Excellent food and wine. Small space so have to deal with noise and outdoor weather every time door opens.

Wink is our favorite restaurant in Austin. Their duck is consistently the best I have ever had! The Wink Wine Bar is also a great place to meet friends or go on a date. The wines are great and you can order from either the bar or full dinner menu! It’s our go to place!

The food preparations were good not great. We ordered from the regular menu. We did not do a tasting. The portions we received were incredibly small.

I had a $15spinach salad that was ok. For an appetizer I ordered a $32 foie gras and received 2 paper thin slices of the goose liver. For an entree I ordered Grouper. It was well prepared but the protein was about 3ounces for $35.

Service was fair. Knowledgable on food but not on wine.

I spent $250 for 2 people with tip and left hungry.

I am sure that the served us tasting portions for entree prices

I will never return

We had one of our favorite restaurant nights tonight! We have had Wink on our list for years, and for our anniversary, we made a reservation. So glad we did. Stellar service, thoughtful food, outstanding wine list. Ate in the restaurant, moved to the wine bar. We are now Winkies and will be back often. Thank you for an incredible experience!!

Good variety in menu. Lobster bisque was delicate and rich tasting at once. Salad was fresh, feta cheese and honey in dressing enchanted the flavors
Our main courses were Arctic char and sweetbreads; both visually pleasing and of excellent taste.
Dessert was a shared lemon meringue tarte with fresh blueberries, raspberries and a raspberry syrup. Delicious. The espressos were good.
Ér had a bottle of Burgundy Pinot which szűrés The metál Wirth óta lightness and fine flavor.
The Bill vas reasonable for an outstanding meal. Perhaps the appetizers were a bit pricey, the wine about 3 Times the standard retail price if one could get it, but the char and the sweetbread were less expensive than any other comparable restaurant in Austin.
The Wink was full by 7pm; it has been successful for well over 15 years and clearly it deserves much further success.

We've been to Wink many times before and have always had fantastic meals. Unfortunately this time there were a few missteps, which was out of character for them. Primarily our server, Noel. She did a good job keeping water filled, etc, but she was a bit aloof and flat out didn't listen or pay attention to what we were saying. When we came in, we asked to split a glass of Champagne to get started, for her to pour the white we brought now, and to please decant the red right away (an older Bordeaux that needed some time to open before drinking). She poured two full glass of Champagne (which we paid for). After we spent some time deciding on our order, she asked us if we wanted her to open the white (yes). But most disappointing was much later when she asked if we were ready for the red, she came out with an unopened bottle (which we thought had been opening for an hour) and then asked us if we'd like it to be decanted (yes). We were very clear in our requests - she just didn't listen. Even when reviewing the menu, we said we had some questions and we listed a few items asking for her opinion. Her response was, "so then you want the X, Y, Z...". She assumed we were just ordering. Didn't listen. When our fish came out it was the wrong one, she thought we ordered the other one. Didn't listen. It became almost comical.

On the food, Wink rarely disappoints. On this trip, the appetizers were spot on - scallops, foie gras, and sweetbreads were perfect. Due to the service error, we got to try both fishes. The arctic char was good, but slightly dry. When the drum came out, it had clearly not been made to order as the fish was lukewarm and the crust was soggy. Very surprising as Wink has always done an exceptional job with fish dishes. We ended with the antelope, a lean meat, that came out overcooked and dry at medium/medium-well.

It seems we just had an off night in the kitchen on the entrees, but the maitre'd was delightful and we'll be back.

Menu looks great when you read it, but tastes bad when you eat it. The scallops were very fishy, foie gras was cold and pairing made no sense, honey mustard salad was cafeteria level with terrible lettuce. Overall, food was not good. Service was the only good thing about the place.

We have been to Wink several times in the past few years and it is usually quite good. Consistent. They have a good wine list and plenty of by the glass options. This particular meal wasn’t bad but it wasn’t great either. I had the sole and felt that it was a bit over cooked and the flavors of the accompanying veg were a bit off. The other two diners enjoyed their dishes - scallops and the pork tenderloin. I think the service was little lacking perhaps because we opted not to do the tasting menu or maybe because it was a bit later in the evening. I’ll probably go back to Wink but I will consider more carefully what I am ordering.

We celebrated our Anniversary at Winks and it was outstanding from the moment we walked in till we polished off our amazing desserts and paid the bill. One of the best meals and dining experiences we have had in a while. I had the 5 course tasting menu and my husband had 3 different courses off the menu, ever bite was fantastic. The service was top notch from the host to the server. Can't wait to go back and go back we will very often. Do yourself and a love one a favor and go to Winks.

We did the 5 course tasting menu with wine pairings. The food was tasty but rather unexceptional which is not what we would expect for a $250+ meal. Probably will not repeat the tasting menu/wine pairing experience for the price vs what we received. We agreed after leaving that we would have had a better experience ordering from the dinner menu.

With all the epicuriosity that seems to have invaded Austin, wink is the constant: genuinely welcoming proprietors, locally sourced, lovingly curated wine list, and a lemon meringue desert thing that will leave you crying happy tears of lemony joy.

My only gripe was the appetizers tasted a little bland, but not that bad, and that was really the only low point to an overall excellent dining experience. The entrees and desert were fantastic. The restaurant, while a bit small, didn't have any issues in terms of bumping into elbows or waiters/waitresses or having to try to shout over the noise. The waitstaff was excellent and very attentive.

I could rave about Wink for hours! In the OpenTable reso, I put that it was his birthday. The manager/maître d' called me that morning to find out his name and confirm the reso. When we got there, they had printed out individualized menus with Happy Birthday, N___ on them, and even had a separate copy signed by all of the chefs in an envelope for us to take with us! Additionally, the amazing server (wish I could remember her name- Heather, maybe?), offered to substitute one of the dishes off the 5 course menu for one on the 7 course that he wanted. Having worked in fine dining restaurants for 2 decades, this blew me away! Chefs NEVER want to substitute, but they did that with not even a moment's hesitation! I did the 5 course vegetarian tasting and he did the regular 7 course tasting menu, and the food was simply perfection. There is literally nothing bad to say about this amazing restaurant!!!

We LOVED our experience with Wink. The staff was incredibly accommodating and friendly. The chef was more than willing to make subsititutions for dietary needs. We even received a personalized menu, wishing us a happy anniversary, signed by all of the staff. Definitely a repeat next time we are in Austin!

The service was the best I've had in Austin. Amazing in every way.

The food was amazing, as was the wine paring, but the price was hight for Austin.

The setting and decor were odd and there was no one there (although it as a Monday night).

I'm not sure if I'll prioritize going back because of the ambiance--the decor needs a face lift--and the price.

My wife and I went to Wink to celebrate her birthday. The staff made things a little more special by printing her name on the menu and providing a copy of the menu that had been autographed by the chef and others from the kitchen.

We went with the 5 course tasting option with wine pairings. The wines were perfectly paired with each dish, but we wished we got a bit more information about the wines as they were served. All of the food was excellent.

The noise level is quite high, but it is a small and active dining room.

I can't say enough good things about Wink. The tasting menu was superb- just the right amount of food. The place was welcoming to everyone- men in shorts and women in cocktail dresses. We were celebrating a birthday and they really understand that the attention to detail makes a difference.
The kitchen did have some consistency issues- the crudo was perfect- a great combination of taste and texture. The next course was a scallop dish that took far too long- beautifully seared on the outside, cut through the middle and seemingly only cooked on one side. At first I thought that they hadn't finished cooking it and then I appreciated the "crispy to more rare". Next was a duck breast- could have come back just for that. Last main was a hangar steak. Rare. But it didn't feel intentionally cold. Not in the league of the other flavors. But who can say no to a warm chocolate cake with a swirl of cream.
We will be back.
