Awesome experience as always! Tried the roasted cricket pizza and it was interesting but not our favorite. The bacon clothesline was amazing as was the tuna. Great experience overall!
Been here before and it was fine. It was so Smokey we had to leave.
Great food with an awesome waiter who took great care of a group of ladies lunching . The fries and pizzas were amazing as were the delish cocktails . We will be returning soon!
Everyone raved about the food and service. Nancy runs a great restaurant and it’s gets better every time!
Service was excellent. Was meeting a friend that I hadn’t seen in awhile. Really appreciated that we were not rushed and were allowed to take our time. Had a few specialty cocktails that were delicious. Shared a pizza that was perfect. Had the salmon which I ordered medium rare. Was a little more cooked than I like but it was delicious.
Went for restaurant week and will be back! Terrific experience. The entire menu was on RW with listed optional supplements for dishes that were over the RW threshold. This made for one of the best RW menus in the city.
For the record, the pork was extremely over-salted, but it was probably an off night because everything else was on point and the service and atmosphere made up for it!
Look forward to our next visit.
A really inventive menu. Because it was Restaurant Week, we were able to order a variety of things to share, and try a lot of different tastes. All were great. We'll definitely be coming back, and have already recommended Woodpecker to friends.
It was ok. Mediocre
I turned another business relationship onto Woodpecker & they really liked it. Not as much as I do!!
Food was excellent but service was very slow. Never refilled our waters had to get up and ask the hostess never asked if we wanted more drinks again had to pull someone over. then when we were ready to pay the servers had turned over and had a hard time getting someone to get check.
I was looking forward to my second visit and was disappointed. The service was not good. Our drinks were served with our entree...not even with the apps. The "famous" bacon was mostly burnt, but the edible parts were delicious. Entree's chosen were Branzino (very good), Pork Chop (bland) and burger (just OK). Dessert turned out to be the best part of our evening.
My sister and I when for restaurant week lunch. Food was very good , Service a little sketchy. I would go back I enjoyed it.
Everything was wonderful! It was my second time at the restaurant and I will keep going back so that I can keep tasting everything!
Food was very good but service was not up to par with food and price. Staff was cordial, but not fully attentive. Slow with water and drinks from the bar.
We did not realize it was restaurant week. The menu had a lot less than we expected it to have
Food and service were very good, and we will go back for sure. Noise level is very loud for evening dining. Not good for casual conversations
There was only one entree on the restaurant week menu that did not have a surcharge. I look forward to trying new restaurants during restaurant week that I would not normally splurge on and expected more from a David Burke establishment. After reviewing the menu and speaking with the server about our limited options my date and I left.
Ordered Margarita Pizza. Crust seemed steamed rather that baked.
Uncomfortable seating. Waiter not very mindful. Food was ok. Overall underwhelming. Really expected more from a David Burke restaurant
Great food and great service!
The food was amazing!! The service was equally as amazing!! The noise was just a little too loud for us! We had to lean over the table to talk to each other. I would go back BUT maybe during an afternoon when it might be less noisy...!?!
The cricket pizza was horrifying.
Well prepared, beautifully presented delicious food. Staff inattentive, from seating us, to getting check. But would certainly return.
The best service & chicken sandwich in the city!
Quite disapointed in a promising environment and well known chef's location. Don't go with experimental pizza or creations of the chef I would say. Recommended to be good, the roasted cricket was covered with the insects (and not sprinkled as described, with a pesto sauce, the combination was just awefull. The waitor couldn't careless, didn't even ask why or asked if I wanted to order something else. The gnochis werer floury, definitely not to the standrds of other similar places. It's too bad as I had good hopes but competition in the neighborhood is tough and when you charge such price, you'd better step up your game on all levels.
Food was nice. Fresh. Good cocktail list and attentive wait staff. Bar staff werent that prompt to serve when you were at the bar.
Arrived on a Saturday night at 9:30 and it was empty. We debated leaving but we had taken a taxi and we didn’t know what else was in the neighborhood. We’re glad we stayed.
Really excellent burgers, amazing bacon appetizer, and great service.
We just wish there was more of a people watching atmosphere.
Good place. Delicious! Branzino was excellent and so was the scallops with octopus.
So yummy and cute ! And the waitstaff was great. The tomatoes and mozzarella was great and so was the lobster calzone.
Great menu and everything was amazing!
Love the bacon appetizer - amazing! And the service was excellent - very attentive. Fun atmosphere - lots of energetic conversations around us. Pizza was a good choice!
We had a large group of out of town people for a conference in Times Square. We needed a restaurant mid town that could seat approximately 15 that wasn't a steakhouse that would break the bank. Woodpecker was the perfect choice. The food was great, the service was outstanding, the staff was flexible (when our numbers changed a bit and a few folks were running late) and the space was perfect. The restaurant got a bit loud so it was a bit challenging to hear across our table of 15 but i think that's to be expected and just added to the energy of the group. We even ordered the cricket pizza as a fun appetizer and it was great "ice breaker" to see who would and would not eat it. It was an awesome night that was far more economical and memorable then a boring steakhouse dinner.
Excellent service, great food.
It was okay
Food and service was excellent - noise level was intolerable.
I was curious about WOODPECKER because it was a DAVID BURKE restaurant with reasonable prices. I went for lunch w/a friend after attending a funeral of a mutual outstanding friend in the neighborhood, so we had much to talk about. I ordered the kale romaine Cesar salad with chicken and a wonderful drink called PHOENIX RISING. THE kale salad was good nothing outstanding, however the chicken as a choice topping was very good. The PHOENIX RISING WAS OUTSTANDING! Mixing vodka, turmeric, apple cider, ginger and club soda, made for a wonderful experience. My friend had the IMPOSSIBLE BURGER which I understand was also very good. The IMPOSSIBLE BURGER was accompanied with crispy roasted potatoes which I had a few, they were very good.
The wait staff was great. Very polite and accommodating.
I go to a lot of $$$ and lately $$ restaurants, mainly for dinner when I go to the theater. I have read and know about DAVID BURKE as a chef and restaurateur and never been to his eatery’s. I was glad to be able to try this affordable restaurant for lunch for a first try. I look forward to eating at his other restaurants in the City.
Good bar food. Service was a bit slow and our server had difficulty explaining what type of bread on which the chicken sandwich was served. Quiet at lunchtime but I expect would be noisy if crowded.
We are big fans of David Burke’s restaurants, but feel that Woodpecker fell short. The food was good and drinks okay. We’ve had better at some of his other restaurants The biggest issue was that our dinner was rushed and our server just okay We could have been at a fast food place Slow it down.
