Chef’s toasting menu paired with the wine selections was beyond amazing! Whomever is cooking and pairing the wine with the food is excellent!
We celebrated my girlfriend's birthday w/ the 7 plate tasting. Outstanding!
Fernando greeted us warmly. We tried the tasting menu, and it was wonderful. We especially enjoyed the wine pairings with the food. We had a very nice evening and definitely will return.
My wife and I made reservations at Wink while on vacation. We did the 5 course tasting, she absolutely raves about the meal - the chocolate cake has made appearances in her dreams since she tasted it. As for me, I requested a vegan tasting and they knocked it out of the park with making sure there were plant based options. The staff was very attentive, our water glass never went below half full.
We spent a night in downtown Austin and wanted to find a very good restaurant. WINK was the answer. It was outstanding. My wife had a salad and foie gras and I had scallops and duck. Everything was just excellent. The menu changes nightly - and there is also an option of a five course or seven course tasting menu. Somewhat out of the way - a non descript small shopping center - Wink has been among Austin's best restaurants for 18 years. That is the hallmark of a chef/owner who understands food/wine and service - a wonderful combination. Worth the trip. You will not be disappointed.
We had a delightful dinner! Lovely waitress, Emily, delicious food, intimate atmosphere and
you could hear! Definitely recommend!
Always a pleasure. The staff is amazing and so attentive and helpful. Such a cozy comfortable feel when you sit down.
One of Austin's real hidden gems... been around so long that people forget how wonderful the food is.
We had the 5 course tasting menu! And everything was more than wonderful from the food to the staff!!! Can not wait to go again! Don't forget to visit the wine bar as well!!!
Wink is like no other restaurant in Austin. It’s an amazing experience of delicious food, amazing staff and a culinary delight! I feel so lucky to have a place to go when we want to celebrate our birthday’s or anniversary. Wink is special.
Food was incredible, service was impeccable. Everything was perfect for our anniversary dinner!
Had an amazing time celebrating my friend Tyler's Birthday - awesome touch with a Happy Birthday wish typed on the menu. Emily was amazing and knowledgeable about the food and wine pairing. She went into detail and went off the grid on a few things to make a better dining experience for us-she is AWESOME!
Hands down our favorite restaurant. Always has been and always will be.
We arrived a bit early, so were shown to the wine bar while Wink seated a large party in the restaurant. The bartender comped our bubbly, in honor of our anniversary. We had only been in the bar a few minutes when we were taken to our table in the restaurant. A delicious amuse bouche was served promptly. We sipped our bubbles for a while, then ordered the same items: lobster gumbo and grilled tenderloins. The gumbo was tasty, then things fell apart. Our tenderloins which should have been done to medium and medium-plus were beyond well done and dry. We ate the entrees, anyway, but were extremely disappointed in them and let our waitress know. She comped them, and a dessert. So, service at Wink was great, and most of the food was excellent, but we would rather have paid for properly cooked beef than to have eaten free, dried up beef. Finally, we had a bottle of wine with our meal, which arrived at our table at well below room temperature (unless it had been kept in a dungeon). It took a long time to open up, despite a lot of glass-swirling.
The tasting menu overall was exceptional. If we had to say anything, while delicious, the duck could have been cooked a little less. Still an amazibg meal
Fantastic tasting menu. They made a special event out of my friend's birthday with a personalized menu and custom dessert sampler with a candle in the menu.
We hadn't been to Wink for many years and were eager to try it again. Unfortunately, although most of the food was very good, the service was appalling. From the minute we entered, the person who greeted us, and ended up being our waitress, was condescending in the extreme--for no apparent reason. (We were four middle-aged, well-dressed, and well-behaved adults with a lot of experience at high end restaurants all over the world.) She was very young and very poorly trained and somehow seemed to think she was doing us a favor by waiting on our table. We remained polite and positive toward her and it was kind of funny how bad she was (one of our guests said he'd never felt so condescended to), but it got old fast. Another server in the room kept trying to sweep away unfinished dishes that we were still sharing and when we asked her not to, she got really snippy. The foie gras and duck breast were both excellent, as was the dessert, but the hamachi was mealy and one person's was slightly rancid. We had been hoping to reconnect to an old favorite but we will definitely NOT be back. The noise level was also unpleasant and made conversation difficult. The restaurant was maybe half full, so there was no reason for them to rush us at the end, but they were stacking chairs at 9:40!
We chose wink to celebrate our anniversary. The food and service were excellent; however, there was a table of six next to us that were yelling at the top of their voices. The noise was so intense we were miserable and couldn’t wait to get out.
We enjoyed the 5 course meal, and everything was delicious. Service was great!
Outstanding. The food was delicious and beautiful to the eye. I wish there had more lighting. I used my iPhone light to admire the presentation before digging in.
I mentioned an allergy to Tumeric. The chef redid the spices for me without hesitation rather than recommend an alternative choice.
The foie gras was very well prepared. The duck breast was killer.
Wonderful anniversary dinner. Our first time in Austin. Absolutely delicious food. Did the tasting menu and my wife did the pescatarian tasting menu. The flavors and complexity of each course was truly an enjoyable experience. One flub was having a piece of lardon in my wife’s scallop dish. I found it to be a nice addition but as she does not eat meat, it was not a welcome addition. The restaurant was very apologetic and gave her a glass of champagne on the house. As we were leaving the chef and sous chef also came out to apologize and then gave us a gift card for a return visit. It was nice to see them take their cuisine and presentation so seriously. I highly recommend this place for food and service.
I was disappointed to see that Wink has foie gras on their menu. I would think many Austinites who might eat at Wink are knowledgeable about the animal cruelty involved and would be opposed.
We go to Wink for our wedding anniversaries and for a Christmas Eve meal with the family. Great food and service to match.
We had a wonderful evening, great food and perfect wine pairings, awesome service. We couldn't have asked for more.
We had the 5 course with wine pairing and everything was amazing. Everything they brought to the table was my new favorite dish. Service was great, personal and timely. Great experience.
My wife’s birthday. They make it special and personal
Don’t judge a book by its cover! Tucked in the corner of a strip center next to a dry cleaners. Hard to spot at first. Luckily our Uber driver knew the spot! We’re from Houston where there are tons of excellent restaurants but I think this was the best meal I remember having in a long time! We got the foie gras, duck breast (my husband said it was the best duck he had ever had) & venison. Everything was delicious!! Perfectly cooked & exactly the right size portions. Small & cozy which makes it loud but still outstanding! We’ll definitely be back!
Modest, very well prepared portions
Grouper over hand made bucatini was outstanding
Wine selection by the glass was broad and only slightly overpriced for Austin
I would return to eat again at Wink the next time we are in Austin
Great alternative to the barbecue landscape
This is a small, European-style restaurant in downtown Austin. Good wines and good food with personal service.
My daughter suggested wink since I’m rather new to Austin. Unique dishes, intimate size, fabulous wine pairings with phenomenal tastings. A favorite from now on, to be sure.
haven't been to wink in a few years but it felt very overpriced this time around. we were not seated for our reservation until more than 30min had passed...and no offer of anything given the wait. Our server was great.
Food and service were both great. The only negative is that it was pretty loud.
Excellent food, great service. A little loud but the food and service far outweigh that minor issue
We did the 5 course meal with wine pairing and one 5 course without the wine. The food met our expectations (high) with interest and diversity and lovely presentation. The first course was a hamachi fish with lemon. I can't fairly judge this course as I am not a sushi eater so will move on. The second course was scallops grilled with a slight spice in a walnut oil drizzle. There was a sweet/sour sauce with loquat seed also. These get a 5 Star! The third course was duck perfectly done, tender and moist and served over a bed of lentils which were the most flavorful I have ever eaten. Must have cooked in duck broth. Excellent. The fourth course was hangar steak, very good, but the star of the course was oddly a sweet potato roasted with skin on. The flesh was silky and creamy and the skin crispy with made a unique comparison. Very well done dish. We had a combination dessert which included chocolate on one side and lemon on the other. Being a lemon lover, the candied lemon on top of the lemon curd was a perfect ending. Wine pairings were all on point and traditional with courses. The meal was well complemented without being used as a "test" for new and unknown varietals. The service was professional and unobtrusive.
Everything about the meal was delicious; from the salad to, the entree to the dessert. The wine pairing was excellent as was the service.
Duck breast was excellent. Small dining area made it a little loud but not bad.
Whenever we are in Austin we always have dinner at wink. Throughout the years Wink has never disappointed.
Portions are small, food is good but not outstanding, over priced, menu is limited
Food was fabulous. Service was fabulous. Noise level was fabulously low!!!
Wink is a hidden gem. Tucked away off Lamar Blvd, you can find amazing food and wine. I always do the 5 course chefs menu meal with the wine pairing and I am always left more than satisfied. Not to mention the chocolate cake that they serve here for dessert, WOW
Space is nice, the service is top notch and the food is well presented and tasty
