Wren Bistro & Bar
We had a lovely evening out for our wedding anniversary.
Highly recommend Wren!
We had heard great things and had high hopes But it seems to me they are using the “because of everything that’s going on” excuse too much We’ve dined at other places that had already substantially restored a typical meal event
First we were only given an option to sit in the bar area Not being familiar with the restaurant we thought that’s all that was available However there is another area with more traditional seating The bar area was loud with bar patron conversations plus a gathering place for the staff to talk about working conditions
Second - asked for a Pinot noir Sorry Because of all that is going on we don’t have it
No bread before the meal? Sorry because....
Three tiny packets of pepper for the pasta? Sorry because....
The salad arrived with the meal- artfully arranged in a small container This clearly was just their style but how does one eat that? Well most people pour out the salad into the bread plate Which works when there is no bread
And the food while plentifully portioned was just okay
Overall a very disappointing evening out
We are not from Beaufort but visit often, there was no question we were going to visit Wren Bistro this time, because our last visit was great food great atmosophere, Great service. It was nice to see they are surviving the pandemic. The staff continues to be attentive and friendly. Food was again excellent. Seating was changed of course due to pandemic rules, staff wore masks, but this did not affect our overall good time. I think they are grateful to be open, and continuing to do a great job. Menu was smaller,
Wine list shorter, but still a wonderful bistro. You will add this one your repeat place to eat.
Friendly staff! They provided recommendations and were very attentive.
Great burger night!
Very good food and excellent service. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
We had heard good things but it was ok
The drinks were not prepared very well. The taste was not there for a cucumber drink. The salad I got was good with the shrimp but my husband got the burger was huge. Very tasty but overpriced.
Excellent quiet atmosphere. Tiffany was an excellent server gave a great suggestion and paired with a recommened white wine. All in all a quiet and relaxing meal.
Chicken salad plate is outstanding! Delicious mango peach tea. Lunchtime was not overly busy, and with tables separated it was great for table conversation. Waitperson attentive enough; offered more tea and took empty plates.
Waitress was great! Garlic shrimp app was delish. Main entrees not great. Certain things not available on the menu, no prosecco...... Definitely like the ambience.
The food was delicious! We ordered the Hummus app, Steak and Frites and the Crispy Flounder. The flounder was one of the best seafood dishes we've ever eaten!
First chance to enjoy Wren Bistro, not disappointed. From the hostess to the service, very relaxed, accommodating atmosphere. The food was outstanding, our waiter's personality added to our experience. We will definitely be back.
Visited Wren for the first time this weekend and was happily surprised. My wife had the crab cake and I had the steak and both were exceptional. We started with the garlic shrimp which was fantastic! Service was quite good as well.
I will say that the Wren Bistro is on our must stop list anytime we go to Beaufort. This trip was no different. I booked the reservation at least a week in advance for July 24th. We were not sure what to expect with Covid-19. We arrived early about 5:30pm and found a near empty restaurant. After removing the tray of silverware from the top of our table our maitre ‘d sat us in a back corner of the restaurant near the kitchen entrance. It was odd that our table did not have the usual candle or table cloth. Our waiter Andrew was great. The food was excellent. I had the crispy flounder that was prepared and seasoned perfectly. Although I was disappointed with our table location the Wren will continue to be one of our favorite places to eat in Beaufort.
Great place. Not loud, perfect service and amazing seafood pasta!
Wren was recommended to us by Janet, on her historic Beaufort walking tour. Fabulous experience from checking to leaving
. Staff was extremely friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. Everyone adhered to ordinance requirements for Covid virus. Food was delicious and other guests were very friendly and helpful to us as tourists. Would definitely recommend Wren.
First time dining here....have a second home on HHI and have been to Jane many times, so with Jane being a sister restaurant, we were not disappointed! The salads are delicious and the burger night price of $10 was a winner with my dad. Our server (I cannot remember her name) was very good. I got the shrimp and grits and asked for no onion on it, but it DID arrive with the onion...just picked it out, but really the only disappointment.
Great downtown location. Service was excellent.
Manager was sooo rude... rather than quietly asking ppl to please keep their masks on until they got to their tables she would yell it across the bar in front of all customers. She was so unprofessional! And the wait staff (including the manager) were eating off each other’s plates at the bar and licking there fingers in front of customers while customers were trying to enjoy dinner.
Very rude staff and terrible food
It really is the protocol during pandemic...we ate there a week ago and would have rated all a 5, however this time, glasses were refilled rather than a new glass being brought to us, the table we were at was against a wall, a bit stuffy when we are to be in an airy spot, and when the pandemic is over, will return, however, for now, not our choice. Recommend to a friend with caution, but if over that, delicious and friendly place to be.
Slow and detached bar staff, out of ingredients for cocktail, no silverware on table = wait to eat food, wait staff overworked
Our server, Liz was excellent in taking our order and checking on us periodically. My chicken salad (best in SC) was delicious. I'll will be back again to enjoy the WREN.
Unfortunately there was a party of 14 there and only 2 cooks so kitchen was backed up. Our server was attentive and kept us informed. Hopefully next time will be better.
Great staff, very accommodating, and blessed with a wonderful waitress, Grace!
Food was delicious...pecan crusted chicken and the meatloaf.
Drove over to Beaufort with friends from HHI and decided to try Wren. The only regret is that we haven't been sooner! The decor, ambiance, quality of food and service were all 5 stars. Worth the drive!!!
We're so glad that Wren is nearby - a great place to meet friends, or have a "just us" meal. My current favorites are the shrimp and grits, and the pecan chicken.
Great food, service and attention to detail. Because we were conducting an interview, I had asked for a quiet table when I made the reservation, weeks in advance. They made note and accommodated us. Food and service were excellent. Couldn't ask for a better place for lunch.
Went early. Had a great time. Food and service was really good. Shrimp and grits were delicious. Shared everything since the portions are generous and we’re old. The beet salad was outstanding.
Mixed bag. Fried green tomatoes were great. They were out of grits so served the “shrimp and grits” over a fried grit cake. May have been passable but the sauce was extremely runny like it had been watered down to stretch what they had left. Sent it back and got a fairly bland plate of salmon with sides. The hamburger was over cooked and under “dressed” for a 12 oz. patty..... one small thin slice of tomato, a few slivers of onion and ketchup served in a small paper cup . Unlikely we will return.
The food and service were excellent!!! We will definitely be returning soon!
We have never been disappointed here. The fish and grits are both top notch. The menu is creative and interesting. The service is top notch. Tonight we stopped in without reservations - 6:30 on a Friday night. They were able to seat us immediately at a high top in bar area. Service was still faultless and the experience was still great. That’s why we return time after time.
Service was really off! Crammed in the corner table for two! (I hate that!)
We will give it another try someday.
We had the seafood bisque and steak. Both were wonderful, steak was expertly seasoned. Delish! One of our new favorite dinner places.
Energetically served and pretty food but just really not very good. Fish fry fell apart on arrival, crab cake had only a little crab, dirty rice bland. Shrimp and grits an improvement.
Mahi was outstanding!!
Wren is my favorite restaurant for lunch. However , on Saturday, they did not have enough wait staff, and service was slow. Food was still delicious
Wonderful hostess and wait staff,,,the food is superb! This is our favorite place to eat in Beaufort.
Our lunch order was a burger and a Reubin Sandwich. Both were below average. The Reubin was made with chunky corned beef that fell out onto the plate. Sour Kraut was all lumped on one side and could not be respread because the meat kept falling out. And the hassled waitress would ask if we needed anything and begin walking away as we answered.
Very casual elegance, our service was very good, the food was very good and came out in a timely manner. They were out of several items we wanted to order however what we had was excellent! We would definitely go back again!
