Wood & Vine Ratings and Reviews
We dined here prior to seeing Hamilton. Our server, Mark, was friendly and efficient. We ordered the brussel sprouts (fantastic), salad w/goat cheese (also fantastic) and the lamb burger (delicious). It was certainly plenty of food for two people to share. The only negative was the puff pastry dessert. It was supposed to be stuffed with apples and cranberries but they were almost non existent. We did mention this to our server. I would definitely go back to Wood & Vine prior to seeing a show at The Pantages.
I was very disappointed in the food. The Brussels sprouts were the one bright spot in our meal. The restaurant’s big thing is that the food comes out when it’s finished, but our rice was cold. The “baby back ribs” were actually beef ribs. They were awful. We told our server that they were inedible. Never heard back. Still on our bill. There was no special, and our server just said, “The chef just didn’t feel like it tonight.” They were out of all of the desserts except 2. For the amount of money that I spent, I’m appalled that the service, overall, was so unprofessional. We would have had a better meal at Chili’s. We sat outside. It was chilly and I asked the busboy if he could turn on one of the heaters. Never came back to do it. The table next to us had young children who were running around all over the place. Totally ruined my daughter’s birthday dinner. The only positive is that it across the street from the Pantages where we were seeing Hamilton.
I would say the location was great since we were going to the Pantages across the street. However the service was slow and so we were rushed at the end. I did use for the first time the payment through OpenTable. I later reviewed my receipt which I didn't look at closely when I left because of being in a rush and noticed that I was charged $40 for wine. I did not have any wine. Needless to say it is my own fault for not having checked the receipt but the attention to detail and service was poor. I will not go again.
Wood and Vine is a perfect choice before a show. The food is tapas style and most plates are plenty for two. There is a wide variety of meat, fish and vegetables available on the menu and we were not disappointed by any of our choices. The atmosphere is pretty energetic, especially on a Saturday night, which was fun for us, but wouldn't be if we were trying to have a quiet, romantic meal. Service is great, friendly, knowledgeable, helpful.
People are very friendly and good vibe. Outdoor dining was really pretty with string lights in trees and plenty of heaters for cooler weather. Food was just ok, for example calimari was not crispy and flavorless. Service was off, friendly, but off. We kept getting food we didn't order. Super convenient to theater. Worth coming for an app and wine before a show.
We ate there before gong to Hamilton at Pantages across the street. It was extremely convenient and great atmosphere. We enjoyed sitting outside with the heaters. The server suggested we each order one item in the box (larger portions) and each a side. That was way too much food. I recommend you start slow then add as you eat. The food came out fast so it would be fine. We really liked the Mac &cheese and the Brussel sprouts.
After a couple of visits to this establishment, I would recommend it for cocktails but nothing more. The food was mediocre and the ambiance is okay as we were on top of the table next to us. The service was poor and definitely not worth the 20% built in gratuity (and I'm a generous tipper). Our server never came back to check on our food and I had an empty drink for 15 minutes before I had the opportunity to ask for another one.
I ate at Wood and Vine recently before a performance at the Pantages. We were seated right away (I had a reservation) and the service was good. I, however, was very disappointed in the food. We ordered the chicken and waffles and the chicken was terrible; it was a very small, rubbery piece for the price of the dish. The waffle was nothing spectacular. We ordered the asparagus and tomato side and it was undercooked and tasteless. The other two dishes, mac and cheese (good) and the best was the Brussel sprout dish. Very overpriced overall for what we got.
I always find brunch to be a great way to hangout and enjoy the weekend. Wood & Vine just launched their brunch menu this weekend. Saturday's starting at 10am and Sundays at 11:00am. I went today and tried a few things on the menu. You must get the Brunch Punch! In my opinion it is way better than a mimosa or a Bellini. It made me pretty happy today.
Salmon Toast-absolutely loved since salmon is already a favorite.
Avocado Toast-asparagus, radish, fried egg, and roasted cherry tomatoes was good, but I would want more avocado next time.
Chicken & Waffles- the waffles were fluffy and the cubes of butternut squash were delicious with the maple syrup.
Smoked Salmon Pizza-If you like the taste of smoked salmon then you will appreciate this dish.
Pastrami Benedict- My first time trying and
Pacific Oysters- Unique in that it had chorizo and green apples. Great combination.
Bloody Mary-it has a Spicy kick to it!
So come check it out.
The food was very good but it was stated as "family style" which it was not. Our main dish, the sea bass which was excellent, i would consider an average size entree for one person . the sides, which we ordered separately, were large and excellent. The service was terrible! A waitress came to us right away and took our drink order, brought our drinks then took our dinner order. We never saw her again. Our food was delivered, we never had another person come to our table without us calling to them. We would have ordered another glass of wine, but no one was around! I ordered dessert, after calling to a busboy, and no utensils were brought. I got up and went to another table and got myself a fork and napkin. I also got silverware for the couple sitting next to us as they had no silverware either. The food was good but the service was terrible. They also add a 20% tip automatically to the bill and i can see why!
Our experience was not great - the service was disorganized (long waits for things, incorrect items being delivered, out of 1/2 of the desserts and one of the chefs specials at 6:20 on a Friday night). The food was above average - but overall I would not recommend this spot until they sort out their issues. Convenient to the Pantages - but there are too many other options in the area to waste time here again.
In one word, phenomenal! The business group who dined at Wood & Vine that evening enjoyed the outdoor table with the fire pit in the middle. They loved the menu and shared dishes. This was largely a New York based group, used to eating at excellent restaurants and Wood & Vine lived up to the expectations and then some. I heartily recommend Wood & Vine as a restaurant that delivers on the quality of the food, menu selection and ambience.
First, The wait staff were fantastic. Attentive, quick. Excellent. Unfortunately, the food was mediocre and over-priced. You say you are a "sharable menu" but the portions were not family style size.
Also, we had to order our appetizers 3 times because the waitress kept coming back saying they were out of one ingredient or a other. They did kindly comp us a dessert of our choice for our trouble... but they were out of two of them...
I had the chicken and waffles and it was so bland. The waffle was soggy. The chicken unseasoned. Very disappointing. My friends did enjoy their lamb burgers and fish tacos.
We went to Wood & Vine for dinner before a show at the Pantages. It had good reviews online and we had high expectations. We were very disappointed.
It may have been an off night, but the service was awful. The bartender was friendly but overwhelmed and didn't seem to know how to work the ordering system. Several times, food ordered from those around us was almost delivered to us in error. Once we got our food, it was fine but nothing special. Slightly higher end bar food for higher than bar food prices. They appeared to have mixed up credit cards of those around us as well and it took almost 10 minutes to get the check after we asked for it.
I don't plan on returning to Wood & Vine and wouldn't recommend it.
Choose W&V bc we were going to Pantages and it's right across the street. The menu is good, however everything we ate was disappointing. We started with the corn appetizer, and it was overcooked/burnt. We then split the pork belly tacos and chicken and waffles. The tacos were okay - that's the best I can say. The fried chicken was bland, and the waffle was soft. Very disappointing. Our waiter seemed too busy, but he was a nice guy. I ordered a drink that was never brought and had to wait 10 minutes to let them know. So in summary, very convenient for a show at the Pantages, but I would stick to drinks and maybe a simple app. Also - 20% gratuity automatically built in!
We were looking for a last minute reservation before heading to the Pantages, and saw something open up here. It is VERY convenient in regards to distance from the theater, but otherwise nothing really special about it. My mother and grandmother were disappointed with almost every "shared" dish that was brought out. Service was friendly, water was constantly refilled which is nice. Food just left something to be desired.
Positives: The service was decent. The host was gracious when we were late for our reservation. The server was good although not super attentive. I enjoyed the look and ambiance. Yummy cocktails (although small and expensive). Negatives: The food was mediocre at best. I expected upscale small plates and I got flavorless and generic. The prices are extremely inflated for what it was. I won’t be coming back :(
we have been many times before on the lovely patio in back.We had a birthday party so we had to go upstars to acccomodate a larger party. We ordered drinks and everyone got theirs except me--it eventually cme after everyone was finished but the the worst thing was that we all had our food except for my husband and we had finished eating with some plates cleared before they brought his cold fish tacos--ruined the evening as we felt so bad. My son is a chef and he says that is a lazy kitchen. We ordered two fries and later they came with a third--we said no we already got our two orders...he left them saying well this is a bonus(even though we hadnt finished our two) which was nice but the check came and they charged us for three! we had to pay for the verrrrrrrry late fish tacos--my husband ate the fish out of the top because th tortillas were cold. we all felt sad and grumpy for the guy who paid the large bill
I just got a message from the restaurant saying that they wanted to take off the fish tacos which was very kind
I had requested patio seating in my special requests and mentioned we were celebrating my birthday as well, but neither request was accommodated. Apparently there was a private party, but I would have thought someone would have known about it beforehand and let me know, at least when we checked in. Why have an area for special requests, then? Other than that, it was a pleasant and delicious dinner.
We booked here as it was across the street from the Pantages. There were 4 of us: myself, my sister, and my two daughters. First problem: do not bring teenagers here as their appetitive is way to large for the portion sizes. Secondly: if you are going to impose a 20 percent tip, the server better earn it. I got up twice to find ours and our drinks went dry by that time. Water guy was great but those went dry too. This place is good for two people on a date who don't care how much money they spend. I did not find the food to be as tasty as I had hoped. The best dish was the grilled zucchini. Cocktails were also yummy. For a family, I would stick to the bar across the street.
two of us had a chicken sandwich & both had massive fatty gristle all over the chicken. service was minimal (all of us were needing water refilled) & although we were one of the only tables, the servers just hung out with each other in the bar... when they served food they handed us the plates instead of setting them down in the table & one sever spilled a salad over my friend’s lap. it was a bit ridiculous & comical. wouldn’t go again.
