About Workshop Kitchen + Bar

Dedicated to food, drink, design, and community. Workshop is located in the heart of the Uptown Design District. Situated in the Class 1 Historic El Paseo building from 1926, Workshop’s industrial chic interior brings a contemporary James Beard award winning design to the historic space.

Our kitchen is based around seasonal products from local farms, so the menu changes often. Although "Americana" may best describe the style of our food, influences are many. Favorite techniques in the kitchen include our wood-fired pizza oven, wood-fired grill, and custom sous-vide station.

The bar serves a variety of cocktails from American classics to carefully crafted originals.

While the food was top notch and the ambiance inviting and exciting, the level of service was less than I would have hoped. I would describe it as “haughty.” Here’s an example or two. We were instructed upon arrival by the hostess to wait at the bar for our table and to make sure we paid our bar tab before moving to our table. When our table was ready, the hostess asked us, “You haven’t paid your tab yet?” What one would expect is that the restaurant staff would arrange for the bar bill to be transferred rather than encumbering the guest with a job. When seated, I asked for a wine to be suggested in the $50-$75 range. The waiter replied that the “cheaper wines” weren’t as good. Enough said.

We took our two kids and wanted to have a hip, fun dinner. Ambiance is fantastic and service was good, (maybe even too attentive). Food was pretty good but very overpriced for what you get. Cocktails were great.

My favorite restaurant in the Coachella valley . Best pork chop ever . Fun original atmosphere. Definitely a restaurant for foodies . Chef trained in France and you can taste it . Fabulous authentic tarte Tatin. Love this place !

This was the worst dining experience I’ve had in years.

For $200 per person, I don’t think it’s unreasonable to have a certain expectation of personal attention and the highest quality of food and drinks. We’ve paid much less for far better service all across the country.

The food was horrible. Most of the food had a terrible odor to it. Could not think of a worse way to end a New Years vacation.

Overall, this was the worst dining experience we’ve had in years.

The service was non-existent. The “open bar” would have been nice if it didn’t take 30 minutes for each round of drinks. I even mentioned how bad the food was and the waiter chose to ignore my comment. (When we got our ticket, we saw they itemized the prefix menu and valued the Champagne toast at $40. The staff was chugging the Champagne before midnight, this was incredibly unprofessional.)

This establishment should be embarrassed by what they delivered.

My experience with the Palm Springs food scene is very limited but it seems the most interesting places are ones like Workshop which are smaller but really focused on being creative with their menus. Seating is tight but the cuisine is worth it.

Our second date here was just as lovely. The ambiance seems to always have a festive vibe so it was a perfect place for Xmas dinner. The new heating lamps worked really well and the flames put off a cozy glow. Service was generous and friendly. The food was delicious and many dietary accommodations were patiently made. Oh and my special request for a hot toddy was met and it was perfect. ❤️

Beautiful space, amazing service, and great cocktails. Food was a bit more inconsistent. Had to return a dish and it came back no better and the re-order wasn't placed at the front of the line so it took 30 minutes. Disappointing for sure from that perspective, felt like a big miss on a $38 dish. Highly recommend for a cocktail and small plate - bar is really cool. Skip for dinner though, there are better places in Palm Springs for that part of the evening.

I went to workshop with my husband for a special occasion. First off, the ambience is very sterile and industrial (in a good way!). Great modern setting and quite romantic at the same time. Both of us being from major food forward cities, the desert lacks in upscale and memorable restaurants in our opinion. The food was very good, not exceptional but very good. Some of the dishes we got (the roasted Brussel sprouts and the hanger steak) were both stand out dishes. Others were good but I probably wouldn’t be tempted to order again (the duck ). My husband had a big issue with the plating. Fast service is usually always a plus but the plates came out before you finished ordering. It felt a little pushy like they want you in, and want you out. Overall, we agreed we would visit again for sure. The honey crisp apple dessert was super delicious! Be prepared to pay the price tag here. Our bill was close to 300 with tip and we each only had ONE cocktail. I found a lot of reviews were about portion sizes and honestly, the portions were perfect. If you want an extra large bowl of pasta, You probably shouldn’t be making a reservation here in the first place.

The crafted cocktails at TnT before dinner set the tone for a perfect evening. Dinner at Workshop was amazing the Mussels were the best I’ve ever had. The braised pork cheek fries were excellent. The hanger steak, scallops and truffle roasted Collie flower we’re prepared perfectly. Along with the excellent service provided by Matt made for a great evening and experience . *

One of the best meals Ive ever had. The food is delicious. The service impeccable. And the ambiance is just right. Make sure you reserve a side table seating or else you’ll be sharing your meal with other diners in a very long table set in the middle of the room. Either way you’ll definitely enjoy your meal. Highly recommended
