WoodFire Bar & Grille
We are conveniently located inside the Holiday Inn Biltmore East at 1450 Tunnel Road. I-40 Exit 55. Visit "Asheville's hidden gem" tonight!
Asheville visit from out of state .
Fantastic service and fantastic food. Absolutely would recommend to anyone
With my wife. WH/SD.
Travels brought us . Super meal!! Millie was very nice . Maybe dinner again
Food is great, well worth the trip. Everything was absolutely fantastic.
I was very disappointed. Woodfire Grill wasn't all that, really. I surprised my husband, hoping for a great steak dinner for our anniversary. The reviews said this was a hidden gem in Asheville. And since I live in Swannanoa I had hoped for a nice close place to eat without going downtown. The havarti cheese sticks were tasty, but I would rather have marinara sauce as opposed to the ranch type dips that they had, and the salad and baked potato (nothing fancy) were good. But the Strip Steak was $30 and really full of gristle. So disappointing! For a special occasion I would pick something with more ambience and better food. The staff were very nice and they gave us a split bottle of champagne or dessert for free because it was our anniversary and that was sweet. But I'm not sure we will go again.
Better than average for the level of hotel but not great.
The best steak i've ever had. The hickory wood fired grill added an absolutely awesome flavor. Will go back soon to try the ribs. My sister had the pork chop. And it was awesome also.
Excellent meal in a convenient location. Surprised to find this kind of value in a Holiday Inn restaurant.
Simply the best. Food and service was outstanding.
Great food and service!
Best prime rib I have had since moving to North Carolina 14 yrs ago. It's pricey but well worth the money. Save this place for special occasions
WoodFire produces consistent quality meals and with their utilisation of the hickory grill it produces some of the very best beef meals in Western North Carolina.
Horrible! Don’t waste your time, or your money! Service was probably the worst we’ve ever had anywhere EVER! $4.00 cup of coffee they charged me for after dinner came straight from the complimentary coffee in the hotel lobby, we watched her go get it! $31 tip added to bill for a server that we had to literally beg for tea and water refill.
Really overrated, rice was over cooked, soup came from frozen pouch, meat was not tender.
I have to admit, I was hesitant to try it being located in a Holiday Inn. I’m so glad I went for it. The food was delicious! I was blown away. Our server was friendly and efficient. I highly recommended this restaurant!
A pleasant surprise and a very solid meal.
As a Holiday Inn restaurant Woodfire is a cut above most budget hotel dining and a good choice if you are staying there and don't want to drive. However, it is definitely not a go to Asheville restaurant for locals. The Brussel sprout skewer appetizer was mushy, not firm and crisp and the NY strip was ok but nothing to rave about. My companion had the burger and that was just ok too. The server, Morgan however was excellent. The bar looked like fun with guests of the hotel mingling. Again, not bad food but not worth driving to.
The food and service were outstanding. The only disappointment was there was a card on the table advertising certain bottles of wine at half price, but they were out of all but one of them and did not offer substitutions. If you don’t have the product, don’t advertise the deal!
This is a very good hotel restaurant, but not really an Asheville dinning experience. We felt badly for the server. He was very nice, but we had to ask for silverware, and spilled a full glass of ice tea all over the table my husband and me. I’m hoping he just needs a little more experience. If I were staying at the hotel I would go back to the restaurant and would recommend it for people who are staying there who are too tired to go into the city for the evening.
This wasn't bad for a in hotel restaurant. Usually we experience lack luster service and food. In this case we was surprised to find the opposite. Maybe we got lucky as we were the only ones in there at first but the server was very pleasant and professional. The food was way much better than expected. The Lamb was really excellent.
The steaks are delicious and the service is superb. Will be going often.
whatever you do, don't let the fact that this gem is in a Holiday Inn scare you. The special was a bison bone in ribeye, and it was amazing. The other main courses at our table were excellent as well. Because it is small service was great. I suspect a lot of folks shy away from the Holiday Inn part, and it is a big mistake if you are looking for a memorable meal
First time in
Started with dozen wings , the 4 of us loved them
Then we all had different main course
Trout ? Steak , pork chop , and Quesadilla
Great service and will go back next time in
It locates I. A very nice looking Holiday inn
Parking was easy
Great steak, appetizers, salad -- especially the grilled romaine. It truly is a wood fire grill and you can taste it. We had a lovely anniversary dinner there. Don't get put off by it's being located in a Holiday Inn. It's head and shoulders above the typical mid-priced hotel kind of restaurant across the board: in quality of food, service, and atmosphere.
If you want fresh bison, this is the place to dine. They serve a huge piece, it isn’t cheap but you won’t eat it all so it comes out being reasonable because you can make one or two more meals out of it. It is really fresh and the left overs hold the flavor. Nice sides and plenty of food.
They know how what they are dong. They serve Wild salmon, I hope to try that next visit.
Not very big, hopefully this will remain a secret gem.
Stopped in for a meal with friends during a road trip. Nice place with quiet area for conversation. Food was good and service was great.
This was actually inside of a holiday inn so we were disappointed as they made it sound like it was a big steakhouse. However food was great service great and good value. Would recommend
The food was very good. Small place inside a holiday inn hotel but has a small bar and about ten tables. Service was also very good. The lamb lollipops were excellent. Drinks were also great. Decent prices as well.
Was hesitant to try WoodFire because it’s located inside a Holiday Inn but after reading reviews we decided to give it a try. Pleasantly surprised by the food , service and staff. My husband had the special, a bison steak cooked properly rare. My strip steak was the tastier of the two, truly delicious. The grilled Brussels sprouts would have been even better had they been split in two to get even more char. The asparagus needed the bottoms trimmed to avoid being woody. All the staff were friendly and knowledgeable. Erika was a pleasure and informative.
A treat for us to have dinner at the Woodfire Bar & Grille. Staff is very friendly and well informed about the dishes served. A lot of the food served is local and well presented. Excellent drink selection and well made by the experienced barkeeps. If you're a NC resident you also get a 10% discount on food.
Best restaurant in East Asheville! We were served bison steaks that were so tender and tasty. Great decor and excellent service. We will be back (often)!
Wanted to try this place because I like food cooked over a wood grill. It didn't disappoint. The grilled pork chop was delicious and my wife really enjoyed the grilled trout and grilled brussels sprouts. Service was friendly and efficient and they had a nice local beer selection. Yes, it's in a Holiday Inn but don't let that put you off..enjoy the ample parking and the great food.
We read the reviews, and since it was positive and close , we decide to go. Food was excellent. My brussels sprouts with beef tenderloin was killer, and my husband loved his pork chop. Great service and atmosphere. We'd def go back.
Took a chance based on the ratings and was pleasantly surprised. Want to go out and get a good meal? Take the chance...
Nice décor, reasonably priced, good locally sourced dishes.
The service was very slow, the food was good for hotel food. The dessert was great. I’d go back just for the dessert & coffee.
We went for restaurant week, they had a great selection. Lamb chops were wonderful. I actually chewed on the bones! Trout was well cooked and tasty. I will be back!
What seems to have impressed other diners the most is that it's surprising quality for a Holiday Inn property. And I might not disagree with that. But that might be the only thing to recommend it.
We were drawn by a nice offer during the Asheville Restaurant Week. And while the meats were prepared well, they were not top quality. The soups, salads, sides and dessert tasted "corporate" and commercial. Perhaps I'm spoiled by the many creative Asheville restaurants, with the freshest ingredients and all items created in-house, but I see no reason to settle; the food did not approach that quality. This is not fine dining.
I will mention a good Malbec on the wine list. I don't remember the name, but it was the less expensive of the two offered.
The service was "interesting." Our server was attentive enough to notice that the soup he was serving me was not hot enough. I thanked him and he disappeared with the cup. And it seems he forgot to return with it - when he served our salads, I mentioned it and he apologized and brought it out. Not hot, and not worth eating. Regardless of whatever question he asked us, or comments we made, his response was "Sounds good," appropriate or not. A canned response if I ever heard one.
Please know that we love eating out and generally rave about the restaurants we review. If you're in East Asheville, there are finer restaurants to be found on Tunnel Road (at least two we've been to that are on Open Table). We will not be returning to this one.
