Better as a bar than as a restaurant. Drinks are good; food is fair
So first the pros, my wife & I loved that every table had a different fun game on it. Secondly the drink selection was impressive & fun, and everything we had from the bar was delicious. The location is top notch and the restaurant actually has parking (a couple of spots behind the restaurant). Lastly I love the menu and the way that items are presented. It's very clever and fun. Lastly the dessert was DELICIOUS and huge (definitely more than enough for two).
Now the cons. The appetizers were universally terrible. They were either undercooked (latkes), disappointingly bland and disgusting (mozz sticks), or just horribly executed (guac was just mashed avocados there was ZERO spice to it).
As for the entrees, I had the Lord of the Rings and they were passable, the best part was the spicy remoulade but then they served it with a tiny lil ramekin of the sauce rather than a decent portion, meaning I had to flag down my waiter halfway through and wait for more to be brought. My wife had the sliders and they were just ok.
Overall with such a cleverly written menu I had hoped that the kitchen was just as inventive but I was woefully disappointed.
Truly wonderful bar with great service. I had the beer sampler with wings and I cannot wait to go back again to eat them. The games were great too!
Great drinks, fun ambiance.
Our server was amazing, friendly and attentive. The food was perfect! The chicken on the fried chicken and waffles was not too oily at all and the waffle was moist and delicious! Great atmosphere and decor! definitely coming back.
No real entrees on the menu.
Great food. Really fun ambience. Really nice service and good value for all of it. Would definitely recommend! My only issues was their sangria was basically just red wine, not much other flavor to it.
It is a fabulous bar, but their food is not up to quality and their service for brunch was very slow and disjointed. I would not recommend for Brunch or for food but they have a great after work ambiance for a quick drink or a date.
I was celebrating my birthday and had brunch there. The staff were wonderfully accommodating and made me feel special for my special day!
Staff super friendly, but the food wasn’t seasoned and nothing special
This was our second visit. The food has definitely gotten worse. The drinks are ok. If not for the fun games and trivia around I probably wouldn't be back. The staff were very nice, but with all the good food around in neighboring bars, this place needs to up their game A LOT.
Great place to hang with friends and I enjoyed the food
Such a cool place
Nice as a bar, but a bit too loud for a restaurant. There was not much food to choose from (especially as a pescetarian), but the veggie sliders were actually surprisingly good (although they were served without a salad etc, which made them look a bit sad). Good place for a drink and some finger food, maybe, but wouldn't recommend it for dinner.
I feel you were not properly introduced to our small plate concept (hence the lack of sides). While we may come across more as a "bar" than a restaurant, we have had thousands of customers - families included - come here for dinner. For a pescatarian, we have a tuna tower and tuna tacos, veggie tacos, gouda mac & cheese, cauliflower, asparagus, salads, latkes, and more - including our "actually surprisingly good" veggie burgers (editor's note: they're fantastic). Please come back for a cocktail!
We had a great time at Wits End. The brunch selections were excellent and our favorite was the scrambled eggs with truffles. Server was extremely friendly and generous with our time...we stayed fairly long and he kept filling up our coffees and drinks. Also, fun to play chess! We’re definitely going back!🌟
Food was great but they served stale cake for dessert. Will return for dinner, but be sure to skip the dessert.
Alan, I am sooo sorry about your cake experience. Since you dined with us, and based on your feedback, we have literally put in place a new cake quality assurance process to ensure the giant slice of homemade chocolate cake we serve is served fresh, moist and delicious. We make it slightly differently, we are storing it differently and we are checking every piece before serving. So, thank you and, please, give us another try. Ask for me, Pete, and it's my treat! (rhyming unintended).
Food did not taste good. Service was poor.
My friends and I enjoyed a New Years Eve dinner here the other night. The ambiance is awesome. They have a ton of games and puzzles scattered in the restaurant and on the walls that really helps spark conversation. The food is pretty tastey too! Kind of like elevated bar food. Inventive and creative cocktails as well. I would definitely recommend for a casual, laid-back, fun dinner.
Worst meal I have had in many years. Went for brunch. All the food was cold and came out too quickly, so was not made to order. The hollandaise was much too thick, not a pourable consistency but rather looked like it had come out of a squeeze top bottle. Orange juice which was supposed to be fresh squeezed, was a strange neon color and tasted bitter. The french toast was a loaf of bread, served whole, not slice, and therefore the egg mixture only permeated the bottom 1/8 of the bread. Cost was also expensive for the portion size. Bennies come 2 per order, but do not come with any sides. Coffee was the only thing I enjoyed.
Julie, I am so sorry about your brunch which was-based on our previous reviews-below our usual standard. I take this feedback seriously and will have a conversation with the kitchen staff about your issues. Some clarification: the OJ is freshly squeezed, always-perhaps you're not used to that taste? The french toast is a casserole made from sliced baguettes-not slices of a loaf of bread. Everything (except the casserole) is made to order, always. Sorry to be terse - I only get 500 characters.
Didn’t feel well after eating ahi tacos.
I am so sorry you didn't feel well after having our tacos. They are one of our top sellers and always kept at appropriate temperatures for appropriate durations! We take health and safety very seriously in our kitchen. We have not had any complaints before or since, so perhaps it was a combination of things you may have consumed? In any case, we will double-check our processes to be sure the strictest standards are being maintained.
SUCH a fun spot! The vibe is lively, every table has games, and the menu is hysterical. Highly recommend!
We drove over an hour to try this place as the menu looked awesome and quirky. The restaurant was cold (we had to ask to be moved) and the music was so loud we could barely talk. We wouldn't have minded except some of the music was almost thrash metal. I'm not sure where they get their music from but maybe we're just not the right fit for the clientele they want to attract.
The food was ok, but based on the menu I expected more "flair". Most of the food seemed to precooked and reheated. I mean seriously, how long does it take to cook three small lamb meatballs... just cook them fresh; your customers will appreciate it. I know what precooked/reheated meat tastes like and it was just a tad disappointing (hot on the outside, cold in the middle). Flavors were nice though. The chicken and waffles were a hit though as was the buffalo cauliflower! We weren't horrified, and I think a few tweaks and this place could be amazing.
Love this place! Went here on a Tuesday for dinner with a friend. I ordered a flight and appetizers to share. Food was pretty good and the service was excellent (it helped that we were one of three tables that night). Definitely want to go back on a weekend for beer and board games!
Really fun place! Food was great and loved the energy.
Cool decor, interesting brunch options, but service is soooooo slow that it felt like we wasted too much time.
Food was mediocre bar style food. Bartender came over with one of our drinks to do some 'pyrotechnics' before serving it at our table. He accidentally lit the straw on fire, burned himself while trying to grab it out of the drink. He then snapped at us when we asked if he was okay saying "does it look like I'm okay". Roasted cauliflower dish came with a few pieces of roasted bread in place of the cauliflower. Asked the server and he said "Oh that's weird. What do you want me to do about it?" He did take it off our bill but didn't address why it happened.
I really enjoyed the ambiance in Wit's End. I love the clever menu. the food and drinks are great and I will definitely be back with more people!
I like Wits End and have brought a date there a couple of times. Food is pretty tasty, well presented and not too expensive. The atmosphere is intelligent and fun. GREAT drinks.
Nice service that is earnest and friendly.
The seats by the window are excellent.
I don’t usually order m&c at restaurants because it’s usually nothing special, but this Gouda Will Hunting may just be ::gasp:: one of the best mac and cheeses I’ve had. I’m also in love with their menu that comprises all movie puns and drinks named after celebrities. AND you get to play games at the table 🎲
Food was just okay, steak frites was very greasy and the marinade was very salty. The service was excellent and the place has a nice vibe. I’d give a second shot at some point.
Met up with an old friend. Everything was top notch, from food to staff!
My only regret is that I didn't discover this place sooner. The menu alone is so entertaining, we struggled to talk about anything else for the first twenty minutes. The beer list is great, the cocktails are expertly made, the decor is clever and fun, the food delicious and reasonably priced, and the staff is so chill (in a genuinely friendly way and not too-cool). I can't wait to go back again.
It was great loved the environment very fun place, brunch was good. I want to go back from they’re dinner menu
The food was SO. GOOD. Great place with a quirky style. Absolutely loved it!
Awful. Didn't have a table ready for 30 minutes after my reservation time. Had to stand in middle of dining room, luggage in tow, and wait. Couldn't make that up. Service took another 15 minutes to even come to table for our order. My chicken and waffle dish was small but would have been edible if the waffles were not seriously burned. My guest got sliders...two sliders that were microscopic. My cocktail was undrinkable as there was so much sour mix in it. All in all just terrible. Would never go back.
Amazing ambiance. Loved the games. Service was outstanding and the food was amazing and very reasonably priced! Would come back
Staff was amazing and food was delicious. They didn’t have milk or apple juice for our daughter so the manager went across the street and bought some of both.
Food was great! Waiter was so nice and the games were a great add on to an overall great experience. Also those giant Moscow mules <3
