The restaurant has a spot on their menu for their daily special and it lists $29 as the price. My husband ordered the special and it ended up being $62. Also, the “share” plates are barely enough for 1 person. Spent a ton of money and left hungry.

Reservation was for 5:45 we should up at 5:05 and were seated quickly, the atmosphere was great and the place was empty so full attention from wait staff at our disposal. we ordered drinks and I was intrigued by and ordered the chef special which was puff pastry salmon ravioli priced at $29. You get three large toaster strudel like in shape and size. For $10 each you get nothing but a mouthful of dough and honestly at best 1-2 tablespoons of salmon inside. I was really disappointed since I could have and would have ordered the Salmon plate at the same price and received a full salmon fillet and a side. We also ordered the asparagus which was good, and the calamari also tasty. Unfortunately we didnt have a very attentive server, she only came by to drop off our food and bill. The best service all night came from our servers assistant who made sure our waters were always full, give that guy a raise! I would have loved to asked my server about our dish and expectations but to no avail. We spent $123 on one main, two sides, and two drinks and we actually left because we were still hungry and wanted more drinks but not at the price point and service they provided. The owner walked by and asked how everything was, maybe I should have said something, but my server was helping the table right next to me and I didnt want their night to be tainted by my review or put the server on the spot so I kept it to myself. Fantastic atmosphere, but execution from the FOH and the chef special will probably deter me from returning unfortunately.

The place is cute and conveniently located across the street from the Pantegeous. When we were still eating the waiter asked if we wanted anything else and when we said yes proceeded to inform us that the kitchen had closed and we only had 1 option for dessert. We would have appreciated he let us know of the kitchen closing earlier so we could have planned better. The place is cute both inside and outside where it gives a terrace feel.

We have liked Wood and Vine in the past, but we were less than impressed.(Certainly for the price) There is a certain level of arrogance when a menu says that dishes will come out as prepared in no specific order, but at 50 to 100 dollars a person I expect a chef to control the narrative of a meal as it hits the table. In this case the dishes that are clearly sides were served 20-30 minutes prior to the entree's. The carrots and sprouts were good enough, but when you have eaten them all before the proteins come, one wonders how the chef thinks the heavier courses will present. Either the chef is not in control of the dining experience or she hasn't thought through the experience. Side note they were out of several popular menu options as well, forcing several second choices to be made. It was a marginal experience with a not so marginal cost.

The location is convenient and the atmosphere is okay. Unfortunately the food leaves alot to be desire, we had the charcuterie board, the mushroom plate, and the chicken and waffles. We were going to order more food, but the two cooked dishes we were served were mediocre at best. The mushroom plate had no crunch ingredients to balance the mushyness, furthermore it was terribly under seasoned. The chicken and waffles plate was not better, the waffle was undercooked and the chicken was desperate for seasoning. The only plate we were served that was okay was the charcuterie which I'm certain all the components on the plate were just cut and placed on the plate thus no real in cooking was required.

This was the third time I have dined here, the first two times were great, services was great, food was great needless to say that was not the case this time around. First, I order the chicken and waffles the chicken was raw in the center and cold. I did not send it back or say anything because I understand once in awhile there can be a fluke and since I had two previous great experiences I let it go. The server was great but the manger on the other hand was not so great. I accidently left my scarf behind and did not realize until after we left the theater so my daughter went back to see if it was still there. She asked if she could go see if the scarf was on the chair where we had sat, they told her no that they would check. They came back and said that they did see that it was there but didn't want to interrupt the customers who were sitting there and so she would have to wait until they were done after waiting for about 20 minutes she decided to leave. I couldn't believe they couldn't ask the patron if they could grab the scarf, but they were okay with my daughter standing there waiting for 20 minutes.

My first experience at Wood & Vine was five years ago. We fell in love and it became our go-to when wanting to entertain friends from out of town. Sometime in the last 2-3 years the overall experience has changed. The menu lacks diversity or anything exciting. The food itself is unimpressive. With so many dining options in LA a restaurant can not afford to rest on mediocrity.

From beginning to end, it was one of the best dining experiences overall. As a sous chef myself, kudos on the great staff and great menu. It was such an experience that I didn't feel like I was eating outdoors. I will be returning and will beyond recommend it. One of the best New Year's eve dinners of my life. Can't wait for the next visit.

The food and drinks were excellent, service was timely. Wide range of people there so no one would feel out of place and and a short walk to the Pantages. Highly recommend the black manhattan if you are a whisky fan.

Great spot post Hamilton at the Pantages. Service was a tad slow but it was a Saturday night and everyone was super friendly, and the bus staff made sure our water was always full and our table bussed quickly. Be prepared for the food to come out when ready - which was fine for us. The portions aren't huge but for 3 of us we had 3 appetizers, one share and one side, which was perfect. The 20% service charge was fine with us.

Overall, good food; but I was disappointed about dessert. The apple raisin pastry was more pastry than fruit and the pastry had the consistency of a crunchy donut, not flaky and crisp like it should be.

Food was good. They took away the Mac and cheese I so dearly loved though. They state at the top of their menu that the plates are meant to be shared “family style” so I was expecting them to be served in a more “shareable” manner. But they were just basic sized entrees. We ordered way too much food.

Even though my date and I ordered the exact same entrees, they arrived 5 minutes apart. Server was personable but inattentive and difficult to catch. I also have a strong objection to the gratuity (20%!) being included in the check when not stated in some way up front and the service is so lackluster. I n the future when attending a performance at the Pantages, I will forego convenience—the restaurant is directly across the street from the theatre—in favor of better food and service.

First time at this restaurant and really enjoyed it. We were going before a play at the Pantages (as was everyone else) and the timing and location were perfect. We had a wonderful waiter and food came quickly. Portions were small-ish but that was good for me because most portions are usually way too big. It was quiet when we came in at 5:45 but did start to get a little louder as time went on. Most of the noise seemed to be coming from the bartenders and dish rattling and not from conversation. It was all dark wood and rather romantic and I really did enjoy it. Give it a try!

Restaurant was not crowded when we arrived and initially got seated at a table without a view next to staircase. Had to ask hostess to place us at different table - which after checking with manager she did.

We started with one waitress who started taking our drink orders then had a second waitress for the remainder of the meal. The second waitress was not very attentive.

The restaurant adds a 20% gratuity for all staff. The only reason I didn’t cross it off or change the amount was for the bus person and person who brought the food to our table.

My son and I ate at Wood and Vine before seeing Hamilton. The food was good and a few of the dishes had a nice red pepper spice, but it was the same flavor in all of them. The fella delivering the plates seemed very bothered and I had to ask him to clear the empty plates. Also, when I paid I noticed that 20% gratuity was already included on the bill. Would have been nice to have been told as I might not have checked

There was nothing special about the meal. It was ok. For the money it is pretty pricey. Went there before seeing Hamilton. Didn't like the Brussels sprouts coming out before the calamari. Service was ok. Nothing stood out. Will probably try another place the next time we see a show.

Wanted a restaurant walking distance from the Pantages as we were seeing a show there after dinner. Wood & Vine is literally across the street so it was perfect in that regard. It was a delightful experience - they serve family style so we all ordered different things and shared them amongst the four of us. The food was delicious and the service was very good, many people taking care of us and checking in on us... It was exactly what I hoped for when I made the reservation - great food close to our theater venue so we could just relax and enjoy ourselves! Which we did... immensely!!

Food was good
The service was all messed up
Server said the chef wss used to plates shared, so our individual orders came out one by one. One diner was finished by the time another order came out. WTH??
And we had 90 minutes to get across the street to the Pantages. It was still a rush to get there.
Other tables were served similarly
Will not return unless they get their act together

We tried five dishes and all were extraordinary. The standout, though was the amazing coffee infused butter that came with the pancakes. Slightly obsessed with it. The Cod father sandwich was delightful with the jam giving it an lively sparkle. The side of bacon was (surprisingly) worth the exorbitant price. The chicken and waffles were fantastic. The pancakes and french toast were good, but the compound butter they come with (coffee butter and lavender butter) really make those dishes.

I have to say the atmosphere, the people, the staff, the whole vibe itself is fantastic. Perfect meeting place for a group or a pair to meet up before the later night festivities. The food however is just not great.

Once again, our reservations were for 8:30 p.m. and the Chef's special was no longer available, a recurring theme it seems in my experience. We had chicken and waffles along with what I think was supposed to be macaroni and cheese. The latter was just awful.

I've been a fan of this place because it's such a cool, easy space in large part because of the staff who are very attentive. We couldn't ask for better. I can't really comment on other dishes as we didn't sample anything else.

This place has all the makings of being fantastic if only the quality of the food increases.

Good place to eat if you're going to a show at the Pantages. We loved the place when we walked in and our server Lexie was really attentive. The problem was that the food was under seasoned! It was cooked well, it looked great but it needed salt. We had the Ahi Tuna Tartar which was tasty, but the Chicken & Waffles and Sea Bass were a bit bland. I would say that this wasn't horrible by any means, but it wasn't really what we were hoping before our night at the theater.

Ate dinner here Sat Dec 16. Was VERY IMPRESSED - great service, excellent food and great cocktails. To keep the calorie intake down, we had the asparagus and the Brussels sprouts sides as appetizers, then as sides with the sea bass and salmon entrees.

This is our go-to place whenever we see a show at the Pantages. The arugula salad was just arugula with very little of anything else. They charge a 20% service fee (which is fine), but charge tax on top of the service fee (which is not fine). They also charge $1.50 for more for caffinated coffee vs. decaf. Salmon pizza and pancakes were very good.

Had dinner before the Pantages, no pre theatre options at all. The menu says all plates are Sharing, but just seemed like a list of main courses. Do you really want to share a piece of salmon? Food quality was good, atmosphere was ok. But then the waitress said that each dish we ordered would be served as it was ready. So one person might get their appetizer, and the other person gets nothing. I can’t understand a restaurant that can’t manage regular service. Although the food quality as good, I wouldn’t go back.

Only two of five dishes ordered were well-prepared. Perhaps they don't try too hard since they have a built-in clientele with the Pantages right across the street, especially while Hamilton is playing. We brought some people there from out of town and unfortunately we're quite disappointed. It's too bad.

The service was horrible! Since the menu indicated it was plates to share, we asked the waitress, Issie, about portion size so that we knew how much to order to share. She was clueless and no help. Drinks took forever. We ordered an appetizer and three plates to share. The appetizer came to the table last. We questioned the small size of the salmon portion and she looked at it and said it was usually larger. Didn’t offer to bring a better portion. Feel like the waitress took advantage of automatic 20% tip and didn’t care about taking care of her customers. Food was good once it came to the table but portion sizes were too small for sharing.

When we arrived the manager told us that we had his favorite table. So if his favorite table is across from the kitchen and close to the restrooms, I'll be darned. The wait staff was friendly and adequate but the food was not. We ordered an arugula salad, the special pasta and the sea bass. The salad was okay, but nothing special. The pasta was supposed to be a vodka sauce and while it had a trace of vodka sauce it was so overcooked it was not even worth eating. We left most of it on the plate and no one asked why. The sea bass was tasteless but the texture was okay and it was edible at least. All in all, we were expecting a tasty dinner and were tremendously disappointed. We were on our way to the Pantages to see Hamilton. I am pretty sure that we will not be back to this spot which is too bad, since at a better table, the atmosphere seems like it could be fun.
