Food was delicious but service was a tad awkward. A few brunch items were sold out when the restaurant opened. Dutch apple pancake is mediocre, at best. Cold apples on a hot pancake was odd. Great: Bloody Mary, Mac & Cheese, fries, mushrooms, kale salad, pancakes.

We had a good time. The hostess was very helpful and she was able to get the pastry chef to make a quick design for a 40th birthday for my friend's birthday. The server was pretty dry at first, but he warmed up to us as time went on.

Woodward Table is by far one of my favorite brunch spots. While the menu is more lunchy than brunch or breakfast. The food is always on point, service is amazing and always with a smile. It’s always very low key, i have never seen it be extremely busy. But in a way, i like it like that. I always start my meal with a latte and a biscuit with the seasonal jam. Regardless of anything else i choose to get. It’s a MUST.

So sad that this place was so terrible. From the moment walking in to the horrible hostess that would not even greet us, to the awful service, to the inconsistent drinks, and such mediocre food we will never go back. Not to mention that the service was so terrible and it was New Year's Eve!! Not a great way for guests to end the year.

First we had to send back their signature bread. We had been hearing about this for weeks and were so excited to taste homemade rolls going with butter and garlic. Not tonight. Dry, seemed reheated, the manager came and looked at them and said, no no no. Brought us a new batch that according to our guests was not up to par at all. We agreed.

The food was executed poorly. We ordered a lot -- fried chicken, foie gras, Brussel sprouts, Louie salad, Mac and cheese, Brussel sprouts, broccoli salad, pork wings and fried potatoes. All of it was bland except for the Brussel sprouts and Louie salad - but the Brussel sprouts were executed poorly, crispy on the edges and raw inside. The Mac and cheese was not baked so it was scooped into a bowl and then thrown under the broiler to heat cheese on top. The potatoes, just sad. Bland, unseasoned, how do you mess up potatoes? Brussel sprout salad? Out of balance, too sweet with too few Brussel sprouts.

On to the drinks. Many of the craft cocktails were just not tasty or good. We sent two back. The third that we were ok with we ordered 3 -- none of which was the same. Each time it was a new drink, less successful each time.

Service? No. We walked in to an awful hostess who never once greeted us. We were in a great mood because it was New Year's eve and she just barked at us and kind of started the evening off poorly. The waiter was unfriendly and frazzled even though the restaurant was nowhere near full. I can't imagine what it would be like if they were full. We had one fun, friendly thin waiter but only for a few interactions and got the frazzled upset one the rest of the time. Just bad.

Service and food were great. Only caveat is that we were seated at the bar area and it was too quiet; it felt isolated in a sense. Wish we were in main area to experience better ambiance to celebrate New Year’s eve while enjoying a nice dinner.

The greeter (Don) was outstanding. We were seated near kitchen which isn't ideal for a date or overall noise level. Overall the food and service were good not too many choices on the menu.

Woodward's menu was conservative and limited. I was surprised because as a former employee at Millennium Challenge Corporation (2009-2011) a half block away, we would have lunch or dinner for our special occasions at Woodward's. The food was very good, even the piazza were flavorful.
However December 26 was different. There were only 6 or seven entrees. I ordered wine by the glass, a Malbec. Perhaps the wine bottle was uncorked for awhile, because the wine was tasteless. My guest had fried chicken. I had grits and shrimp. The grits did not have enough cheddar cheese to even get a taste of cheese. The shrimp were 32 count/pound size and were slightly overcooked. The fried chicken portions were generous, a complete half chicken.

Frankly, I was surprised at the conservative depth of the menu as well as the blandness of the food. Even dessert, sweet potato creme brûlée severely lack flavor. You could not discern the taste of the sweet potato in the dessert.

The food here was mediocre. I certainly didn’t walk out saying WOW. We did enjoy the Parker house rolls. I had a double cut pork chop whic came with what looked like landscaping shrub on the plate it had no purpose. My wife ordered a salad before her entree and when it came it was the size of an entree. I was floored when the bill came. Very pricey for average food.

We came here for a pre-theatre meal at 5:30 and got drinks at the bar first while waiting for our reservation, as we were early. It was not busy at all, yet the bartenders were very inattentive and slow. When we were seated the slow service continued and we had to guide our waitress through telling us the specials. The food itself was fine; shrimp and grits were cooked perfectly, as well as the pork wing app. The fried chicken however was lacking in basic seasoning. Not a place we’d write home again or go out of our way for but there’s potential.

Very good meal - rockfish, at server’s recommendation, was very good. Not cheap. The only disappointing part of the experience was the check in/seating process. Despite reservations and many many unoccupied tables, it took at least 15 minutes to be seated, not sure why but luckily we had scheduled extra time for our lunch so we had a cushion.

The highlight was unfortunately not the food, which was not memorable at all, but 1) the two hosts who are very friendly, 2) the noise level (conversation was easy yet the place was packed) and 3) the ambiance was businesslike yet friendly. I thought the value was good. Because the restaurant is so close the White House, I would even recommend this to tourists.

Our server, I believe his name was Nate, was absolutely, unequivocally terrible. We observed the overall apathy he displayed with his customers; he would come by when summoned and only engaged minimally. He was rude, unkempt and does not deserve to work in a restaurant of this caliber.

The squash soup and the pork chops were both outstanding. One of the largest cocktails (rum & Coke) I have eve been served (and it was excellent). Tetiana provided superb, attentive service, and did not hurry us as our group took some time in deciding what to order. Very relaxing evening.

Bar was comfortable and moscow mule was well made. My friend didn't enjoy his whisky sour. The bare tables with plastic table mats was too casual for the menu. No real ambiance. The food was good. Steaks well prepared, excellent fried chicken, no fillers in the crab cakes. The bottom of the Parker rolls burnt - and don't charge me for bread. The smoked tuna was not to my liking. Didn't have dessert.

I reviewed the dinner menu on OpenTable and it looked great - flatbreads, burgers, Southern food, yum! When we showed up, the menu was completely different. I wondered if I had looked at the wrong menu, but I looked on Open Table again and the dinner menu they listed was totally different. I showed our waitress and she acknowledged that it was wrong and apologized. I asked if we could still get a flat bread, which I saw someone eating at the bar, and she said no, which I found surprising. They clearly had the ingredients, why not make an exception to make a disappointed customer happy? She was nice about it and the ambience and location were good, but the expectation created by the Open Table menu did not meet the reality. The dinner selection was more limited and expensive than we expected. However, the ambience was very good and most in our party enjoyed their meal. If you want a nice, pricier option close to the White House, this is still a good option, just make sure to check the Woodward Table website’s menu to get a (hopefully) accurate idea of the food and prices.

It was a business meal with seven of us. So-so wine and beer list but we enjoyed good appetizers and steak. Dessert is something you must have there...home made ice creams are excellent.

Several of our dishes were VERY cold (refrigerator cold) and had to be sent back. However, it was 8:30 on Thanksgiving night and we felt lucky to have found a restaurant still serving. Servers were very slow in bringing food back and checking up on us, but other than that it was a nice experience. Would go back on a non-holiday to see if it is better.
