We had a wonderful evening at Workshop...service was great as was the food! We ate on the patio on a lovely evening...would definitely return!!
An overall disappointing experience at Workshop last night. All five in our party (previously fans of the restaurant) don’t plan to return here on future visits to Palm Springs. Our issues:
1)We made reservations two months ago specifically asking not to be seated at the communal table. We were seated there anyway despite our objections and showing the host the original request.
2)The poor quality of appetizers and entrees. The cooking was very sloppy (soggy, undercooked fries) and questionable technique (pickled/sous vide chicken breast). Not sure how you recover from that except just better cooks and oversight.
3)The service was slow. After being seated we weren’t greeted or given water for 10 minutes. The waitress thanked us for being patient but blamed this on “things being really busy.” The point of reservations is to assist restaurants with resource planning, so again this points to poor management.
Great cocktails, great service, cool vibe, excellent food in vibrant Palm Springs. We were a little chilly because the door kept opening and closing to serve the patio tables. Without asking, they brought soft blankets to keep us warm!
Service was okay. The food to price ratio is off. We spent a lot of money and we didn’t get that much food. A few items were just okay including the pizza. It was tiny!!! The desserts were good.
Wouldn’t go back based on price and food ratio.
Everything we had was best described as bland. Scallops with grits and spinach had no seasonings. Burger ordered medium came rare and, again, very little in the way of seasonings.
The food was good. However, we arrived about 1/2 early and were steered to a bar about 2 doors down with the promise to text us AND come get us when a table was ready. About 5 minutes after our reservation time, we returned on our own to see about 5-6 empty tables. They obviously forgot about us and had no intention of returning. After that the service was very slow; they didn't fill water unless you flagged down a waiter and took about an hour until we got any food. The food was good and interesting once we got it. This restaurant came recommended so maybe it was off-night.
One of my favorite places in Palm Springs. Amazing architecture, food and service. Have never sat on the patio but that's a cool option as well.
Interesting concept. The food was good. Space is a little noisy. Seated at a large communal table which was fine, except it made it difficult to communicate with our server. Had a real Miami/SoBe feel. Was...... fine.
Disappointed in food, how long it took to get our food, and the whole communal table thing.
This was our first visit. The space is fairly spread out, with outdoor seating and indoor as well, with a large communal table in the middle of the latter, surrounded by booths on the edges. It was cool that night and we were happy to sit in a booth. Be aware that the communal table has stools with no backs if that is a concern for you. That aside, the service was prompt and we shared a variety of small plates, cocktails, and a bottle of wine. We found it all to be wonderful and enjoyed the evening. This is Palm Springs, so be prepared to pay Palm Springs prices for a nice restaurant. Overall, we'd recommend this place and would visit again if in town, more so to enjoy the outdoors on a nice evening.
Another fabulous evening at Workshop. We've been coming since it opened and it has never disappointed. It is our go to establishment to celebrate when the kids, family, or friends are in town, when we want a cocktail and bite at the bar and anything in between.
Excellent!!!! Food was amazing especially all the appetizers. Order a Palm Springer cocktail. Not on the menu but so delicious. We were celebrating two birthdays and had a great night!!
the roasted veggie entrée was way over priced for the small portion of vegetables presented in crescent moon shape on the large dinner plate...looked very sparse and not all that creative...disappointed. Rest of the meals (three others) were outstanding!
The appetizers shined,
Likely Palm Springs finest restaurant. TY
Lovely evening with excellent food and service. Highlights were scallops and flourless chocolate cake - superb!
Arriving for reservation at 5.45 there were many open tables available when we arrived and when we left but told they were reserved and all groups of 2 relegated to communal table with backless chairs.
Very energetic and a young crowd for PS, we really enjoyed it. We had our best meal of the week, although it is pricey. The $25 corkage is very fair and we brought along a nice bottle. Service we outstanding and Workshop has a great vibe.
Lovely great service wine fantastic great dining
I'd recommend an outdoor seating, the community table, but not the booth. there's a concrete divider underneath the booth table that it's very uncomfortable to be seated in there and try to cross one's legs. the seating space is narrow with the hard surface on the back (again in the booth still), that we really couldn't enjoy our food while seated in that space.
Very small portions for the price
I wouldn't recommend Workshop Kitchen based on it's limited menu choices, ridiculous pricing for incredibly small portions, ambiance was nice but nothing special and honestly the food I ordered wasn't that great. We sat at a community table, which was fine but the seating was on stools with no back support, which was not comfortable. Definitely overrated.
This restaurant is hip and fun with great food and excellent service. I sat outside as the option was at a shared table and I was with my wife and wanted alone time. The chairs were cheap and outside is a corridor. They pull it off though as hip but if you prefer elegant this might not be your place. I had the hanger steak and it was incredible. Enjoy!!
Food was bad and overpriced
We were sadly disappointed. Start with the good-
Atmosphere is super cool.
Craft cocktails were excellent.
Scallops were fresh and good.
Now for the not so good-
Willing to pay the $28 for a burger in hopes of something special. Was not.. Ordered med rare was cold in the middle.. Bun rather dry.
Pork chop, good flavor but ordered med rare, it was well.
Service lacking. When waiter was told over cooked and other under cooked he just said "oh"...
We are happy to pay big prices for excellent food and service but was not the case..
I would prob give it another chance however the other 4 with us said NO!
We were seated 15 minutes late. Food was delicious, but very expensive! Cool ambiance, but incredibly noisy.
Current fabulous food from a creative chef. Excellent service and the best looking restaurant in Palm Springs, amazing space!
Fun and hip!! Super decor. Pricey food but expected
I’ve been to Workshop several times. This time the food was as good as always but the portions were very small...disappointing.
This has been one of our favourite spots to celebrate special occasions and birthdays. We usually sit inside and in the past have had a stellar experience.....not this last time. Do your self a favour and do not order the Market Vegetable entree for $34. I wish I had taken a photo. There were perhaps 8 pieces of food (carrots, squash). Certainly no value for the cost with this dish. I also know that mistakes do happen, but our server then poured the wrong the wine in a glass. ½ of us were drinking a Pinot and the other ½ a Rose. He poured the Rose into the Pinot. He brought a fresh glass of Pinot for our friend but then did nothing for those of us who would have liked to finish the Rose.
On average we spend over $100/person and sadly we won't be back.
We had an excellent dinner outside between 2 heat lamps which made it very cosy. Food was outstanding, service excellent. Loved every minute of our evening and would definitely go back next time I am in Palm Springs.
It was a lovely experience and very trendy. Would have loved a seat with a back and slightly better food for the price.
Food was great. Service was good. Atmosphere is stark and cold inside. Location is a little odd at night if you're staying in downtown Palm Springs and trying to enjoy walking to things. We walked there from the The Rowan/Kimpton and Uber'd back.
Inventive and excellent service!
We had an incredibly delicious brunch - interesting menu, creative food, well presented and worth the price. We had a table in the courtyard, which was lovely. We highly recommend.
Had a 7:30 reservation for 4 and arrived at 7:25 - we were advised that there would be a short wait while our table was prepared & we were directed to the bar to wait - 20 minutes later, we asked for an update and were told that the people occupying the table reserved for us had paid their bill but were still chatting - we were advised that the restaurant “hoped” to have us seated “soon” - 5 minutes later, the manager sought us out and apologized for the delay (which we appreciated) and offered us two complimentary small plates which were to be delivered to our table once we were seated - 10 minutes later, the people occupying the table reserved for us finally departed, the table was set up and we were finally seated - 35 minutes after our scheduled reservation - although we appreciated the complimentary small plates from the manager, a bottle of wine or a round of cocktails would have been a more appropriate gesture after an overly long wait
Best meal we had in Palm Springs while attending a meeting there for 4 nights.
Loved the whole scene, the attractive outside area, plenty of heaters, great service.
Would highly recommend the outdoor seating. Our reservation was for inside which was much too noisy.
They were happy to accommodate our preference.
Great food and great people and a lovely space! Quite high food prices though.
Great atmosphere attentive service.
