The Signature Omakase was presented beautifully and was delicious. The service was impeccable. And it was a very good value considering what was included. Thank you!!
I tried their Omakase menu. Totally worth the value and the service is great. The waiter was nice and explained the way to enjoy every dish when he brought it to the table. Love the experience. Also have a one-dollar oyster deal during happy hour.
That was a great experience to enjoy Uokuni. Food is great and service is exellent. Love to come back soon.
We had an early lunch reservation. When the tables are filled and customers talk loud it may not be noticeable, but the music they were blasting in empty restaurant was irritating. Not everyone likes Japanese pop vocal songs. They didn’t go with decor, and too destructing.
Food was just OK. Although ingredients were fresh, proportionally too much of oily fish sashimi made my mouth very fishy in the end...
Ambiance was better then the food.
The quality of fish that Wokuni provides is not fresh. My boyfriend and I are from out of town, and we wanted to try a new sushi restaurant. We saw the great reviews, and we decided why not as it was our birthday dinner. We ordered the tuna tartare, and it included raw tuna chunks, chopped avocado with very light ponzu sauce. Unlike many sushi restaurants, it did not have a quail egg on top or any sesame oil. The quality and freshness of the fish was terrible. The fish had a odd smell and the cuts were not clean and precise. When you take a bite, the chunks were connected by tissue which made it extremely hard to chew. We also ordered 2 spicy tuna rolls, and the tuna was not fresh in those rolls either. The fishy smell was still strong. However, we ordered 2 shrimp tempura rolls and the tempura was hot, but there was only cucumber and avocado on the inside with a dollup of mayo on the top of each roll. There are also only 6 rolls in each order. Our most expensive dish was the miso cod; it was $30. It included a cherry tomato garnish...Not worth the money.
If you want high quality sushi, there are many other places in Manhattan to go, and you'll get your money's worth. I do not recommend choose Wokuni for sushi.
The happy hour Arigato set was good. The set I chose included edamame, kaarage chicken and sake. Also ordered $1 oysters.
Go for their happy hour specials. My significant other and I had the Arigato set plus ordered $1 oysters. Menu selection is not overwhelming and price is affordable. The only negative experience was the seating. The booths were occupied and the hostess sat us at the table area in the middle of the restaurant. It was compact and my significant other did not feel comfortable with the small chair. Besides that, the delicious food made up for it. Thanks opentable!
Everything was just excelled. The food, the service, the whole dinning experience.
May be I expected too
Had a KAISEN DON and grilled HOKKE With my daughter.
The sashimi on the KAISEN don was so thin and tasteless. Also ordered oyster fry , was worst one I had in years!
It’s ok just for a quick lunch
I gave all 5 stars bc it was so delicious and each category deserved 5... but I would have liked more GF and organic or wild options....!
The food and ambience was great.
Wish they could take our coats though, as we had to keep them at our seats where there really isn't much space...
Everything about Wokuni was good except for the service. The servers had that special skill of continually walking passed you but without making eye contact, so it was difficult ordering drinks or getting needed utensils. Place is beautifully designed, but this took away from its elegance & coolness.
A very good modern Japanese restaurant. Wonderful sake list.
The food and service attention was extremely goodTge sushi special for lunch was incredible. However, the food was served much too fast so we felt a bit rushed.
Good food, small portions. It was loud. There was a fish auction happening during dinner which we didn't expect. A man in a fish hat started speaking with a microphone, promoting the fresh fish that day. It was an interesting experience.
Very limited menu and overall average
Everything was superb. I’d go back every single time I visit NYC. One of my top favorites!
Good experience and good food. It's a bit pricey, but actually less expensive than most higher-end sushi restaurants. Appetizers were very good, and the sushi was extremely fresh. Service was excellent. Only slight negative is that our table felt very close to the tables to the right and left, so lacked a bit of privacy.
Everything was amazing. Wanted to note my server C-tu (not sure how his name is spelt) was a terrific server and made my chef’s special omakase much better than it already was.
Very special experience. The food is well presented and very delicious and fresh. The space feels very fancy but you do not have to dress aa fancy. The servers are very friendly and helpful.
Tables are too tight. Sushi is not very interesting but it’s fresh. Waygu is overpriced for a teeny skewer.
Premium omakase was an AMAZING experience. Fantastic creative bites. The fish is the freshest I’ve ever had - brought tears to my eyes. The service is amazing - present and attentive, but not all over us. We had a lovely romantic valentines dinner here and will be back for sure.
I ordered lunch special. The sashimi was fresh. The food was tasty. The service was great.
