Prepare for the next iteration of Tongue and Throat Memories! This time, experience Teranga: the hospitality traditions of Senegal and the Senegambian region, formerly known as Jolof.
Teranga is all about preparing food and welcoming travellers and guests with delicious homemade dishes. The most famous of these is Ceebu Jën, Senegal's national dish, which has even made it onto UNESCO's Intangible Cultural Heritage List. Although recipes vary from region to region, the dish is generally made with fish, broken rice, dried fish, shellfish and seasonal vegetables and spices.
Tamsir Ndir, a Senegalese chef specialising in West African cuisine, is our chef for the evening. A long-time advocate of local produce and spices, he draws on his grandmother's culinary traditions, taking his culinary knowledge from the northern region of Senegal to the finest restaurants in Dakar, Abidjan, Paris, Montreal and around the world.
The dinner will be accompanied by a short film screening and a discussion.
Khadija Aisha Ba, the fashion designer and founder of L'Artisane, is transforming our restaurant to allow you to experience Teranga through all your senses.
The evening will conclude with Chef Tamsir – aka DJ Tchoub Tchoub – on the turntables.
