Food and service was good. The only problem when we ask another waiter to order us an appetizer she didn't order nor did she let our waiter know we wanted something and and she might want to check on us, lame. Other than, it was weird how they were calling last call at the bar when it was only 8:30pm...
Greatly appreciate their reading my request and having the extra touches ready upon arrival. The food was quite good. the service started a little slow, but improved as the night went on. ultimately, we had a very nice evening. thanks to the folks at Xahn
Great outdoor seating. Generous portions and speedy service.
Having made reservations for a special occasion and arriving with four near teenage kids in tow, the staff decided that we should be in the BAR AREA. When asked for a table in the DINING ROOM, we get blank hostile looks. Having to find our own table we asked for one, of course in a COMPLETELY EMPTY dining room, that one was RESERVED. Apparently, making up another multi-seat table was beyond the ability of those people to understand.
The food has not improved over the years we have been coming to this place. The back dining areas are not even presentable on a Saturday evening with piles of table linen on the tables and none of those tables dressed properly.
Overall, a poor excuse for such an expensive meal venue.
My wife and I went for their buffet lunch. We were pleased that most dishes were not too spicy, although some may want it spicier. The pho was excellent, outstanding beef broth onto which you can add meat, rice noodles, bean sprouts, a dthe other components as desired. We found the other offerings good but not great as everything tasted strongly of lemongrass. Deserts are mostly limited to thin tapioca and fruit typical of most Asian cuisines.
It is noisy but the food is wonderful. Always enjoy it!
Food is well prepared and presented but rather bland. Service is very friendly and reasonably quick. Dining room is blah.
I used to like the food, quality and taste seem to have declined.
We were disappointed with our meal. My wife ordered a dish with jumbo shrimp and had to send it back, the quality of the jumbo shrimp was poor, very tough. I had shaking beef, while editable, was not as good as I am used to nor good for this price point.
I don't recommend this restaurant.
The food was a buffet that was very picked over, noodles where dry from being in heated serving dishes. I will not return.
As always, the food at Xanh is excellent. We ordered the braised pork belly roll, the papaya salad, shaking beef, and Xanh banana leaf sea bass - everything was absolutely delicious. We sat outside on the sidewalk side of the outdoor area, our table nestled against the restaurant front. We'd recommend trying to get a table on the other side of the sidewalk, nearer the street, as everyone walking past our table was close enough to nearly bump into us as they passed. One uncovered sneeze by a passing pedestrian and our meal could have been ruined. Our server was great, though her support staff was a bit slow to replenish our water, and the sea bass was delivered before our appetizers - quickly corrected once our primary server took note of the situation. All in all, this was a great meal and we look forward to returning once more.
The food was pretty good. The service was ok. They brought our food one dish at the time. I finished my entree before my husband's came out.
The food was ok. Shrimp was over cooked but the rolls and potstickers were actually pretty good. Service was horrible though. Our server ignored us almost the entire time. Food was very slow to come out. Overall not worth the high prices!
The food at the buffet lunch is good but they persistently are negligent in replenishing the food.
I have enjoyed Xanh in the past, but on this occasion the service was very poor and the food was very average.
Very poor service, food and value. It was empty and now I know why.
Bad service, extremely loud, food not great. We would never go back.
The wait staff was not terribly interested in our table. There was a hair in the salad, although the hostess apologized profusely and brought another salad. The noise level was ok, although I can imagine it could be a problem if the restaurant is busy.
Over the years has been my favorite go to restaurant. I guess I haven't been there for a while. Food was still quite good (not great the way it used to be), but services was slow, with just a handful of other patrons in the place. Waitress would disappear for long spells; we would have ordered more drinks (where restaurants make their profit) if we'd service was otherwise. The restaurant itself has seen better days; it looks like there's been no investment in the facilities (floor tiles cracked and dirty; table tops needed to be sanded and re-varnished. All the other restaurants on Castro were packed; Xanh was mostly empty other than the outdoor seating (others figured it out long before me).
Excellent food and drinks, but noisy by train and car
One of the best restaurants in Mountain View!
Food was really good. But the service was so so.
Understaffed, quality has diminished since last vist 4 years ago. Cheaper ingredients used noticeably!
Appetizer portions and salads were giant sized and very unappetizing to look at. Everything was big, large calamari rings, large Tofu blocks, large chunks of chicken in the Satay. The chef must be from Cheesecake Factory. We decided not to eat the main course, way too much food and we lost our appetite. Drinks we’re okay. Service was awful, the servers were nice but very understaffed - took very long to even take our order.
The quality of food did not appear to be as good as the last time I was able to visit Mountain View a year ago.
I have been many times, unfortunately, the quality has declined.
This used to be our longtime favorite restaurant for date nights or entertaining friends. The food was always fresh and consistently excellent! We took our family there last weekend and were disappointed to find that some of our favorite dishes were slightly changed (not for the better) and both of our fish dishes were overcooked. The service was slow and our food came out in a strange order (the rice and side veggies came at the very end after we had finished the mains). Finally, we used to love the unique and delicious desserts (the chocolate mousse pyramid), but the desserts are now ordinary and meh. I'm so sorry to say that we will not be returning to Xahn!
Xanh was once our go to spot for a fun night out. Unfortunately the atmosphere has completely changed. It is mostly empty for Friday dinner around 7:30pm. They came by at 8pm to announce that their kitchen was closing and started striking tables as we were finishing dinner and they put a closed sign on the front door. Service was poor . Food was not as exciting , creative, or high quality as before and the prices were higher.
Always great quality and flavor and presentation. This is our favorite high end Vietnamese restaurant. The buffet is the best. Good customer service too. It is a fancy place but feels homey. Good for couples or families.
We loved our evening. Thank you.
Luv this restaurant! They now have Happy Hour seven days a week in the bar. They have tables there, too. Their "Flights" menu is an inexpensive, innovative, and a delicious way to introduce authentic Vietnamese food and cocktails. Great service, food, drinks, and decor. On my A list.
The food is outstanding and beautifully presented. Service is very friendly and efficient. The only negative is that the main dining room is too brightly lighted.
The bartender wasn't in. It was lunchtime. That probably says more about me than the restaurant. And the place was deserted. Maybe because it was servining an all you can eat buffet. That is certainly appreciated by us Asians and Indians, the few who value quantity. The white folk were on in or at the outdoor cafe of every other restaurant on the street on this perfectly pleasant day in Mountain View. Not sure what there is to not like about having exactly how much you want - or as little-- for a fixed price of $14.95. Without waiting. And is this the only restaurant to serve Vitnamese cuisine this way? Perhaps we feel a meal should be prepared just for us, to order, and for no one else, because we are special. My favorite item was garlic noodles.
Catfish and Yellow Noodles were excellent. Other items are just ok. Cocktails excellent. Issue is the price. Even for mountain view this place is over priced based on what you get.
We were very rushed when we made a reservation for 8:30 pm on Saturday night. We would have preferred you to just let us know prior that you were done for the evening.
The Sea Bass was very dry and seemed stale. The waitress asked us if we wanted our food boxed while we were still eating. Very disappointing experience
Excellent food and service! I highly recommend Xanh for a family or romantic dinner.
Thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at Xanh. They have introduced a new additional menu called Xanh Flight. In it, you choose from a variety of small “tapas” which encompasses Vietnamese cuisine along with some of their beer and cocktail menu. A terrific fun experience at an exceptionally low price. Highly recommend a trip to this lovely restaurant. Great food, service, ambiance at a price that can’t be beat. Will return!
The Xanh is an interesting Vietnamese restaurant we tried before a show on a Saturday night. The place is huge and the wall decorated with Michelin awards from the past letting hope for an amazing experience...
the hype was a little high. The room was noisy, the drinks underwhelming but the food was good. Shaking beef, cat fish hotpot, rolls were all tasty and the portions were right sized. All of that came to a price that does reflect the state of the Silicon Valley but probably a little too much in my opinion for the dinner experience
A bit loud but excellent on everything else so easily forgiven!
