Incredible flavors, views of the city, and service. American food served tapas style (small plates) allows your palate to enjoy a variety of foods that won’t disappoint. I especially liked the sturgeon and bone marrow!
Chef Don Young and his team have created an incredible menu and atmosphere— all culminating in the perfect evening. Wine pairings by their in-house sommelier Greg we’re perfectly paired with their food and my pallet in mind. We cannot wait for our next meal with the WoodWind family.
It was really good. I have no complaints, cannot wait to come back. Such a damn good deal.
Service was dreadful. Literally waited 20 minutes to get someone’s attention for the check. Tried multiple times to flag someone down, anyone. Ridiculous. Cotton candy doesn’t make up for that.
Just the perscription if you what unique, tasty, inventive food, great presention and awesome service with a killer view of Chicago skyline and the lake. The decor is very nice / acceptable for date night or casual business dinner.
Nice presentation, creative, small portions, expensive parking . Combination of fast food with Michelin star.
Amazing and the chef Donald is top shelf! Unbelievable and perfection!
Was a very good meal just after happy hour, so fairly quiet.
New restaurant...food was outstanding, service needs work
Bar order took over 20 minutes
Worth checking out - The food was inventive and wonderful and it is a great addition to the neighborhood. We were there on a Monday night so it was quiet and our party of four were able to talk and hear each other.
Very good restaurant week menu and value. Went twice.
Hidden gem in Streeterville! We live across the street from the restaurant and decided to check it out during Chicago restaurant week. Food, service and drinks were amazing! My husband got a gin martini, and I tried the Dies Irae (tequila drink with activated charcoal so it’s grey)! Definitely recommend if you like tequila drinks. We got a lot of different things, and everything was phenomenal. but the chicken chicharron, bloomin’ maitake, crab and saffron capellini, smoked lamb ribs, woodwind burger, and New York strip. I would recommend them all. Also loved that they bring you cotton candy with your check (the flavor changes everyday)—such a personal touch! We dine at a lot of nicer/more expensive restaurants in this city and this was one of my favorites. We will definitely be returning soon!
Like the small plates. Delicious food and nice ambiance
Located on the 18th floor of the Lavin building at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, we had a wonderful dinner whie visiting our mother recovering at the hospital. The restaurant is upscale, in very comfortable settings, with amazing city views. The cocktail menu is amazing, their bartender- talented too. The food we had was very good. Wine list is respectable. We shared a lot: the bloomin Maitake (mushroom), House Ricotta, Chicory Salad... all delish. The burger is ok, a bit small, so not sharable. Also, the raw oysers were tiny, but ok. The service by the staff was good. We will be back!
One of the best overall meals I've had in Chicago. Everything was delicious, the view was lovely, the service was fantastic, and the price was quite reasonable. None of the dishes was less than fantastic, but the ricotta made the most lasting impression. Will be back in a heartbeat.
I was there for the Restaurant Week menu. Our whole party was impressed by the food. Service was also very good. Noise level was very good early but got louder as the evening wore on. We’ll be back.
Dined here during restaurant week, and was able to share multiple items with friends to get a good sample of the menu. The ricotta appetizer was divine and all the dishes were creative. Our server Oscar was great! Cant wait to return when the patio is open!
I tried to go for restaurant week. They were out of the majority of the “ restaurant week portions” after we pushed back on why they couldn’t accommodate they offered to make one dish available. We opted to leave (which is never my style) but they were not trying to accommodate us and it seemed like a burden for them to make one item which wasn’t available into a smaller portion for restaurant week. If they cannot offer what is on the menu then it needs to be changed.
Everything was great... the ‘mains’ are a little small but everything was delicious. The noise level is very high, almost to hard to hear each other at a table for 4, that’s the only thing negative about what was otherwise a great place with very good food.
We enjoyed dining at WoodWind. This restaurant is a gem tucked into the Northwestern Hospital Campus. We had window seating with a nice city view. The menu is interesting. I enjoyed the salmon. The portions are modest yet everything we had was tasty. The service was exceptional. I would like to return to sit on the terrace in the summer!
Brandon was a great server and party all noted wonderful service provider and involvement of managers. Food was flavorful and unique.
Went for dinner with my wife during the Chicago Restaurant Week. Restaurant ambience was elegant, classy. They had some quite creative dishes on their Restaurant Week Prix Fixe Menu, but most dishes we tried were too salty. Service was acceptable and food came at a very reasonable pace.
An excellent new restaurant. The staff was wonderful, thoughtful and enjoyed talking about their work. The food was really good. I would definitely and return and recommend it.
We came here for Chicago Restaurant Week. The food was amazing and our waitress was great too.
The maitake mushroom was the best mushroom I’ve ever had. Absolutely phenomenal. Everything was delicious, though, and the service was attentive but not pushy. Great experience.
My second visit overall and first time trying dinner menu. Ambiance was more lively and very busy since it was a Friday evening and during Chicago Restaurant Week.
I liked how their CRW menu is same as their regular menu, maybe smaller in portion, but a great way to try out items they actually offer. Plus, desserts are complimentary so you get to choose 3 full items from the menu!
House ricotta is always good opener for a meal and oysters w/ garnish were very fresh. We tried one of the daily special - caesar salad and loved it. Our favorite was the bloomin maitake and crab & saffron capellini. Grilled maitake was meaty with smokiness, softness and crunchiness and just the right amount of sauce. The capellini was so rich in flavor with big chunks of crab meat.
They served complimentary cashew gelato and cotton candy (yes!), which is also served during lunch as well.
The servers were very prompt and friendly, and they remembered to accommodate dietary restrictions throughout the entire meal. I would definitely come back to this restaurant.
Service was terrible. The floor manager was everywhere, and despite seeing service team members anywhere, our lunchtime prix fixe for only three people took 75 minutes.
We went for an anniversary dinner. The food was fantastic. The setting is a little underwhelming.
Everything was delicious and the service was wonderful; thank you! The cocktails were also amazing!
It was fine. The food was tasty but we ended up feeling like an afterthought. We asked for our last dish to be wrapped up to go, it was taken away but the leftovers were never brought. Once that last dish was cleared we went 32 minutes without anyone talking to us. We sat there at a completely empty table watching everyone around us getting service. I know we got the RW menu and not the whole duck tacos the table next to us got so our bill wasn’t as big but seeing how they were treated next to us kind of felt like a slight. I’ve worked in fine dining for years and try to never leave negative reviews but this was too bad to not.
This is a wonderful restaurant tucked away on the 18th floor of Northwestern Hospital, Lavin Pavillion. Once the elevator doors open on the 18th floor, you forget that you are in a medical environment. Its an obscure location, but the atmosphere, cocktails, food and staff are 5 star. We were there for restaurant week so we took advantage of the restaurant week specials. I loved the green tea flambe cocktail. All the dishes were wonderful, but the bloomin’ maitake was our favorite. Our server Michelle was outstanding. I also appreciated the beverage director stopping by our table to talk with us about the cocktails. This is a great restaurant, not to be missed.
Food was ok but very slow service - did not have good pace to the 12 dishes we ordered. Duck was flavorful but almost completely raw.
Most of our choices were delicious. Some were lacking in flavor, one was far too small a portion.(sturgeon) The roast duck was outstanding!
Our only issue was too loud music that was inappropriate in such a lovely setting.
The menu options are good, lunch portions were adequate and the prix-fixed menu a true bargain. As an extra, I ordered the pots de crème after seeing it in a food critic's review. Unfortunately, I was quite disappointed when the server delivered the single portion, straight from the (ice)cold fridge, without the cloche and smoke. Perhaps it's only presented during dinner, but for $10.00 I was expecting the complete 'show.' We asked for the check which appeared but took over 10 minutes for our server to return to cash us out. I look forward to again trying WoodWind, perhaps when the patio is open.
Modern vibe, Great bar. Excellent service, delicious menu options.
Beautiful city view with a curated wine list and Greg a knowledgeable Sommelier!
The food was inventive & delicious and the service outstanding. The dining room is lovely with great views of the city and Lake Michigan. Nice to have a very affordable prix fixe menu option. What a gem!
Outstanding food, cocktails and wine list
Great views and ambience and the servers are so attentive! Food was lovely and I’ll definitely go back again.
Superior atmosphere and location, terrific food (more than reasonably priced), and wonderful service.
This was our second visit. We tried the duck this time and did not enjoy this entree as much as we had enjoyed the short ribs before. A worthy replacement and a nice addition to our neighborhood.
