First checking in for reservation the Server asked name and said it would be couple minutes for table so I told him we would be at bar. 15 minutes later I asked him how it was coming and he forgot to even check us in. Waited at table for 15 minutes before being helped then finally we were helped ordered our drinks and food. Our food was delivered before our drinks then as we are cutting our steaks he asks us if we want dessert! My husband told him I wouldn't know I just started eating then the server says well I'll bring your check then and take as long as you like! We hadn't even had more than one bite-really bad serving. The food was excellent! We will be back but to be forgotten about then rushed out the door didn't sit well-We will try again though
Ate on a Tuesday night , not very busy, obviously working on staffing problems in the kitchen, Server /waitress was top drawer, she was pleasant, attentive and helpful ,but if it isn't there to serve she can't serve it!
Menu is good but some what limited to about 8 entrees?
Would not recommend at this time. Had a much more pleasant experience at the roof top bar for drinks and appetizers, but it was not open the night we ate at Woodbury's?
We had a great time ! All was fantastic
What a wonderful restaurant and dinner. We came into town for a performance at the Orpheum down the street and arrived early to try Woodbury's. We had a wonderful experience. Andy greeted us, took us to our table and chatted with us a short while we settled in; a very funny guy. Kaitlin (Caitlin?) our server was over quickly for our drink order and understand our schedule for the evening.
The appetizers were perfect in size and perfectly done. We skipped soup and salad to assure we would have room for dinner since we couldn't take leftovers with us, and a good choice. My wife's medium rare 8oz filet was done perfectly and my Ahi on a bed of lobster rice (chunks of lobster included) were delicious and just the right size. The 3 Degree bottle they suggested was excellent, and Andy's suggestion to decant it made it drinkable very quickly.
Next time we are in Sioux City we are making Woodbury's our go-to restaurant!
It was fantastic. The menus were fun and easy to use. Food was wonderful!
Staff are all extraordinarily friendly / helpful and welcome to customer feedback and requests . We had a special request for an item not on the menu and they happily obliged and with accompanying taste suggestions . The interior architecture is a stunning trip back to the 1920s Arts & Crafts Deco Glamour . The ambiance is cheerful subdued quiet - even with a large High School Prom event in an adjacent banquet area ( an experience First for us ! ) . The Wine and Beverage menu is extensive and First Class ! We ordered four different menu options and we all agreed that each and their accompanying sides were exquisitely presented , plentiful , and absolutely delicious . The Dessert menu looked very appealing but each of us were far too satiated to order from it . We will happily return - MANY times !!!
Service was extremely slow. Our drinks from the bar took 30 minutes and the waitress forgot our appetizer. The waitress told us 3 times she was bringing us bread. We never received it. We ordered a second drink. After waiting 25 min for it we finally just canceled it
My guest and I were doing a cross country drive and got into Sioux City a bit late. Woodbury was still accepting reservations so went there. The entrance to the restaurant has an large attractive bar. Servers were wearing masks which we appreciated. The table tops were oddly thin and napkins too satiny to absorb anything. Limited wine menu for a steakhouse. We ordered a bottle of a red blend called Z Alexander Brown. Tasty and full bodied. Our server struggled to open it which I attribute to inadequate training. We decided to share the romaine salad. The server was nice enough to add several anchovies for us. Lettuce in perfect shape and salad large enough to share. I ordered the small filet rare. It came nicely spiced and seared but was closer to medium than rare. My guest had the Walleye and loved it. However, the asparagus on her plate was awful. Bad taste and pale grayish green color. We got a side order of the broccolini. Looked better than it tasted. Dry and didn’t arrive hot. May have sat somewhere too long. Bread service ok but expected better bread from steak house with these prices. Final little thing, water pitchers made to prevent too much ice coming out too fast, but servers need to be taught how to dispense from side of the rim.
Celebrated my husband's and son's birthday. Had a group of 8. Our waiter AJ did a phenomenal job!! Can't thank him enough! Also the food was excellent. We all ordered different entrees and everyone's was excellent!
Great food and service. We really enjoyed the back booth.
Food was fantastic, the dining room was beautiful, and the service was great. After dinner we went up to the rooftop bar for a view that was incredible, this made our 31st Anniversary very special!
Restaurant is nice and staff was friendly. Food was mediocre and did not leave me wanting to go back. For how much you pay there are better options in Sioux City.
The hotel and ambiance was beautiful. Cole our waiter was awesome. Unfortunately the complimentary bread had no flavor and tasted terrible. The food was just ok compared to other fine dining in Sioux City. The loaded baked potato was smothered in a pound of salt we had to scrape off. My husband's New York Strip was grisly and chewy. The lobster mac n cheese was super fishy tasting so tasted like imitation lobster instead of real. We are glad we tried it for our Anniversary but likely would not return.
Outstanding food and service. My Wife’s steak was cooked to perfection and my Halibut was excellent. Highly recommended
I don't know what to say...We were in our car and on the way to the restaurant when I received a text from the restaurant saying that due to lack of staff, they would not be open or serving food that day. I have heard that the brunch is delicious and would like to try it another time. Do not pay any attention to my ratings, I had to click on something to get to write a review. Their situation that day was not their fault. Some people get paid more money to stay home than if they had a job. Unfortunately, it is the same in restaurants and businesses across America. People don't need to work because the government pays them to stay home. When a family of 4 can make $100,000 a year to stay home (New York), why would anyone want to leave there house to work!! Every day is a Saturday for them. I hope our nation gets a wake up call soon and that the steak house and other small businesses do not have to close.
Offering free champagne or dessert was a nice surprise that the restaurant offered for our anniversary. This was our first visit. Unfortunately we felt the food overall was just average.
It was goid experience. Service improved; however, servers seem to have hard time to coordinate.
There was a large wedding going on so they were extremely busy. This caused extreme wait times for both drinks and food. Then when it came time to pay the bill, the computer had gone down and it wouldn’t take a credit card, luckily we had enough cash to take care of it.
Our waitress was very attentive and friendly.
After dinner we tried the Rooftop Bar but were turned away due to overcrowding. We will go back again when it is less crowded. The food was excellent.
I believe last nights problems were due to a lack of preparedness for such a large event and a lack of help.
We love Woodbury’s. The food is imaginative and delicious, great cocktails, service is outstanding!
The service was fine but the food was extremely salty. The sides were overpriced for what you get ($9 for a little over a cup of lukewarm mashed potatoes). The green beans & carrots ($7) were too salty to eat very many. I don't mind paying a premium for great food but this was not it. We have no plans to go back.
The food was excellent. Our server AJ was professional and personable.
Food great , service great. Wish the the roof top bar was open. I guess it isn’t open till Thursday nights. Went on Wednesday night
Took a little too long to get but it was a great experience
Beautiful restaurant, unfortunately post pandemic they are experiencing being understaffed. Once they are able to be fully staffed this will definitely be a 5.
First time to Woodbury Steakhouse and plan to return. The only suggestion is a need for additional wait staff though that is a post-pandemic problem for many eating establishments. The food and presentation were pleasing! Checked out the rooftop bar and look forward to spending a bit of time there as well!
The Warrior is beautiful...The cattle heads as decor in the dining area too little...needs some type of Art work.
Great food and service
Poor customer service! Seems like employees are not coordinating very well; they seem to be lost at times; they are not willing to help; our waiter was good but new and the others did not seem to be willing to help him. His manager not very customer service oriented either; another problem is that restaurant if you call the restaurant to make some adjustments to your reservation nobody answers the phone.
We were in the restaurant on the 3rd and asked about the Rooftop bar; we were told is not open or is open only for people that have a room reservation; yesterday we asked again if rooftop bar is open to find out is open since the 3rd for people dinning at the Woodbury’s Steak House!!?? We dined on the 3rd but we were told we need to have a room to be able to access rooftop bar!!😕🤷♀️🤔
Looks like employees are confused!!
The hotel is renovated to the highest standards; food is good and prices good; however, personal not well trained regarding customer service except few waiters , poor communication.
Hope everything will improve with time!
We have gone to Woodbury a few times since opened-It has improved greatly! Last night was nice. We had great food and wine that the Manager suggested. AJ our waiter was on point as always-Thank you for a great anniversary dinner:)
Food and service were excellent! Can’t wait to go back again.
My Wife & I both ordered Cocktails before Dinner. They both were "Incorrect" ! Both had to be remade.
I ordered my Filet Medium Rare, it came Medium Well. My wife ordered hers "RARE", it came Medium Rare.
The Table they sat us at was so SMALL, there was hardly room for the Meal.
The MUSIC playing was NOT Dinner Music!
Great waiter, food was excellent
Our server was excellent and so nice and attentive and could answer any questions we had on the menu. She was knowledgeable about all the items on the menu. It was a really nice experience.
Very slow service. Took over an hour for breakfast to arrive after ordering. Food was average to below average for simple breakfast items.
This was our “2nd chance” dinner, having been there in April. At that time, service was disorganized, wine glasses were covered in water spots and my water glass had a chip out of the rim. My wife’s halibut was great but my filet mignon came out as a well done piece of roast beef.
This time, the service was better but the “new menu” was basically the same except the premium price no longer included salad and a side. Those items were an add-on for $8-10 each. My wife once again had the halibut and it was great. I had short rib pappardelle and it came out as an 80% inedible piece of fat. (Moral of the story, order the fish??)
We were so excited to see this landmark re-open after 40 years. We were hoping the dining experience would be great. However, with 5 or more better and less expensive fine dining options in Sioux City, Woodbury’s needs to up their game or they’ll be gone….. and that makes me sad to say.
Could not have been more perfect. Staff was extraordinary. Food was (very) flavorful and superb. Can't say enough. Thank you to all for making our occasion the absolute best.
Very noisy due to a wedding in one of their event spaces, which ruined any ambiance in the restaurant with the music drowning out conversation. Felt more like a bar on karaoke night. Food was good, but a little over priced. Next time the family looks for a fine dining night out, this probably won't be on our list of options.
Overall good but service a bit slow .
Family get together
Great new restaurant for Sioux City. It was perfect to celebrate our anniversary. Food was beyond awesome and service was wonderful. AJ did a great job!!!
