Wren Bistro & Bar
My family and I were really looking forward to dinner because of Wren’s good reviews but it was definitely disappointing. They were literally “out” of 3 of the 5 things we tried to order. Service was good but the food they did have was just “okay” and definitely not worth the price.
My wife and I love the food at Wren and have dinner there once a month. However, service is less than stellar. Management should definitely look at their staffing. I waited 10 minutes for my 1st drink and gave up waiting for the 2nd - walked straight to the bar. It’s unfortunate that this is something we’ve come to expect.
We had lunch with friends there during the week and it was so good, we went back for dinner on Friday night. Dinner was also delicious. We will be back again soon.
Whenever we come to Beaufort, Wren is a “must do”. We love their hamburgers for a late afternoon meal.
The Wren is our "go to" restaurant for lunch in Beaufort. The food and service are always terrific. We have tried a variety of items on the lunch menu and have never been disappointed. Some of our favorites other than the Burger is the Butcher's Sandwich, Southern Tier (fried green tomatoes bacon, cheese, etc), and the Uptown Grilled Cheese. Each of these will cause you to smack your lips after your first bite.
Booked a table and we were seated promptly. The meatloaf plate was best I've ever had. Beautifully prepared and accompanied by carrots, mashed potatoes, crispy onions and wrapped in bacon! All hot and delicious.
Really delicious restaurant with cool interior design. The salads were plentiful with very fresh greens and the sandwiches are huge. The fried green tomatoes were a great share for 4 people served on top of delicious cheese grits and topped with yummy sauces and garnish. The services was good and fast. Second time I was there and can't wait to go back for another lunch.
Loved it. Will go back soon. Service and food was terrific.
Excellent food and great service. My wife had the shrimp and grits which really enjoyed. I tried the the special, candied snapper with risotto and spinach. The fish was cooked perfectly.
Service was poor... appetizers great... main course took forever and was cold when finally served
Food and cocktail quality declining, which is a shame because they’ve historically been one of the freshest and tastiest local options. Feels as if you have to be an insider to warrant friendliness from the staff; not that anyone was rude, but just sort of “eh”. Attention to detail in presentation is gone. Menu is always the same and lacks imagination. No GF options. Used to be my fav but beginning to enjoy other local spots more.
Fried green tomatoes, usually my favorite, were heavy, tasteless, and the grits underneath added nothing to the dish. It is billed as an appetizer and it was huge. We couldn't, and didn't want to, fiinish it all. We got the Mushroom flatbread which was slighly melted cheese with mushrooms on a pita. We were full after the apps. When we realized the large portion size, we changed our order to one entree to split. The shrimp pasta was good.
Everything about Wren made this a very enjoyable evening with friends
We went for lunch on a Saturday around 1130. Bartender was also the server, she was very nice. Food was good. DH had fish and chips, there was a LOT of breading on the fish but he liked the fish itself. I had a roast beef sandwich which tasted great. Presentation was nice. We both got fries, and they were plentiful.
There were 2 other parties in the whole place, and we placed our orders almost immediately. It took maybe 30-40 minutes for the food to arrive. That's the reason for one star off. If they had been super busy or we ordered something special, we would have been more understanding about the long prep time.
I went to Wren with friends after the Beaufort Film Festival. First, great wines at really reasonable prices. Not your average bar wine list. I wasn't very hungry so I had the Mushroom Flatbread with goat cheese and arugula. It was delish and plenty of food for a lite dinner. One of my friends had the Crispy Fish and really loved it. One friend gave me a taste of the seafood bisque which was among the best I have ever had. Next time I'm ordering that. Great food that is interesting without being needlessly fussy.
This meal was fabulous, made only better by our server and the rest of the staff.
Paula the wonder food guide, PEI mussels incredible, pasta perfection, decaf coffee hot!
Great waiter and the choice of entrees was excellent. Outstanding Pork Chop entree! A wonderful evening in a friendly environment
Like too many restaurants, the portions are too big. Would like to see more small plates options. Mussels were very good.
Our new favorite local restaurant!!!! Great food !!! Great service!!!
The food took a little while but the food was outstanding and server was wonderful! Loved it!
Food is always delicious.
the food was awesome, drinks great, the only problem was we sat there for about 15 mins before we sere even acknowledged by the waitstaff, once we were she was great.
Everything was perfect. Food was delicious. Server was friendly and attentive. Location was beautiful. My only recommendation would be a vegan option on the menu or the option to add tofu as a protein to items already on the menu.
We were in town and decided to have lunch here again. The food has always been great and it lived up to past experiences. My husband had the shellfish bisque to start and said it was delicious. He had the chicken salad sandwich for his main course and absolutely loved it! He rated it as the best he has ever had, which is a very high bar. I had the Southwestern Salad. It was fantastic! I’ve had it before and it was just good as I remembered. The service was good, with a friendly waitress who was happy to check with the chef regarding my food allergy. The decor and vibe at the Bistro is edgy, hip, and fun. We highly recommend this restaurant!
The fried green tomatoes were some of the best I've had and I even liked the cheesy grits, which I have never like grits in my life. The Mahi and Shrimp was great and my husband enjoyed the Sam's Pasta. The shellfish bisque was amazing!
They were out of a lot of good at 7:15 on a Saturday. Didn’t get to try what I came for.
Very poor service. Staff looked like the were overwhelmed.
Wonderful dinner as usual at Wren! Good food, good eervice, the only one little thing is that it was Saturday night at 6:15 when we went and they were out of a few things that it didn't seem like they should be out of at the start of an evening on a weekend. No matter - we rearranged our choices and were all happy in the end.
As always, Wren provides a varied menu of interesting, wonderfully prepared dishes that never disappoint... service is attentive and amicable.... perhaps a bit of color in the dining area would be in order to compliment the scene. Oh, and black napkins please! ;-)
Fabulous as always! Wren has the best shrimp & grits!
Very busy restaurant and initial service was a bit slow. But the service improved and the meal was excellent.
Drinks were great small plates were great!
As always, ambience and service were great - not rushed as we dined with friends.
Took my wife for her 60th b-day. Outstanding all around experience
We had a very nice dinner and our servers were outstanding! Will happily return! Would highly recommend!
The Chef Lorenzo was superb!! Even came out to meet us!
Definitely Will go back when in Beaufort
Excellent food and good service.
Had a very enjoyable meal on New Year's Eve. The atmosphere is good and casual. Would recommend it.
