Felt kinda touristy. Food was fine but nothing special. Was expecting more.
We came in for brunch while celebrating our anniversary in Manhattan. It turned out our reservation was right at opening.
Louis greeted us with a smile and the team, including Dylan, were spot on.
I had the chicken and waffles, the chicken was boneless and moist. My wife had the fritola and she very much enjoyed it.
Nice happy hour cocktails. Meh food, unless your thing is bland, under seasoned. Wine list could have more sub $100 bottles too.
Food was terrible. This place is probably on its way out
Food was rushed out way too fast. None of it was more than warm which bugs me to no end and while it was tasty, could barely get to my entree bc it felt shoved down my throat.
That compounded by a pretty unfriendly if not rude waiter just doesn’t compel me to ever go back or tell anyone to rush here.
We looked forward to going there as friends raves about it. Unfortunately it was a Sunday night and they only were serving their brunch menu.
Very loud and difficult to have a conversation.
Food was good and the service excellent
Will give it another try in the future
Chef Kevin does an amazing job, consistent and good flow of food. With DB’s flare for playful yet great tasting food woodpecker hit on all levels.
Good place though acoustics not great. Very loud
Best Pork Chop ever!!
Always friendly service & great food!
The restaurant was out of both wines we ordered, one red & then a white too
The moderately priced were unavailable & what was suggested was much more expensive.
My friend and I went to Woodpecker to take advantage of their new promotion game night all day happy hour. The bartender was very clueless about this new promotion but it was clarified by the GM which was awesome. Therefore my friend and I were hungry and ordered the entire bar food happy hour menu which cost $7 each. Each bar food item was a smaller portion of the regular size. Personal favorites were the burger and calamari. The fries were a hit and miss because some were crispy while others were not. The pizza was standard but I would definitively stick with the burger.
For dessert we tried the cinnamon panna cotta, which I hate to say was a disappointment. I have had panna cotta at various places and they had so much flavor. But this one in particular had no taste and the texture tasted like tofu pudding. I was hoping they had the apple tart because I now appreciate it so much more. I would personally return if I am in the neighborhood, hopefully for brunch.
We made a reservation for a large group at 8:00pm, and when we arrived (on time), the restaurant was pretty empty. It was clear to us that the staff was annoyed that we were keeping them there late. Even though we were basically the only people in the restaurant, they would not seat us until our entire party was there. Those of us who were there went to the bar to wait for the rest of our group, and were never served. When we did get seated, we requested to order some starters, and were told we had to wait to order everything all at once. We definitely received an abbreviated 'late night' menu because there were only about half of the items on our menu then were listed online that same day. No one was overly rude, but they did give us the impression that they were annoyed that we were there late. I wish that someone would have let us know at the time we made the reservation that the time we booked for was too late for the normal menu or to be not rushed out of the restaurant.
We ordered 3 different bottles of wine and they were out of ALL of them. Our waiter was not the greatest and the place is very loud. I would go back, but not for a good six months until all of the kinks are ironed out. For NYC they need to up their game.
The service was pretty good — attentive and friendly staff — but the food wasn’t good. I really disliked the gnocchi I got. Maybe was just an off night but still bad
Woodpecker is always my go-to for a solid place near Penn Station. Cocktails are excellent; bartenders are terrific. Food is solid all around. You can't go wrong with a pizza, burger, or beautiful piece of fish cooked perfectly. Flavors are on point. Fun, great price point, great location. Never disappointing.
Woodpecker is great for a quick meal, a gathering of friends, or fun meet-up at the bar.
Awesome experience as always! Tried the roasted cricket pizza and it was interesting but not our favorite. The bacon clothesline was amazing as was the tuna. Great experience overall!
The food was good but the service was very bad.... the rest was not packed and it was a Monday :( May go back and see....
Been here before and it was fine. It was so Smokey we had to leave.
Great food with an awesome waiter who took great care of a group of ladies lunching . The fries and pizzas were amazing as were the delish cocktails . We will be returning soon!
Everyone raved about the food and service. Nancy runs a great restaurant and it’s gets better every time!
Service was excellent. Was meeting a friend that I hadn’t seen in awhile. Really appreciated that we were not rushed and were allowed to take our time. Had a few specialty cocktails that were delicious. Shared a pizza that was perfect. Had the salmon which I ordered medium rare. Was a little more cooked than I like but it was delicious.
Went for restaurant week and will be back! Terrific experience. The entire menu was on RW with listed optional supplements for dishes that were over the RW threshold. This made for one of the best RW menus in the city.
For the record, the pork was extremely over-salted, but it was probably an off night because everything else was on point and the service and atmosphere made up for it!
Look forward to our next visit.
A really inventive menu. Because it was Restaurant Week, we were able to order a variety of things to share, and try a lot of different tastes. All were great. We'll definitely be coming back, and have already recommended Woodpecker to friends.
It was ok. Mediocre
I turned another business relationship onto Woodpecker & they really liked it. Not as much as I do!!
Food was excellent but service was very slow. Never refilled our waters had to get up and ask the hostess never asked if we wanted more drinks again had to pull someone over. then when we were ready to pay the servers had turned over and had a hard time getting someone to get check.
I was looking forward to my second visit and was disappointed. The service was not good. Our drinks were served with our entree...not even with the apps. The "famous" bacon was mostly burnt, but the edible parts were delicious. Entree's chosen were Branzino (very good), Pork Chop (bland) and burger (just OK). Dessert turned out to be the best part of our evening.
My sister and I when for restaurant week lunch. Food was very good , Service a little sketchy. I would go back I enjoyed it.
Everything was wonderful! It was my second time at the restaurant and I will keep going back so that I can keep tasting everything!
Food was very good but service was not up to par with food and price. Staff was cordial, but not fully attentive. Slow with water and drinks from the bar.
We did not realize it was restaurant week. The menu had a lot less than we expected it to have
Food and service were very good, and we will go back for sure. Noise level is very loud for evening dining. Not good for casual conversations
There was only one entree on the restaurant week menu that did not have a surcharge. I look forward to trying new restaurants during restaurant week that I would not normally splurge on and expected more from a David Burke establishment. After reviewing the menu and speaking with the server about our limited options my date and I left.
Ordered Margarita Pizza. Crust seemed steamed rather that baked.
Uncomfortable seating. Waiter not very mindful. Food was ok. Overall underwhelming. Really expected more from a David Burke restaurant
Great food and great service!
The food was amazing!! The service was equally as amazing!! The noise was just a little too loud for us! We had to lean over the table to talk to each other. I would go back BUT maybe during an afternoon when it might be less noisy...!?!
