My family and I once had breakfast here and it was great. Dinner was no where near a good, may be due to Covid19. We’ll give it another try next summer, hopefully things will be back to normal.
A reliable place to eat; we sat in the pub are which has great atmosphere. The menu was reduced but there were still plenty of choices. The steak tips were the best, they were cooked to perfection and the hot fudge brownie sundae was yummy!
Beautiful lunch - thank you Very much Samantha
The tavern just reopened with a limited menu due to short staff. But there were plenty of options and everything was excellent. Servers were attentive even though they were short handed.
Service was horrible. They were out of lots of items on the already limited menu.
Food was good, a bit pricey. Dining area was outdated and drab - ruined any romantic vibes I had.
Breakfast-great menu with choices that are different but not extreme. The Irish Benedict was more than delicious. Prepared with corned beef made in house.
The food was excellent as was the service. My only complaint was that the seating did not match the height of the table. Live music was a bonus.
Food was average We had scallops which were very good but sides a bit boring,my husband loved the French onion soup..we will come back but probably just get a burger...
Our food was good, service was okay, and I thought it was a little pricey.
Love this tavern.....food was good....service good. Love the beer Stein idea...would of not have thought certain dishes would not be available by 6pm.
I recently moved to the area and found this restaurant on Open Table. I was looking for a nice set down restaurant with a variety of food options. Wolfeboro’s Tavern exceeded my expectations. Upon arriving, I discovered there was multiple areas for dining; restaurant seating and bar seating. We had the best server who was working over her winter break. We also had another server who was willing to help her out in between tables. I ordered Caesar salad which was big enough for two. The main courses were great. I tried something new and didn’t quite like it but they made it right. The desserts were amazing and the cocktails were well crafted. I will be back and highly recommend this restaurant if you are traveling, local or even new to the area.
Food: 5 out of 5

Presentation: 5 out of 5
Value: 5 out of 5
Atmosphere: 5 out of 5
Not fancy but always very reliable. Cozy in the winter!
The food has been sub par for a long time. Too bad as the atmosphere is very nice.
Unfortunately it was not a good evening 10/30. We decided to go for my birthday...
Waitress was very compassionate. I ordered swordfish which is pricey and it came out extremely thin and overcooked/dry. I was not able to eat it. Waitress even agreed and was more than willing to get me something else to eat. I declined and just shared my husbands Mac and cheese. I was pleased they took the swordfish off my bill. That was the right thing to do....but it did damper the birthday dinner I looked forward to having....
This was not a good meal. The restaurant was cold, the food mediocre and the service was awful. I have spent half of my adult life working in restaurants and always give the benefit of the doubt to the establishment, but this was not good.
The haddock was fishy smelling and none of of us could eat it. I have never sent a meal back, but this went back. I was told it would be taken off the bill.
The Harvest salad looked good on paper, but it was about a lb of greens and the vegetables were minced and sprinkled on top, not the hearty salad described.
I ordered a Pinot noir and my second glass brought to the table was Pinot Grigio, and the waiter asked if it was ok to drink anyway, since he doesn’t know anything about wine.
One of us ordered a coke and got a Diet Coke.
We ordered strawberry bread pudding from the menu and were told they were out and it was now apple.
The waiter was a mess. Super hyper, clearly wanted to leave, was not remotely professional. Left the haddock on the bill. Left dirty dishes on the table.
I did a bit of research to find a good place for a special dinner and this was a huge mistake. The host was nice and I handed her the survey provided with the check (also: a survey is a tacky thing you see at chain restaurants, not so much at a nicer venue).
Sitting at the bar and having apps and a burger may not be a bad time, but I would never recommend this place.
Fantastic drinks! Great pork chop! Superb service!
Delicious food and really nice waitress. We enjoyed our dinner.
This was our second visit to Wolf's Tavern and it didn't disappoint. The main attraction for us is the poutine fries! OMG! to die for! They're not always on the menu but if you see the poutine elsewhere on the menu they'll make the fries for you no problem. (for example this year they didnt have the fries but they had a poutine burger so we asked them to make fries and they were happy to do so.) Staff is amazingly friendly. Hubby got the porkchop and i got the mac N cheese. Both were omg delish although the pasta was way too aldente but the flavor was so good I just couldnt stop eating it LOL. HIGHLY recommend this restaurant whether you stay at the Wolfboro Inn or not. Even tho you are on ground level you really feel like you are underground at some 1800's tavern with wood beams, plank floors, highback wood booths in the back part of the dining room and beer mugs hanging on the ceiling over the bar for regular returning customers who earned them by drinking a certain # of their specialty beers (there are hundreds of mugs!). Great Place!
We had a wonderful experience! The cheese plate and scallop appetizers were so delicious! Only topped by sirloin steaks, pork chop , great wine, amazing waiter Cam! Just a fantastic experience! The only negative was the bread pudding was super tasty but very dry!...but chocolate mousse and creme brûlée made up for it! Will definitely be back!
We had a lovely dinner with friends and everything was great. Always love the asparagus fries and they didn’t disappoint. My fish was fresh and the scallops were moist and tasty. Chicken pizza was large and just spicy enough
Average st best
The food was delicious. Drinks were great as well....my brother is very picky and he didn't complain once. It was strange that they gave us some type of chocolate butter to go with our dinner rolls and when we asked a few times for regular butter the waitress kept forgetting....we never did get it. It was a wonderful evening with friends and family and good food.
We were very happy with the service. The waitress was very accommodating. Not one of us liked the food. Fish, dry; lamb chops rare; pork chop dry; Don't remember what the others had, but I do know they were not happy.
Normally LOVE Wolfe's Tavern. Food is fantastic, and atmosphere is great. Unfortunately we were sat next to a family of two couples and 7 young children. They were loud, in various states of meltdown, clinging forks together loudly and general chaos. I really felt bad for everyone around us trying to have a nice meal. But not the tavern's fault. Not much they can do about poor decision-making and bad parenting on the customers' part.
The food and service were excellent, but there a couple of things you can do:
1) If you are advertising the Impossible Burger, have it on the menu. The Beyond Burger is an acceptable substitute, but I have read it is inferior quality.
2) Get rid of all of the carpeting. In today's day and age, I cant think of a modern restaurant that still has carpet in lieu of hardwood floors.
The omelets and waffles were great, but the buffet items were either lukewarm and/or over cooked. There is a new set up for the brunch and it hindered the flow creating a long line. There were also far fewer food options than previous years.
Our waiter, Cam, was very attentive and the ambiance just what I was looking for. We both ordered the rack of lamb and it wasn't as good as I expected it to be. My husband and I ordered appetizers....the asparagus fries and the tator tots and they were excellent! Wolfboro is an amazing location. I hope to come back.
The food was not very good. I think they have a new Chief so maybe that was the problem.
Made reservation. Inn stated they never re dived it even though I had confirmation number. They were not at all helpful or friendly. In fact, the hostess was quite rude!
Found the food lacked seasoning, very bland. Our waiter seemed very new.
Phenomenal. Had met the head chef Sean at another establishment the previous night. He invited my wife and I for dinner the next night. Menu was eclectic. Preparation was masterful. Everything was perfect. Sean is a master chef who deserves recognition.
I loved the seating and view. The waiter was attentive and mindful of our allergy warnings. The baked haddock and rack of lamb were good dishes for the adventurous. We ate on the patio so beware if you have any sensitivities to machine noises as I think we were sitting over the air conditioning below. The weather was perfect so we didn’t mind. Next time we are going for drinks and dessert as they have wonderful pairings. Can’t wait to go again!
What they lack in food quality and variety they make up for in service.
The service was outstanding! Our waiter was very personable and attentive and made the dining experience very pleasurable.
Most everyone's meal was good except for the beer can chicken. The chicken could have been cooked more and was rather tasteless. The corn on the cob was also tasteless not very fresh. Portions for everyone could have been a little bigger for the three growing boys at the table.
Terrible service. Our first time to Wolfboro and it was a very bad impression. 45 min wait for a table, despite making a reservation!
Tourist trap. Best part of our meal was the on tap beer. Would not recommend.
The food was decent. Perfect for the family when it came to options but nothing spectacular.
The scallop couscous was delicious but the scallops needed seasoning. I came here with my family because they noted they are gluten free friendly and my Dad has celiac. There were only 2 menu items that were marked GF. When we asked the waitress if there were any more modifications she had to go back to the kitchen a few times. The burgers were all able to be made GF because they have a GF hamburger bun.
My recommendation is to educate your wait staff on allergies if you advertise that you are GF friendly. I would also recommend that you update your menu to include the GF hamburger buns and GF batter that you can use for the asparagus fries.
More of suggestions than a review. Poached eggs should be served all by themselves and not served over hash. Shrimp should not be peal and eat it gets messy on your fingers (the Queen would also object) I would also have a dish with extra horse radish for those that like a spicier shrimp sauce. The waffles were amazing, best ever.
