The Peking duck is fantastic. Go try it. You need to preorder a few hours before your arrival.
Would only recommend if you LOVE GARLIC, which I do not. The food came out quickly and was nice and hot.
The back room isn't as pleasant as the other areas, there was no soap in the ladies room (they had been adding water to the dispenser but it was definitely empty of anything when I went to use it- yuck & disgusting.
Unique and inventive, though a couple dishes we tried just did not work for us. Worth a try though!
Great authentic Chinese BBQ restaurant, so many choices on the menu and they are all pretty good
My family and I were extremely disappointed with the quality of the food at Wu Er. The meats were of very low quality, to the point where we kept finding bones in every bite. We ordered skewers and a basic chicken and rice dish. I wish I could get my money back because I tragically did not enjoy one bite.
Yuck! We ordered the skewers (chicken, spicy rib, beef, mushroom and cauliflower) and all were insanely over cooked. The beef I could barely eat because it was so tough. They also over seasoned the chicken so much I had to take a paper towel to it. Overall, the food was about a 3/10. Would not go back.
Some of the barbecue skewers were cold - felt like they were quickly heated up versions of yesterdays leftovers.
Nice Chinese barbecue food. The skewers are fantastic. The mapo tofu is excellent. The eggplant is wonderful.
This place is a great reason to come to Brookline Village. Ambience is exceptional and so is the food. Order the Lobster for two. It was fabulous!
It was good for hanging out with friends. The place was pretty big and they do have a bar so you can enjoy watching sports game as well.
Food was excellent. Unfortunately server spoke none/very little English. We asked for chilie oil and mayonaisse and were told not available. Not because they were not but because the server did not understand despite showing pictures from google. I suggest have someone who speak mandarin with you or just order straight forward from menu withoutvariation/modification.
Great food , great place to have a drink or 2
Long time for wait and no place for sit during the wait, the food is ok.
Four of the group of six I was with felt ill after eating here and we all had different things. Love the hipster ambience. Food and service left much to be desired.
We noticed the restaurant's signage is very low key and may need more visibility in their location.
Lots of small plates, good for sampling lots of flavors. Food was authentic and delicious. Our server was either new or just a bad waiter. Hopefully, for his sake, it was the former. We didn't receive an entree we ordered, asked twice for our drinks before they were served, and waited for our check for 15 minutes as he walked past us multiple times. I'd still go back for the food though.
They served really bad crabfish without concerning the refund.
Service: One word...terrible. I made a reservation for a party of 3 for 7:45. We arrived 5 minutes late mostly due to the fact that this place was hard to find at night. The sign is not lit up and we ended up walking past the restaurant. When we entered... we got ignored because they were so busy due to lack of staffs and no one to clean the table.
Food: I ordered Beijing duck ahead of time and the dish was place when we were seated for 2 minutes. The duck was cold. We ordered other dishes but they take forever and eventually we have to cancel our order. We have some skewers but their seasoning is just too much that we don't know what we are eating. The dishes were served in the wrong order, cold appetizer served after most of the main dishes served already and nearly finish eating. We ordered Grilled Lobster but never served. Due to the long wait and mistake, they gave us 10% off.
Never coming back again. I wish I can give no star.
1. not welcoming at the beginning 2. Waitress Cici made plenty of mistakes on our orders due to her language barrier 3. Took three tries and 20 mins for the manager to charge the correct amount on my card. 4. Food was okay. If you don't speak Mandarin, don't come here because they will make mistakes on your order as well as your bill multiple times. I will not be coming back.
I'll never go back to Wu Er. I spit a lot of food into my napkin. Ribs overcooked, tasteless, and dry. Tangerine chicken mostly fried breading with dry little pieces of meat inside. One pleasant tasting item was cauliflower on a skewer, which was two small florets dusted with cumin. We were so hungry we ate the greasy crab rangoon but it was not so good. Nice design inside with fun artwork, but lighting up too high for ambience, music (top 40) too loud. There was barely anyone eating there on a Saturday night at 8:00. Server was not knowledgeable about the menu though friendly. We had to ask several times for our drinks.
Unique food options. Loved the choices and plenty options. We got fish tofu and chicken heart on skewers as well as a spicy lamb/vegetable dish
New menu. No longer serve ribs. The small plates are good.
this used to be a great restaurant but they changed the menu and took out all the favorites. Even the waiters were complaining that all the good stuff is gone now because they have a new chef.
Had a voucher for 4 free handmade pork & veggie dumplings to celebrate Chinese New Year. Dumplings were huge & tasty, but cold (kitchen had a gas problem for 20min after opening). Strongly recommend the yan su ji (Taiwanese basil popcorn chicken) appetizer -- perfectly crispy and a nicely-sized app for two or a very filling snack for one. Comfy bar seating.
Unfortunately terrible experience. Food was good. Staff unable to get their act together. Timing was atrocious. 2 In our party finished their meals before the others even got theirs. Staff tried to be helpful, offered free desserts (declined) and even brought us unsolicited pork skewers ( we don't eat pork, no one asked). My wife had to get up a couple of times to find a waiter to ask about the food. One late dish came barely warm, seemed like was sitting ignored . Noisy; in large empty room we were seated next to a large loud group. Waiter took my father's coat to hang up, then when we were leaving no other staff could figure out where it went, we had to wait till that waiter appeared again. Staff was nice but just seemed inexperienced and completely lacking control over the place. Food was good but would not make me put up with the rest, will not be going back. Seemed like an interesting place and we wanted to try something new but a real failure. Hope they can get it together in time.
Lovely wait staff
Warm and friendly atmosphere
Good tasty food
Great food. Love the skewers. Definitely get something from each part of the menu. Great staff! This was my 3rd visit, and each time was great.
This was the most chaotic meal. It was a birthday party for 6 that turned very wrong. My son had had 2 great experiences before; So we were expecting great food. When they got it right was incredible but food came out wrong, they ran out of rice and noodles and the spice level was so wrong. In the end, it took them 3 hours, eventually we got most of the food and they did give my son a $50 gift certificate.
Food was mediocre and ambiance negligible
Great service and experience! Staff was very attentive!
Highly recommended. Excellent skewers of vegetables, perfectly grilled. Cumin complemented all. Liang Pi noodles and ribs were spicy and tasty. Chili crab bowl and sides were a lot of work to eat but worth it. We can't speak to the Americanized food, we stuck with the Chinese. Beware Brookline parking meters not free till after 8:00!
Great food and our server was OUTSTANDING ! He was attentive, charming and helpful!
This was the first time to Wu Er and we were pleasantly surprised (don't mind the tiny sign outside that might cause you to miss the place at night). The place was bustling and yet my wife and I had our own little private booth that made it quite comfy. My wife is Chinese so we were a bit adventurous with the food. The lamb kidney was fantastic and the crab special was also quite delicious. The only issue was that the food was all a bit too salty - hopefully they will adjust in the future. The waiter was friendly, and attentive, and clearly they learned much from their sister location. We are looking forward to returning to try the Peking Duck (note: call a day in advance) and bring the kids too. We think they will like all those little skewers.
Chose to order from the tapas/skewers portion of the menu and all were good to very good. Cocktails were also well done. Our server (Chris) was exceptional -- knowledgable, pleasant and patient.
Good food and ambience, serves mainland chinese specialties.
Fantastic place! I've been a big fan of the WOW BBQ trucks but since they opened their brick n mortars, they've stopped the food trucks. Recently went here for the Dine Out Boston and it was unbelievable. The lamb lettuce wraps were my absolutely favorite. I will definitely be back soon with friends and great company. Our bartender and waiter (his name started with O) was incredible and I feel bad for forgetting his name. :( Definitely a fun, vibey place to go for a date or with a group of friends. The location itself is a bit out of the way, but still definitely doable.
Saw it listed as an option for Restaurant Week and the food was very fresh and good! Large portions... the restaurant week menu did feature items that are not on their main menu so we appreciated the creativity and the flavors! Will absolutely visit again!
Seating took time although only one table in use. Appetizer came soon then one meal appeared followed by soup. The other party never received her meal and we left without her having eaten anything but appetizer. Waiter was pleasant and apologetic but he had served my wife's meal to another table. No charge for my wife's order. Although the food was quite good, we would never return.
Perhaps we picked the wrong items and it was a first visit. The staff tried very hard to please but one diner found the food too fatty, another liked some of the selections . It may be worth another looksee with some research as to what to pick.
Never ever serve clams and oysters luke warm. A raw bar needs to know what it's doing. The skewers are generally bland. The lamb heart was the best dish and the crab cake was acceptable. But the room temperature shellfish was a total deal breaker.
