We ate outside, under a tent. It began to rain so we felt badly for the waitstaff who got rained on but they were professional and made sure they stayed dry. Great food, great staff.
Thanks for the stellar review, Norman! We're glad to hear you enjoyed dining with us. Please come back and see us again when the weather is clear. We hope to see you again soon!
Just a beautiful setting and thoughtful and delicious dinner.
We're so glad to see you had such a good experience dining with us, Teri! We hope to see you again soon the next time you're in the area.
Absolutely lovely! Magical evening with incredible food and surroundings.
We're thrilled to see you had a magical evening with us, Catherine! We hope you'll come back soon for more delicious food and good times. Take care!
So sad to post this but it is not the lamberts cove of years past and we’ve been dining there for 4 summers. As friendly and apologetic as the management and service tried to be, it did not take away the disappointment in the slowness of the overall service and the poor quality of food. It took 3 hours for a party of four to dine with a price fix menu of 4 courses that offered 2-4 choices. The restaurant was not at capacity so by restaurant standards that is a crazy length of time. We were either waiting forever for our next course or waiting forever for the dishes to be cleared from the table. Some meals were just okay and some fell way short of “fine dining” food. I’m not going to rip apart the dishes because I’m sure the intention behind the creation was genuine, but I have to share that there was major inconsistency, in the same meal ordered, by two different people. Also, the quality was definitely missing in some of the ingredients in different dishes. I don’t know if they weren’t tasting the food before they serve or realized that chopping into a hard peach means it isn’t ripe and will not be sweet to the palate to serve. We left so bummed as this is our annual family dinner ritual when we visit each summer. With the beach plum inn restaurant gone for a few years and now this restaurants decline… the Vineyard is slowly losing it true local, fine dining, farm to table experience.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts and being a loyal patron at Woods. While we're glad to know you had pleasant, friendly interactions with our staff, we're sorry to hear other aspects of your experience fell short of expectations. Please accept our sincere apologies for any lapse in service you experienced while dining with us. We'll use your feedback to continue improving. We hope you'll come back to dine with us again. Our doors are always open to you!
Lovely place, excellent food, excellent service. A little noisy (turn down that piped in music!) and a little pricey but lovely dinner.
We're so glad you had such a great time dining with us, Sherry! Thank you for the tip about the music; your feedback has been noted. We hope you'll come back to us again soon for another lovely evening on Martha's Vineyard!
The ambiance was fantastic. It’s a stunning location with delicious food. 10/10
Thanks for the rave review, Katie! We'll pass these kudos along to our staff. We hope you'll come back soon!
One of the best places for romantic fine dining on the island. We loved our waitress Robin!
Thanks for the stellar review! We're so glad to hear you enjoyed your experience dining with us. We'll be sure to pass your kudos along to Robin. (We're proud to have her as part of our team!) We can't wait to see you again for more good food and great times. Take care!
The food was incredible and it’s a must to visit the alpacas they have on property.
We're so glad you enjoyed dining with us, Kelly. (& the adorable alpacas!) We hope to see you again soon.
Chaotic, inefficient service from start to finish. Inattention to details, like clean silverware after each course, taking the dinner order in a timely fashion, cushions on the chairs. For unknown reasons the kitchen was out of several items and the waitstaff made it clear they were almost out of others. The food was hit or miss. Tuna crudo was delicious. The heirloom tomato salad was marred by tasteless grocery store tomatoes and slightly sour burrata. The scallops, a main, were succulent but paired with cold quinoa and brocollini with a weird smokey flavor. The spare ribs, another main, were tender and tasty. The Panna Cotta was good, the cheese board another good choice. All portions were small, bordering on skimpy. On the plus side, the outdoor seating faces a beautiful garden, and during the endless waits conversations sprang up among previous strangers. Unfortunately, a price fixe expensive meal brings with it certain expectations for both service and food. The Woods failed to deliver on either
Thank you for sharing your experience, Connie. While we're glad to see you enjoyed the atmosphere and conversation in our beautiful outdoor garden, we're sorry other aspects of your experience didn't live up to expectations. Service and cleanliness are at the very top of our priorities at Woods, so while we can assure you that we usually maintain very high standards of both, we sincerely apologize if you experienced a lapse in either of these areas. We'll discuss this feedback internally.
The service was excellent and the ambiance beautiful. From there everything went downhill the food was very marginal. Improvement is needed.
We're glad to hear you enjoyed the ambiance and experienced pleasant interactions with our staff, but we're sorry your meal fell short. We'd love to know more details, so we can improve for your next visit. Don't hesitate to reach out! Our doors are always open to you.
Food was pretty bad.. we had been here 2 years ago and it was fantastic. The new chef hasn't quite found their feet yet. There were errors in what was plated and brought out. Main course (fish) was overcooked. Seating was cramped, and noise was a major negative factor given the serene setting. I wouldn't go again.
Thank you for sharing this feedback, Aaron. We're sorry to hear your experience fell short. Please know our menu does change throughout the year, and we're continuing to make improvements on all aspects of our service everyday. We hope you'll decide to join us again as we're sure we can win you back! Take care.
Every bite was amazing and we loved it from top to bottom.
We're so happy to hear this! Come back and see us again soon!
The food was adequate at best, which is unacceptable for $95/person prix fixe. Our dishes lacked half of the ingredients listed on the menu. And the service was slow and confused.
Thank you for sharing this feedback. Many guests rave about the food and atmosphere at Woods, so we're sorry to see that wasn't your experience. Please know our menu does change throughout the year, and we'd be happy to welcome you again anytime! Our doors are always open.
The service was horrible. We weren’t able to acquire cocktails while waiting. They only offer wine and beer.
While we're glad to see you enjoyed your meal and the ambiance at Woods, we're sorry to hear you weren't pleased with the service or drink selections. Please accept our apologies for any lapse in service you experienced and know our menu is constantly evolving and expanding. We hope you'll give us another chance the next time you're in the area. Until then, take care!
Excellent in all ways. The food was delicious and the service was very good! I would highly recommend Woods at Lambert's Cove Inn.
Thank you for the excellent review and spreading the word about Woods! We look forward to seeing you again. Take care!
Staffing issues made service very sporadic.
Food was excellent. 4 course prix fixe.
Choices were varied.
Nice wine list.
I have been waiting for years to dine here. While I understand the lack of staffing and food availability is an issue everywhere, common restaurant courtesy at a restaurant of this caliber should be a given. For example, you can’t start eating you four course pre fixe meal set at $95 pp without cutlery and.napkins. The fact that our waitress didn’t notice this but the girl delivering our plates did was a red flag. Two people in our party ordered scallops as their main course, received two scallops and very soggy vegetables. This is in stark contrast to a meal we had the night before in Oak Bluffs for half the price and double the portion at The Red Cat. A person we believe was the chef came out and asked us how our food was before we even received it. She was a more than shocked when she realized we hadn’t been served. Across the room, a party of about 10 or 12 had no problem receiving the attention of many servers as well as their food. Our chocolate cake dessert was compressed of two brownie sized nuggets on their side of a scoop of ice cream and drizzled with caramel. While the offered a 25% discount on our final bill, it was only after we had to complain about our disappointment in service. As a great restaurant should know, a guest should not have had to point out these problems- a good, attentive waitstaff and chef knows.
Food was good to excellent, main course - vegetarian option - was a bit bland and unexciting. First courses and desert/chees plate were spectacular. Lovely location, ate outside in the garden, service suffered a bit due to postpandemic labor shortage.
Thank you for the kind review! We're glad to see you enjoyed your experience dining with us. We've taken note of your constructive comments. We'll pass those along to the team, so we can continue to improve for your next visit. We can't wait to see you again! Take care.
Was it really necessary to tell a party of three with a 5:30 reservation that there is a strictly enforced 90 minute allotment?
The food was tasty (except the pasta-too corny, not enough mushroom) and the scallop main dish had only 3 small scallops!
The hostess was a bit confused and standoffish but clearly very young. We had thought we had booked inside so was surprised when seated outside .
When we asked could we wait for a table inside she was very short and said “No”
We asked her a few basic questions about the Inn while waiting
Are you open year round? How many tables inside etc.. she had no clue and left it with “ I don’t know.” Not a big deal but also not on par with the reputation of the Inn and the experience you get there.
food was exceptional- truly exceptional! Have already shared with others they need to experience the dining opportunity at Woods.
Service was good- Morgan was very nice- some of the other service providers seemed very new but we know it’s been a tough season for help on MV.
Overall great time last night and will be back( and will make sure to book inside ).
Thanks for allowing the feedback.
We went here two years ago and I recalled it was decent at the time. This go around we were unpleasantly surprised to see it was a $95 prix fixe only, which I generally don’t like being forced into. Especially with to 15 year olds in tow. Service was a tad slow, and the portions were ridiculously small. I finished my scallop entree in about four bites. $450 and 3 hours later and I’m already hungry. Not recommended!
Fresh, creative and beautifully balanced menu features some of the best food on Martha's Vineyard. The staff are attentive and the location is beautiful.
Beautiful setting with wonderful price fixe menu. Highly recommend for a relaxing and quiet night!
First time dining at Lambert's Cove since ownership changed a few years ago.
1) Ambiance - The elegance and grace of the previous owners is no longer there. Furnishings went from highly curated antiques, to frankly, nothing special.
2) Food - mixed bag. The crispy oysters were nice, but the salads were disappointing. I ordered something called a salad with fresh peaches, and it when it arrived, it looked like a mundane fruit salad in a bowl. The pasta dish was also served in a bowl much larger than the food, which made the food look meager and unattractive. The braised short ribs were OK - I make this dish and the key is to have a somewhat crispy outer layer and a soft tender inner layer. They were somewhat mushy. The potatoes that came with the dish were a sticky gluten paste. The chocolate cake was more like brownies than a cake, but I like brownies. The cheese plate had a lovely presentation, but again, the portions were skimpy. My friend ordered a pasta with mushrooms, and there was only one mushroom in the dish. I would advise the executive chef to spend more time on presentation of the food, and to focus on enhancing portions or at least avoiding presentations in big bowls that make the portions seem small. Overall, I don't think that big bowls do well for fine dining - suggest plates.
Service - overall pretty good. Could be slightly more intuitive, but not bad.
The restaurant only offers a fixed menu. It's 4 courses for $95. We knew this in advance so it wasn't a surprise for us. Each course was very good. However, the portions were a little too small. I enjoy smaller courses but I don't like leaving hungry. My husband's menu choices had portions that were a little larger and he was satisfied. We were seated in the bar. The seating isn't the most comfortable. Also there was a commotion going on beside us that detracted from our experience. Apparently a family wanted to pull tables together and that isn't allowed. The owner or manager did it but was angry about it and it made everyone uncomfortable.
Lovely setting and excellent food. Anticipated slow service but it was just right. A special treat.
It had rained. Sat us at a table with wet chairs did not bother to wipe. We found cushions at next table but they were wet too. we had no choice but sit outside since dining room was full. They should have called to let us know we had no inside option. Cold damp wet grass ruined shoes. If we had left would ruin our night even more to drive back and find someplace else to eat. Luckily we did not bring guests.
We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at Lambert’s Cove Inn last night. Great food, great service, and great room. We will definitely return for dinners with friends throughout the season on Martha’s Vineyard.
Excellent all around. The staff was able to make an accommodation for us to have outdoor seating which was perfect.
It is a really nice restaurant. Food was good and the room was nice. However it was not as good as comparably priced restaurants on the island. The wine list and bar is also really lacking. Went to Outermost Inn the previous night, same price point for prix fix, but was better.
Awesome food and service. Four course set menu was delicious from start to finish.
This was a top 5 of all time meal. I can not recommend it enough.
Delicious- every course was great and between the three of us we had everything on the menu. Pricey but worth it.
These are prix-fixe dinners, and for children that means $55 each (salad, chicken fingers, fries and a brownie for dessert). The drink selection for kids is limited.
The adult food was very good, but from the time we sat down, service was very slow; it took two hours before the kids got their food which is unacceptable when you have two kids under 6 years old. Luckily there are distractions for them to run to see like alpacas and chickens and a swing.
The waitstaff understood the delay issues and confusion among them (it could be post-pandemic shortages) and the manager kindly refunded all of our beverages.
Still, and expensive, long night. We would not come back for dinner with kids.
Rude hosts, inept wait staff, mediocre food.
Setting was tranquil and highly pleasant. Food was excellent!
Incredible food in a beautiful setting.
Each course was better than the next. Excellent dining experience! Definitely spend an evening at Lamberts Cove.
We've eaten here several times and the food is always very good. This time was no exception. Everything was amazing. Kudos to the chef. However, we did not feel it was a great idea to seat people outside for dinner in mid June. Even with the space heaters, it was too cold to be comfortable and we felt like we rushed to get out of there to avoid the cold. I would understand if this was mentioned or a choice when we made the reservation. I do not know what was going on in the inner dining room but everyone was told seating was outside. We felt it detracted from our experience which was unfortunate as the prix fixe menu while definitely value for money is not cheap. We will have to carefully consider if we would go back if it is outdoor seating again unless its much warmer than the ambient 60 degrees it was at 7pm in mid June.
Hello Kish, Thank You for your thoughtful review! We are certainly pleased that you enjoyed our carefully prepared menu by our culinary team. Unfortunately we are saddened to hear that the weather and seating arrangement distracted your experience. We are empowered by honoring the guests choice to sit where is most comfortable and we would like to personally invite you back for dinner to enjoy the ambience indoors of the enchanting Wood's Restaurant.
Beautiful and delicious outdoor dining on a nice June night. Our server Benita was charming and efficient, and Chris the chef delivered a fantastic meal. Highly recommended for that special occasion.
