry we would be after the appetizers. When we were ready to order the main dishes we ordered quite a few. My sister said she thought we over ordered, as the quantity is quite large per dish. We ended up canceling one of the dishes. Thank goodness we did as we would have had WAY too much food. After finishing our meal and asking for boxes our waitress bought us our check. No asking if we wanted anything else, dessert, coffee. Everything and everyone else was lovely, but the waitress kind of put a damper on the whole experience.
Delicious food, and wonderful service. So many options, very quickly presented. Excellent cocktails. Very attentive server, not intrusive at all. One of my very favorite restaurants.
great place for lunch business meeting but also personal dinner
The all-you-can-eat lunch buffet suffers from two major issues:
1. Three of the dishes are labeled with "basa fish", "catfish", and "fish." In reality, they are all the exact same: basa fish. Unfortunately, basa fish is the cheapest and most toxic fish on the market. It is imported from the Mekong delta in Viet Nam, and comes from massive farms which are the most polluted in the world. Basa fish should not be consumed.
2. Service has deteriorated to the point that you get ZERO service nowadays. If you want a glass of water, you have to go to the next room and fill your glass yourself. Nonetheless, when the check comes, they offer three choices for your tip, "18%, 20%, and 22%." Really???
The food is good and atmosphere nice. They really worked hard to make an interesting menu
We remain regulars because Xanh earns our loyalty. Attentive service. A wide variety of shared dishes disappointed none of the six of us.
Xanh has great food, but we went there on a weekday around 6:00, and the noise was stratospheric. I sat across the table from someone I absolutely could not hear. When we exited the restaurant, a fire engine with a siren went by, and it was quieter outside than in. I'll never go there again. My throat was sore from yelling in conversation.
Great place for a group
Very nice up scale Vietnamese eatery. Serving traditional Vietnamese dishes, plus a nice compliment of fusion interpretations on the region. Sophisticated & modern decor that is in keeping with the higher price points. Service was a bit spotty by the people are all very friendly.
We had dinner with friends before going to a play; we informed the server of this and she exceeded all of our expectations. We shared a salad, one appetizer, and two entrees. Everything was excellent and the presentation was superb. We would highly recommend this restaurant.
Veg lunch options expanded with an additional cauliflower dish, spicy tofu and a fried vegetable roll. Ready-to-eat lunch for the twenty-minute lunch "hour". Enough service for a serve-yourself affair.
Modern restaurant with good service but the portions are very small and prices are too high. Not worth it.
Service was poor, food was okay, some items were cold, some over cooked. Very loud and difficult to carry a conversation.
The food was good, the place was super packed for lunch.
The fusion menu is very interesting.
restaurant and service is very good. Your follow up regarding phone reservation is poor. Your voicemail states that you will call back in two hours---I never received a phone call. So I decided to go on-line to sign up for reservation----if I wasn't near a computer then the reservation would have never occurred. If you specific reservation is by phone or on-line then you need to follow through.
Great service. Kobe beef roll and Rack of Lamb were excellent.
Lunch buffet for 14.95 is a pretty good deal. The selection is pretty good for both vegetarian and meat dishes. I especially liked the jalapeno deep fried tofu cubes.
I've gone to eat at Xahn for many years now. I noticed that the food quality has gone down. I didn't feel that it was as good as the past few years. Glad that it survived this long in Mountain View but with other delicious offerings on Castro Street, Xahn needs to be a bit more inventive with their menus and the taste.
Elegant meal recommended by friends from work. Glad we made reservations as the place was very busy. We had the Shaking Beef and Lemon Grass Chicken. Both were fantastic - not sure which I would choose next time!
It was my first time at Xanh, and I was apprehensive about Vietnamese fusion as many places tried it and didn't impress. Surprisingly this is good, in quality, presentation, portion for small plates and entrées. The Yellow Noodle dish is exceptional. The place is large and can host multiple parties at the same time. I would highly recommend it for group parties and family dining.
I made reservations for lunch, meeting some friends from out-of-town. Open Table confirmed my reservations one day before. But when we arrived, we found that the restaurant was closed for the day!
Xanhs is always good. The menu is creative, the food good and the service friendly. The food is Vietnamese with a lot of California creativity added A must try for the Peninsula
Although we've been fans of this restaurant for many years now, we were recently extremely upset & disappointed when my Open Table reservation for my husband's 11/16 Surprise B'day party for us & 8 friends. Even though I had confirmed this reservation & then even reconfirmed it by dropping off a cake & balloon that same afternoon, they simply weren't able to give us the table for 10 that I booked!! We were all on time & they were apologetic but would only allow us to sit at separate tables which is no good even if next to each other when many of us would have our backs facing each other.
They never even offered us any incentive to return, NOTHING!
I think that the Open Table staff should consider reviewing reservation policies with them. I mean they didn't even tell us that there were any tables coming up soon or offering us free drinks. They just said "sorry other parties were here ahead of you", but then they shouldn't
have accepted my 7:15 reservation for 10 people either, right?
I was terribly embarrassed & disappointed.
My husband and I had dinner here on date night (Sat. night, 7 pm) away from the kids. We ordered the Chilean Sea Bass wrapped in a banana leaf and the vegetarian version of mellow yellow noodles(with tofu). We felt that the sea bass was a bit fishy and the portion small for its price ($38). We thought the noodles were undercooked, and the dish was too oily. It was very loud, too, so it was hard to hear my husband talk! I noticed one of the rooms was completely empty. I don't know if the management or chef changed, but Xanh seems to have gone downhill compared to other times I ate there.
