Our server was very accommodating and we were able to interact with the executive chef. Excellent experience!
Nice place. Service slow. Food mostly undercooked.
They were fairly busy, so that may be why?
We arrived at 6:15 for our reservation. We were told the table was ready but our server was not, she was waiting on another party and would be 15minutes. We were seated and given water and 7 rolls for the 7 of us by a young man who came out of the kitchen. Not by the 3 hostesses stand watch at the hostess stand to tell people they didn’t have enough help to seat them.
Our server arrived to take a drink order and served them to us within 30 minutes of our seating.
She returned to take our orders, I know she was trying hard but was clearly overwhelmed.
Our first of 4 appetizers came out, the special of the evening loaded tater tots. They were frozen in the center. 20 minutes later the other appetizers came, luckily this order of tots was cooked through.
As our dinner was served our server realized she was two meals short and disappeared for 10 minutes. We waited for the outcome of the rest of our party while our food got cold. She returned to let us know that she forgot to put one order in but the kitchen forgot the other one so it wasn’t her fault. We opted to eat before our other guests not knowing when their food might arrive.
The portions were small, scallops on risotto was fine, steak tips cooked rare ordered medium, burger cooked well done ordered medium rare second order of steak tips ordered medium rare arrived barely even warmed, this was one forgotten order, another burger ordered medium well was charcoaled, the green less Greek salad was good, the chicken that was supposed to come with it arrived long after the salad was gone and everyone else was done. 2 people in the party were offered free dessert for forgetting their meals. The brownie sundae and white chocolate raspberry mousse were good. We also ordered crepe brûlée which the server apologized for forgetting to put in and a dessert coffee which she remembered to bring after the check, we returned it.
Arrived at 6:15 and finally got through our meal at 8:50.
We met old friends in Wolfeboro and stayed at the Inn. It was convenient to have the Tavern right in the same building. The waitress was very polite and friendly and she did not rush us. We were there for quite a while. The food was excellent, well prepared, nicely put together and tasty. Would return if we are in the area again.
Patty was a wonderful server; the food was delicious, great drink menu, rustic setting, fun Food truck Friday for appetizers. Will definitely be back.
Actually, we were disappointed because our food was brought to us lukewarm. We think most of our order was ready before one dish and I guess the waitress waited until all the food was ready. She was gracious and offered to get us new food. We did turn her down since we already had started eating. We don't like to waste food. Perhaps because it was Christmas the restaurant may have been short staffed.
My daughter and I enjoyed the Thanksgiving buffet so much, we opted to have Christmas dinner there. The food, ambiance and service were all superb.
We reserved a table for Thanksgiving Dinner at 5:30 not realizing the dinner was over at 4pm. The manager and chef prepared a full family style dinner for us! It was amazing! Even an entire apple pie! We couldn’t believe how accommodating they all were! The food was delicious and the turkey was so moist. A thumbs up to the new chef and manager!
Dined at the tavern on Thanksgiving, with the understanding that there was a grand buffet. The buffet closed before we arrived, so we chose from the Tavern menu. Our waitress was very busy, but did her best to give us good service. Our meals were OK.
We made reservations for their Thanksgiving buffet. It was a HUGE mistake! The food was luke warm at best & nothing was actually edible. It was supposed to have lobster in one dish but they must have been pureed because all I saw was mush. They had cheap nasty hake & fried eggplant that had a ton of wet vegetables on top. They had a variety of breads which might have been good 5 hours ago when they were first set out.But the piece of cranberry bread I got could have been used as a fire place brick. Now let's move onto the staff. RUDE INATTENTIVE & UNCARING is the best description I have for that lot. It began with the hostess who when we were called up to be lead to our table stood there ignoring us as she ease dropped on a conversation between the man at the podium & another customer and it got worse from there. Our waitress spent the entire meal hiding from her customers. She never offered us drinks after the first glass of water which actually came in the middle of our meal. She could have cared less when I told her the food was bad.. in fact she acted like I was interrupting her from getting back to her "extended break" she never even made eye contact with me or my husband. I spoke with two managers while I was there, I pointed out the DIRTY gritty nasty dishes they had set out & the fact that they were serving soup but there were NO SPOONS to be found anywhere. One of them "Veedock" I think is how it's spelled tried to tell me the spoons were on the table all the while continuing to walk & basically ignoring me. Um.. no.. if they were on the table I won't be walking around trying to hunt one down now would I ? After complaining they did bring me a piece of salmon that I couldn't choke down because it was fried in a vat of grease . Grease was literally pooling on the plate & t made my stomach turn. In short... don't waste your time or your money on this place. Life is far too short to be paying for bad food delivered by rude people
We sat in the area off the side of the bar. Some of the food was good. Some was bland. Atmosphere was good. Service was slow. Waitress was nice but forgetful most of the times. Good value though.
Great food excellent service
Food was okay but three items were delivered raw / undercooked. Had to send back. Server was pleasant. I wouldn’t recommend this placeoversll though...
We ate at Wolfe's two days in a row: Food was so-so, the noise level (especially near the bar and when there was an "event" in an adjacent room) was almost unbearable and service very poor (our server (on the second day) had constantly complained about having to serve too many tables, and we had to "beg" for bread and for water refills).
This restaurant is part of a beautiful inn. We had a great time. Good food, good service. We got a quiet booth. We’ll certainly go back when we return next summer.
It was our first time at this restaurant & we were disappointed in the food, price, & some of the lack of knowledge by the staff. We made reservations, but the hostess spent several minutes trying to check us into her computer & disappointingly sat us in the bar rather than the dining room. We had 2 very elderly guests with us, & she should have had better judgement as to where to sit us. Our waitress was very sweet and we said we were celebrating our anniversary, so we asked for a table candle & the flower vase from one of the tables. She willingly complied. However, her lack of knowledge about our beer, wine, & menu item questions was a bit troubling. The mac & cheese dish arrived lukewarm & the haddock was overdone. We were halfway through our meal when the bread was finally ready to be delivered to our table. We left on a good note because we received a complimentary brownie sundae for our anniversary! In the end, we all had a few good laughs over the series of pouphas!!
The small plates menu is outstanding and the drink menu is extensive. Had a wonderful dinner with family. All entrees were perfectly cooked and presented nicely, service was outstanding. We'll definitely be back!
We had a great meal with friends on Labor Day. Everyone had different sandwiches and sides and they were well liked.
A little on the pricey side. Food wasn't bad just needed a little more seasoning. Calamari could have used more sauce and less lettuce on the plate.
Nice outdoor seating, quiet setting overlooking the water.
The service was horrible. Had to ask the hostess after 20 minutes for a waiter. She took our drink orders and 15 minutes later the waiter showed up to take our order. Asked for water which was never delivered. Finally, my daughter went up to the bar to get us our water. The bartender Josh was quite nice and very helpful. He brought over the water and also our meals. He also comped us a round of drinks. The restaurant definitely needs a manger. The hostess informed us that there were only two waiters and our waiter was taking care of twelve tables, however he wasn’t very responsive to any of the tables—not sure what he was doing. Josh was very helpful.
The Sunday brunch has excellent food with a lot of variety to choose from. Unfortunately they were understaffed so tables weren't cleared off and our waitress didn't have clean dishes to use for our drinks etc. They were turning people away even though lots of tables were empty and just hadn't been turned over. The head chef for the brunch takes a lot of pride in what he makes and telling about the other food- he has been there for years and is great!
We’re vacationing at Lake Winnipesaukee and it was my husband’s birthday dinner. Whenever we’re at the lake, Wolfe’s Tavern is a must stop. The food is delicious and creative...there’s something for everyone on the menu. It has a great “old pub” feel while being completely family friendly. We love this place!
This was the most disappointing experience I’ve had in a very long time! Out of the 6 orders, none came out as ordere. The burgers were horrible tasting! One person liked their clam chowder. The place was virtually empty so there should have been no excuse for the approx 30 minute wait for food (sandwiches). Then to add insult to injury, the 2 people who ordered Reuben sandwiches were charged an extra $0.75 for thousand island dressing!!! Isn’t that a standard ingredient in a Reuben sandwich??!!We will not be back which is unfortunate bc years ago, it was quite a snazzy place which we enjoyed going to. Not now!!!
We were expecting something on the romantic side after spending almost $300 for a room for our anniversary. However, it was definitely more of a casual bar/tavern environment with an extremely
limted menu. It took a half hour to get our drinks and then the requested pomegranite martini was
actually a dirty martini with 3 huge olives. The waitress was very pleasant and apologized and said that
she would take care of it right away. It took another 20 minutes to get it and it was fairly close to being
correct. We had to ask for bread as we were pretty hungry by then. We both ordered the haddock, which
also took a long time. The portion of haddock was small and the potatoes and vegetables were chopped and not cooked enough. The price was average. Wouldn't go back.
The food was very good. Getting a drink was very slow.
We ate at Wolfe's twice this week and had outstanding food and service. My ahi tuna dish on Saturday night was perhaps the best tuna I have ever had. My haddock on the most recent visit was excellent as well. As usual service was great. This is really a destination restaurant. The restaurant can be very busy so it is best to be sure and reserve a table or booth in a quiet place.
not my night!
We dined on Friday before seeing Fox On The Fairway at the Village Players Theatre. Our 49th anniversary was the day before so it was kind of a celebration. Our meal was excellent and so was our waitress Patti.
Sunday brunch had a great selection - there was something for everyone. Especially liked the omelettes made while you wait. Loved the option of a glass of champagne, mimosa, or fruit juice with the buffet.
The food was great tasting and presented nicely. The service was lackluster for the prices. We showed up 7 minutes early for our reservation which the hostess was quick to point out and told me to take a seat. She said that we would be seated at exactly the reservation time. Then she went to set our table and seated us 5 minutes after the reservation. The place was not full by any stretch. There were chairs on top of tables in an adjoining room.
It took a while for the wait staff to come over. She was friendly enough but not very attentive. She took our order, brought my drink 10 minutes later. When our food arrived she asked if we needed anything. We said no. She did not check back with us until half an hour later and she had our check in hand. Didn’t ask if we wanted refills on drinks, dessert, nothing. For 3 people, only 1 person drinking 1 alcoholic beverage the bill with tip was about $115.
A Monday night dinner, small group. The trout was ok, salmon was good, flat iron steak was a good cut of steak and cooked to order well, but quite bland flavors. Clam chowder was New England style but lacking clams and bland. Asparagus over cooked. Drinks were good. All was overpriced for what we got. Tavern type environment was nice, service was friendly. Great beer selection.
Perfect as always. The bar is great for excellent service.
A tasteless cheeseburger, pizza and $ 29.00 steak. Hard to believe.
Restaurant was nice, food was delicious, many different options. Drink selection was very good. Kid friendly, staff were lovely, quick and knowledgeable.
Renovated space is not welcoming or cozy at all. Food is pretty mediocre and not cheap. I would not recommend this place.
While the food was good, the menu was a little too eclectic for my tastes. While I can appreciate putting your own spin on everyday dishes, too many flavors added...
Wolfe’s tavern was very accommodating for our large group. It might have been busy but we only noticed a long wait for food though nothing else and it came out exceptional.
