Fresh, creative, incredibly well prepared. Service is outstanding - attentive but not obsequious. Not a huge menu (which is a plus my book) yet plenty of choices. I've been four times and can't wait to enjoy another meal there.
Only one criticism. The wine list is an amazing accomplishment. HOWEVER, the price are simply too high and not in touch with the price of an average entre.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Lodge, and Wit & Wisdom was a big part of that. Lovely setting, great ambiance and outstanding food. Even though they seemed short staffed the staff that attended us were always smiling and helpful despite the high energy needed to keep up with the dinner pace. Our first evening we enjoyed cocktails by Ken at the fire pit, then a full dinner two nights later and Gregory took very god care of us. They were behind with reservations and it took almost 30 minutes to seat us and then there were several snafus with the seating process but everyone was gracious and we had a lovely (albeit later than planned) dinner. The manager agreed to comp our cocktails which was a nice gesture. I had the filet with the duck fat fries and would order it again, and again, and again.....also recommend the parker house rolls with the ricotta honey.
Six of us had dinner at Wit and Wisdom on a busy Friday in September. The service was great. The server and support staff were very attentive and seemed eager to please. The food was really good and the Parker House rolls really hit the spot. They are known for their seafood and the shrimp cocktail was superb along with a few pizza's. Fun busy atmosphere. The one thing that was a bummer was a few in our party were running late and they would not seat any of us until the entire party was there. The bar was full and busy so just had to wait outside. Would have loved to sit at the table and order a drink and an appetizer while we waited. I know some restaurants have this policy and I understand why, it's just not so great for the customer.
Food was excellent, the endive Caesar, the petrale sole and the halibut were amazing. Good wine and drinks. Knowledgeable staff and the service was impeccable.
Great new Sonoma restaurant! Easy to get a reservation if you want to dine early.
Wit & Wisdom is the best restaurant in Wine country. We live in Sonoma and have no reason for ever having to drive to Napa for dinner.
The food, wine and service is over the top.
David & Nancy
The steak frites came out so salty it was inedible. The fries were also thick cut wedge fries not skinny fries which normally comes with steak frites. We also never got an appetizer that we ordered. Service was good but she did
Forget about the app. They ended remaking the steak and it turned out much better the second time. Overall super overpriced and disappointing.
The food in general was what I expected out of a Restoraunt of that caliber. It didn’t disappoint. My girlfriend likes to say I live in 2 culinary worlds. I like upscale fine and street food. Funny enough I got both here.
The salmon and halibut were both very well done, presented and flavorful. We loved them but the absolute highlight was the wood fired pizza. The margarita pizza was next level. I’m a very picky pizza eater and have a hard time finding any I truly enjoy. This one blew me away. Perfect crust to sauce to cheese ratio. Absolutely amazing!
Nice evening though a few of the dishes were not great for the money - including the pasta with lobster and the steak. When we mentioned the pasta was dry and not flavorful they did offer to give us another dish but instead we just ordered an appetizer, which we were charged for and they didn't take the original entree of the bill. It seems that level of a restaurant would have better customer service....
Truly wonderful experience with carefully prepared dishes in an upscale casual atmosphere. The caviar selections and preparations won’t disappoint!
It was hot, we got room temperature water and we saw our server only once in the first 30 minutes. On the other hand the olives, heirloom tomato salad and cocktails were great! Dinner was very good. My husband’s order came incorrect. They fixed it quickly. If you like watching an open kitchen this is a good one to watch. The big disappointment for us was that they changed the selection of offerings for the cheese plate. Last time we went we ordered the cheese plate after dinner with a wine flight and it was the highlight of our dinner! This time there were only three cheeses listed and nothing really unique or exciting.
Horrible best indoor and outdoor and you would think for $$$ they would invest in air conditioning or outdoor fans or communicate there is an issue.
Good service. Good fairly good and the heirloom salad the best thing ever.
Excellent service, food, ambiance
Beautiful ambiance, delicious food and really good cocktails! Service was a little slow in refreshing our drinks but otherwise a great evening out. Would definitely go back.
Was not a fan of the sommelier “proofing” the wine. I’m used to having it presented and opened table side. Instead, he opened it inside, tasted it, and brought it out without the cork. When we questioned him about it, he said “it was standard for Michael Minna, and all of the best restaurants in New York do it this way.” Well, we’re in Sonoma and perfectly capable of carrying out an age old tradition. And we know wine well enough to determine if it’s suitable.
I guess I see value in his approach, but shouldn’t the diner be given the choice? For those less experienced, this could be a great way to educate them in the subtleties of wine appreciation if this were done table side. Include the consumer in the process. And what a gift to discover a corked or oxidized bottle, learning the smells, and knowing that an unsuitable bottle can and should be rejected. Something they could use forever.
Otherwise, the food was good.
We were so excited to go back to this restaurant. I ordered the porchetta again, so delicious! The staff are always so attentive and hard working. We’ll be back again soon.
Very loud. Service was great and food very good.
Truly incredible, innovative and amazing food, cocktails and service
Destination restaurant in all of wine country
Hands down one of the best dining experiences ever. Every plate of food was phenomenal, especially the halibut as well as the filet mignon. I eat lots of steak, all different cuts from all over and the chefs at Wit & Wisdom did an amazing job and are definitely in my top 3 steaks I’ve eaten in my life. The service here was also extremely professional and above and beyond expectations. Server, wine sommelier and the GM (Justin) we’re all exceptional. I’ve already made reservations to come back again with friends as well as another time with business associates. I’m looking forward to my next visit where I’ll see how they do the tomahawk steak.
We were seated in the back room which was not very nice ambiance. It was like eating in a garage
Not a good experience
We had an amazing dinner! Would definitely come back again. Our steak was a little over cooked but that was our only complaint. Such a beautiful atmosphere and great service.
Some flies, very hot inside unusually , food good
We were staying at the Lodge and it felt like a great option to stay close and just relax with a Michael Mina branded restaurant. We are huge fans of Bourbon Steak in Glendale and have dined at his places in Vegas and in Maryland, so we did go in with higher expectations.
They have strange hours/days, so that's weird. It's cute inside, and staff is pretty casual, both in dress and attitude. Menu isn't extensive but there are some nice options. They have some very creative drinks and we did enjoy them. Food was delicious. I got a King Crab & Endive Caesar Salad. Presentation was beautiful and it was really good. Honestly could have used some more crab, but I'd still recommend and get it again anytime I saw it. Also did their Sausage and Mushroom Pizza and that was excellent.
I've seen other reviews complaining about service and I'd have to say that while they are maybe a little bit too critical, they're also not wrong. Possibly they have issues with getting quality people back post-covid, but they have a training problem. First cocktail took half an hour and not explanation. Actually had to ask food runner to check on it when he was filling water and server seemed to be avoiding us. Other two cocktails came much more quickly and the server stepped up her game for rest of the visit. It didn't ruin our time, but I know it would for a lot of people. Honestly, it would have bothered me more on some nights.
All in all, this is a solid choice, when they are open, and worth your time.
Waited 30 plus minutes before anyone came to our table to greet us. Drinks arrived after our meal. Dessert never came. Extremely disappointing for a Michael Minna restaurant not worth the price.
Excellent service and beautiful outdoor dining space!
Overall experience was terrible. Service was lacking took forever to get seated 30 minutes past reservation time. Waiter was never present. Food was lacking overcooked fish that was not edible!
Incredibly well-prepared dishes with excellent service. Our server was patient in helping us with our decisions on what to order, and the sommelier was equally helpful in choosing a good wine within our budget to pair with our meals. Ambiance was good with an open kitchen and appropriately spaced tables. The cost of our meal, including wine, was a little on the high side, but it was definitely a memorable experience.
The worst service I have ever had at a restaurant. And it wasn't just our table. A table by ours waited so long for their drinks that they clapped when they were finally delivered. After waiting forever to receive our food, and even longer for our drinks, the food was prepared incorrectly and then nothing was that good. Everything was overcooked. It almost seemed like microwaved leftovers. There are so many incredible restaurants in the area, do yourself a favor and skip this one.
Was a bit crowded but expected because everything is now back open. The drinks were great and the food presentation was nice.
Food was amazing and they have some great cocktails. My only complaint was at times the waiter would disappear and he didn’t follow up when appetizers or entrees arrived. When we first were seated, we had a missing chair and a guest at another table had to offer us a chair from their table. The hostess had disappeared. Overall, I would not hesitate to dine here again. I am taking everything with a grain of salt because the industry is just beginning to reopen after COVID restrictions. I recommend the duck wings and the steak frites.
I have eaten at several Michal Mina restaurants in both SF & Las Vegas and this was nowhere near the caliber of food as the others. This just felt like a nice every day dining but NOT indicative of a Michael Mina experience with food or service. I had much higher expectations.
Wit and Wisdom. Ambience is nice and the service is friendly. We have been here twice for dinner and enjoyed our meals both times. Without going too far down the rabbit hole here, the management team clearly cares about their customers and want to provide a great experience. I see this place getting better and better as time goes on because of that. This is not a quick dine and ditch experience. Plan to spend a couple hours and enjoy yourselves.
Appetizers were exceptional, wine a bit overpriced. Hence the star remove for value. Food prices are par for the area.
Staff was amazing. Short rib pot pie was the best! Filet mignon tasty. Atmosphere was fun and cozy. Cocktails were delicious.
I made a reservation well in advance and requested a table in the main dining room. I did not want myself and my guests to sit outside on the back patio or outside on the front patio. We arrived on time at 6:15 PM and we’re seated on the back patio. It was very cold and exceedingly windy. A heater and blankets were supplied but because our expectation was a table inside we were dressed accordingly. I asked if the people that were seated in the main dining room had specifically requested that room on their reservations and was told they hadn’t. You can understand my frustration as to why we weren’t seated where requested.
The food, drinks and service were on point.
Beautiful, cozy place with well presented, tasty food.
We loved our dinner on Saturday night!
Birthday. Crust of pizza was hard to cut w life & fork per my lover of pizza friend co-diner. oysters fresh, branzini fresh. overall very happy 👌
Menu somewhat limited. Fish entrees were expensive, small portioned and bland both in flavor and presentation. Indoor seating area was very noisy and difficult to hear one another. Outdoor area would be a better choice for seating. Burgers were nicely prepared and flavorful. Staff waiters were attentive.
I expected something a bit more upscale besides the price.
