Wissota Chophouse - Hartford
This restaurant is on the main floor of a Cobblestone Hotel. Dined there on a Tuesday night. It was not very busy. The food was outstanding - steaks were fabulous and the Chilean sea bass was very good as well. Sides were excellent. Prices are appropriate for the quality of the food. People really need to try this place!
Very good food. Great Service! A little pricey but, the food was great quality and the shareables were huge.
We had a very good meal. Steaks, chicken, and shrimp were all very good. The only downside is that the ambience is limited by the fact that is located in a medium quality hotel. Have to walk through lobby. Needs it's own door.
We had the scallops and they were amazing and good size portions of everything. Very friendly staff
Always a delightful experience. Love love love the Field of Cream beer. Hope they never run out of it. Tina is such a compassionate and professional manager. All the staff is super. Roger is an outstanding chef!
We love going to the chophouse for dinner. There steaks are the best and we always get a lobster tail too
Everything here is always good. We go several times a year. I highly recommend the ribeye or filet mignon. The chocolate cake for dessert is spectacular too..I am not a huge chocolate fan but love it. I also love the spring green salad.
It is nice to have a quality dining option in Hartford. The food is wonderful and the wait staff is very attentive. Would highly recommend it for an nice evening out.
Probably one of the best steaks I’ve ever had.
Loved the diverse menu and excellent food. Would highly recommend the Chilean Sea Bass and carrot cake!
The food was very good, definitely a place I would visit again! Not real fond of high top tables, and it seemed like a long time between appetizers and main course. But overall I really enjoyed it!!
I recommend it!!
Very amazing experience!!! Savannah and the team was awesome !!!!! Definitely will be back !
Excellent Hartford find! Our reservation was later, 8:30 p.m.. Restaurant had patrons, noise level was quiet. We were seated promptly and our server quickly arrived to take our drink order. Whenever we try a new steakhouse, we order a martini and filet. BOTH did not disappoint. Martini was perfect and steak cooked to our request. We ordered a couple of appetizers - the cajun octopus and a couple of oysters on shell. Oysters were fresh, octopus was cooked really well. We’ve only had octopus once before and it had a richer flavor, the Chophouse octopus was much milder. The drawn butter, lemon, and huge slice of Neuske’s bacon that accompanied the octopus were fun additions to a milder tasting octopus. We ordered a mushroom risotto to share, huge portion! We finished with a slice of the chocolate cake - heavenly. Service was attentive and the hotel and restaurant manager, Tina, even stopped by at the end of our meal to make sure everything was good.
Side note: When our steak knives were presented to us just before service of our filets, they were warm out of the box. I am sure it was just a fluke and they had just come out of the dishwasher, but it was a super cold night and even a silly little warm knife was a special, random touch.
Prices were a little higher than we would have liked, especially the appetizers. We do plan on going back in the summer to have some drinks on their patio. Can’t wait!
We had a great experience and excellent food
The food was absolutely amazing, and the service was great, they were quick to get the food out and it was cooked to perfection. Highly recommend this place!
The outstanding service outweighs the cost. The wonderful additions to your meal make you feel special. They ask what they can do for you and do their best to accommodate your request. Excellent food!
The scallops were excellent. The carrot cake was fantastic.
Love the food, the service, the ambience. Great place to eat.
Tried a new place, loved it! $$$$$
After being disappointed the last few times I feel that they are really on the way back up to the quality you would expect. The food was good and waitstaff friendly. I look forward to eating here again and hopefully keeps getting better and better as the places in the area are slim for fine dining.
The food was incredible! Service was good, but I could tell our waiter was stretched a little thin. It was a very expensive date, but for an anniversary it was worth it. We will be back.
I have had steak all around the world, but never like this. I tried the Bone in Ribeye with Foie Gras. It was the best steak I ever had. Also the Apple Old Fashioned was phenomenal. Every time I want a great steak, I will travel the (1) hour from Illinois to get it.
Delicious veal and pork chops. The Bleu Cheese Risotto was spectacular. Staff was conscientious about wearing masks and spacing of patrons.
Wanted the food to be so much better than it was. Brussels sprouts we're mush, no texture to them at all. Steak was okay. Janesville location was leaps and bounds better.
Wow, what a diamond in the rough. Don’t let the unassuming location fool you, this is an incredible restaurant. The food was outstanding. The service was incredible. Our server, Ashlee, made amazing recommendations, and took great care of us. We have a new place to be regulars at as of tonight. Check this place out!
Well flavored steaks. Huge sides compared to downtown steakhouses. Wines are poured at holiday with inlaws style. Great service. Will definitely be back.
It was phenomenal!!
The only place to get a steak that is perfectly cooked and tender enough to cut with a fork. Don't forget to order the truffle fries, they are amazing!
Second time and still impressed. Pleasant environment and excellent food.
We visited Wissota for my friend's birthday. We started with an Apple Old Fashioned, which was a featured drink. It was excellent! We also had the Bang Bang Shrimp appetizer and French onion soup. The shrimp was perfect! We were a bit disappointed in the French onion soup--it was ok but not special. The entrees were served pretty closely after the soup--a bit more spacing would have been good. For entrees, we ordered creamy garlic scallops and a single lobster tail. Both entrees were well presented and delicious. As a shared side, we ordered truffle fries. These were truly the low point of the meal--they were very unexceptional and mundane--bar food vs the upscale we were expecting. For dessert, we shared 1/4 piece of carrot cake...it was all we could eat. The serving was huge and the cake was astoundingly good! The flavors and textures were perfect!
Delicious food, the share-ables had more than enough servings, great wine & beer list
This was the 2nd time I've been to Wissota in Hartford and my experiences were very similar. The food was very good - this time I had a caprese salad and 10oz filet mignon which I ordered med rare. Both were delicious and the steak was cooked to my liking. The service overall was very slow which was the same challenge I had during my first visit. The servers are always friendly and for the most part accurate, it just seems like they need more help. Our reservation was at 715pm on a Saturday and the restaurant had already made it through the dinner rush so I'm not sure that could be counted as a reason. I will likely go back, however I know to go when I don't have other engagements (like a show...) Overall, for steakhouse prices, I expect top-level service as well and I'm not sure they've quite accomplished that.
Great place. Good food and service.
Great Steak and shareables. Need to add Ice Cream drinks for a overall experience
We dined a Sunday night and there were only 3 other couples in the restaurant. Our server Savanah was outstanding. Guiding use through the menu and making recommendations. Our drinks were very good along with the shrimp appetizer. We order both the lobster and french onion soup, both were average. My wife had scallops for her main, and they were ok, nothing outstanding. Since this was our anniversary, I decided to splurge for a aged rib eye steak. Although it was cooked to the proper temperature, the taste wasn't anything special, inface was one of the worst steaks I have had recently. Since we had listed that this was our anniversary, and Savanah did mention that we were celebrating something "special", we didn't receive anything such as a slice of cake. Of the other 3 couples there that night, one of them also mentioned their anniversary, and they also didn't receive anything either. Based on the price points, you would think the tables would have a table cloth or at least a paper placemat, but the table was bare. For the cost, we will never return, but wish our server Savanah well, as she has much potential and deserves to work at a better restaurant.
Always great food and great service. Not inexpensive but the quality of food justifies the price. Something different for a date night!
I ordered my rib-eye medium rare and it was perfect.
Don't always get the "Wow" factor when I go out to fine steakhouses, but had one here. Excellent steaks prepared perfectly and excellent staff & service ! Fun, comfortable, and relaxed experience was had on our first visit there. We were also given a GIANT piece of complimentary cake for our anniversary - also excellent ! Would definitely recommend to others looking for a top notch dinner complimented by proper service.
Food was fantastic but we thought for the price of the meat alone, potatoes and veggies or salad should be included. Bartender was busy serving, not 3 waitresses even tho it was not very busy, so had to wait for drinks, which we were then told bourbon had fruit flies in bottle. They did take one drink charge off for that. If service was as good as food, it would be a winner.
