Overall the food and service were terrific! Even with the coronavirus issues going on, the staff were very professional and genuinely interested in seeing that we had a good experience. Our only complaint -- and it's a minor one -- is that the spinach salad had a very sour taste to it, apparently a combination of the dressing and the pressed apples. The duck and flounder entries were delicious!
I think the waitress/owner over charged us for things we didn’t purchase, just to make extra money.
Great food, good service. Definitely on the pricier side if you go pri fix but a good choice for a special occasion
Wink always delivers. Exceptional cuisine, thoughtfully prepared and full of flavor and texture. We come every year for our anniversary and it’s an experience we look forward to all year long!
Insane. My girlfriend and I have never had a fine dining experience until this valentine's day when we ate at Wink. We were completely blown away with the 5 course chef's tasting. As each dish came out we were more impressed than the last. Thanks for the amazing service and world class food. Cant give this place any more than 5 stars which is disappointing. A huge thank you to our amazing waitress Noella for helping us and working around my girlfriends shell fish allergy!
The food was good, but the five course meal left me and my wife still hungry. Wine pairing was a nice touch but the cost for the amount of food and drinks seemed too much. We sat along the wall opposite the door, which is opened often as they shuttle food from the kitchen to the wine bar. Our table was a little cold due to this. Wait staff was nice and attentive.
We go to Wink for every valentines day evening and it's always a treat! Great staff, food and wine. Definitely recommend for a fun date night!
We went for Valentine’s Day which is not the best night to dine out unfortunately. Food was good but dinner was rushed, tables were super close together and noise level was high. We had the 5 course tasting menu with wine pairings. Sometimes the food was brought to us without a complete explanation of what we were eating (mostly when someone was helping out regular server). Not worth the high price tag.
The atmosphere in nice, service was ok, but a little slow to start. Food is over priced and bland. Our salads tasted like lettuce basically. The vinaigrette or other ingredients did nothing to elevate it. The salmon was about the same portion as the starter salad and was undercooked. And again, somehow bland a flavorless. The two baby carrots and three baby brussel sprouts had more flavor than the salmon. Absolutely not worth the cost. Super tiny portions, food that's cooked by a chef that I can only assume can't taste anything and prices that do not match. Like the salmon filet was about half the size of the filet you can get from Trader Joes. Less than half of what I've seen from just about any other restaurant that serves salmon. The sides were a similar portion if not smaller, combined. We left hungry after eating out meal which was $142 after tip for an iced tea, a glass of red wine, two starter salads and two salmons, all of which we could have made much better at home with little effort. (We skipped on desert between being disappointed with everything up till then and seeing from other tables it was like two bites worth of food.)
The do a tasting course with wine. The wine is good (probably because they don't make it there) so if you are one of those people that can be won over by really good drinks and you think a high price tag makes for good food, maybe you will be fine. But I don't ever plan to go here again. We go out for a nice expensive dinner like at least a few times a year where we expect the bill to be $200+ but we expect some great tasting food. This is probably the most disappointing experience we've had doing this in 10 years of being together. Go somewhere else.
Waitress was very helpful! Appetizers were great. Liked the scallops and salad. However, the snapper main dish was tough, hard to chew and I wasn’t a fan of the way it was prepared. The lamb was good.
Looks like the place needs a remodel.
Great food and service
we had a special occasion mentioned in our reservation wifey birthday and was not recorded was disappointed about that !
We've been going to wink for over 10 years. We just celebrated our 25th anniversary. The food and service is simply wonderful. Thank you!
My reservation was for 7:30pm on a Saturday. When we arrived the hostess told us they were running a few tables behind so asked if we wanted to wait in the bar area. We said that was fine. When we went to the bar area it was equally crowded and no one acknowledged us for 15 minutes. Finally someone took to a shared table and took our drink order. After approximately an hour the hostess came to tell us we would be seated shortly and they paid for our first round of drinks. After another 20 minutes the hostess came back to tell us we should come over to the restaurant in another 5 minutes. When we got back to the restaurant it was another 10-15 minutes to get seated. All in we didn’t get a table until after 90 minutes. While the staff was polite it was a ridiculous wait with poor communication all the way around
Wink provides one of a small number of tasting menus in Austin. The food was pretty good - although for the price point it was lacking.
However, the wine pairing + service was next to horrible. What I mean is that our server didn't know anything about each of the wines, other than each one was "one of his favorite, and very balanced." When asked where one was from, he said "It's either Russia, Switzerland, or Germany."
The quality of the food + wine vs the price point is simply not worth it. Which is a shame.
We are leaving Austin for Boulder and very sad we never heard of Wink until now. It ranks in the top 3 restaurants we have been to in Austin for the last 3 years. Entire experience is what we have been looking for in an Austin restaurant. Don't miss this place!
Food was excellent and dishes were unique. Unbelievable service in a nice quiet atmosphere.
Four of us went to Wink to celebrate one friend's birthday. Wink staff made sure that the event was special including message on the menu, free tipple of rose champagne and special dessert. Beside the extras, the meal itself was delicious. We tried and highly recommend the 5-course tasting menu. Presentation was gorgeous and the tastes and textures supreme. Haven't been to Wink in several years but plan to go back very soon.
Great little find. Noelle our waitress was super and provided great insight to the wine selection. Desert is a must !
First of all I like that this restaurant doesn't advertise itself: it is by the "word of mouth" that you can discover this gem. Being there many times, and the consistency of the quality of its food is perfect. Never been disappointed and always appreciating something new in the menu: the new additions are always in line with the style of the restaurant: creative combinations of all the ingredients never just to "show off" but to provide new sensations. Excellent and friendly service. I know the restaurant recently celebrated its 18th anniversary. I want to be there when they will celebrate its 30rd anniversary!
Food and service were great! Will go back. xxxxxxx
Flawless, every course, every service. The flavors!!!!
You need to go here. Tough to choose the best course.
Sadly this trip our food was not as good. It took almost 1.5 hours to get our food. The steak was cold in the center. We had to grab multiple waiters for things we needed a our waitress wasn’t too attentive. We were there during a busy time. We had better service on our previous visit. I will say for the price the dishes are quite small.
Would have been 5 stars but for the half-hour wait for our a table. That said, waiting in the wine bar next door was a pleasure.
Great atmosphere and exceptional food & service! An Austin treasured dining experience, been coming here for years and always pleased.
Excellent food...be sure to do the 5 or 7 course meal.
Sadly this restaurant seems to have gone downhill a bit over the last several years. Trout was dry and tasteless. However, Grouper was done perfectly. Service was very slow.
We live the food was delicious tha k you
It is very loud !
Bit pricey for the menus
WINK always delivers great food but the pacing was really off tonight compared to previous visits. Not sure if it was the kitchen or the inexperienced server. Nevertheless, everything was well-prepared and on point and the wine selection was excellent.
I had a wonderful experience at Wink. The chef’s tasting menu is sublime, and they have the option for wine pairing. The ambience was personal and the service was great! I highly recommend Wink. It took us a minute to find it tucked away (in retrospect not really hard to find)
Another great dining experience at Wink. (Except for a 6-top of loudmouths, who seem to be unavoidable these days, even at upscale restaurants. Whatever happened to manners?) Our salad and entrees were imaginatively conceived and perfectly executed. Though the dessert menu at Wink rarely varies, the offerings are reliably delicious -- sticking with winners is a good strategy. My entree (beet-encrusted flounder) was the best I've ever had at Wink, which is saying a lot because we've dined there dozens of times in the past 13 years and entrees (along with everything else) are almost always excellent.
We chose to eat at the wine bar (full menu) because of the vibe and music and are so glad that we did. Jen was a delight. Everything that she suggested was on point from the order in which the food was brought out (Hamachi before the mussels) to the wine pairings. The mac & cheese is definitely worth the calories and dessert is a must (Trio). t was such a lovely experience, we can't wait to go back and bring friends.
Second course of our 5 course was substantial delayed. Two wine top offs on our pairings was nice.
The food was exceptional. I loved the tasting menu choices. The wine suggestions were great-complemented the food nicely. Friendly and hospitable staff!
Excellent quiet dining experience with amazing food and good wine. Our server, Tim was very knowledgeable, helpful and professional individual. We ordered the 5 course Chef dinner experience and absolutely amazing, flavorful experience . We plan on going back.
Our waiter Tim was fantastic as was the greeter at the door who organized our seating ( some in our party were early and some a bit tardy. All in all it was a lovely New Years Eve dinner!
Food and service were great. We did the tasting menu with the wine pairings and everything was delicious! I even loved a few foods that I wouldn’t normally order so it was fun to branch out a little and try new things!
Wink is one of my "go to" restaurants in Austin - the food is consistently very good and the staff is attentive and gracious and knowledgeable. This time we were joined by some foodies from Dallas who were equally impressed. When our friend exclaimed with glee over the Amuse Bouche that was served, they brought him three more at the end of the meal! I generally order the duck entree because it is always cooked perfectly - and always with a new twist on a sauce to accompany. Great wine list, too!
Perfection every single time.
Our newest tradition of going on Christmas Eve!
