Wined Up Wine Bar Ratings and Reviews
I was really jazzed to go here and catch up with my boyfriend after work. The most notable part of the evening was splitting a bottle of wine, which was rare as my boyfriend and I have very different red wine tastes.
It didn't seem as if there was a host/hostess - it took me a bit to get seated despite being nearly empty on a cold Monday night, and the servers rarely came to us. The server got our order wrong, and we had to remind them of the second half of our order.
The food was ok, but there is better food to be had in NYC.
Mainly go here for the wine.
Loved the two wines we drank. We tasted them before we decided on them. I got Sancerre and my husband chose Chenin Blanc. We also ordered gaucomole ( great) and chips, edamame and white bean and pita.
Cant wait to go back. We might just stay for dinner. The food menu had enough to chose from to be satisfied.
food and wine -- menu and list, respectively -- very good...interesting without being weird and the quality terrific. The space (upstairs a flight of long and carpeted stairs) is British-barlike, attractive, though many of the tables (in rows) are squeezed tightly next to one another. The crowd is mostly 30's, 40's, but also older wine-interested people, a nice mix. We went for dinner, but it would be a great spot for just wine and cheese/charcuterie, and healthy apps too.
I made a table reservation for 10 for Thursday, December 22, 2016 at 7:00 pm. When we arrived there, there was no table, they reserved some chairs on the Bar. They said “we have a private party and the bar is all we have”. It seems they have a pattern for disregarding reservations and not calling customers to notify. Food was average, so overall very poor experience.
I had come here for a date. We came around 6:30 pm on a Friday. It was quiet until 8 pm then it started to bit crowded but still very decent. It is modern, delicate, beautiful during Christmas with the lighting, darkness. Very romantic.
Food and service could not have been better.
Happy Hour wine and wine bar food options were excellent.
The wine bar above the main restaurant has a welcoming and current vibe with a comfortable-casual ambience. A perfect spot to unwind, relax and converse for a while.
A small group of us went here for a few drinks to catch up. The most standout memory of the night was how hot it was in the restaurant. I know it was abnormally warm for the night but it was uncomfortable sitting there - I was actually sweating. The wine was good but the cheese plate was lacking... all in all, it was a fine night but I likely won't be returning.
Loved this spot! Accommodated a large group for my birthday, and staff was understanding even when we were late due to bad weather and traffic. Had some great cocktails, and everyone loved the ambience and food! Only complaint was the upstairs bathroom was closed for maintenance, and my turkey burger was a little charred, but the sweet potato fries are to die for. This was a perfect big group location - even with 15 of us it was quiet and personal. Could see it being adorable for a date as well. Will be coming back to try more wine and dessert!
We went for a celebratory occasion. One of the downsides was that the mark-up on the wine felt a little too high for the actual value of the wine selection. It was disappointing that the Ravioli dish was sold out, which a couple of us were really looking forward to having. Regardless, the salmon entree was delicious.
Again, we went for a celebration, and as soon as I arrived the server thanked me for hosting the celebration at Wined Up, and offered to deliver us a dessert at the end of the meal. The dessert which typically comes with ice cream, was substituted with whipped cream, and they charged us for the full value of the dessert. Also, he knew we were a small group, and the kitchen wrote I love you instead of something more personal or simple. My request for something personal was denied, and so we ended up with I love you. A simple fix could have been to have transferred the dessert to a different plate and either start over or not write anything at all. As the person who arranged the reservation, it looked like an embarrassing move on my part, especially since our server said that it was from me. To be honest, I felt that the dessert should have been comped, as we all had an entree per each person, multiple appetizers, and a bottle of wine for the table. Especially the brownie wasn't the best part of the meal, would have been nice warm.
Otherwise, all the food we did order was delicious. If you're looking for impeccable service, I would say it's fair and relatively good service.
This wasn't for dinner but just a nice pre-dinner stop. Don't go by our food rating since we didn't eat but were required to enter something. First - the bar is on the second floor -Punch, the bar on the first floor is way different. Wined Up has a nice relaxed vibe and cool decor. The bartender was charming and gracious. We drank a bottle of Chalk Hill Chardonnay for an absurdly reasonable price of $51. We were there early (6:30) and stayed for an hour so not sure if things change in the pandemonium of a NYC Saturday night, but we certainly enjoyed ourselves. Great music piped in as well.
If you care about nothing else than chatting with friends in a noisy environment this is the place for you. The food, wine, surroundings are marginal. The wait staff nice but haphazard in the way that comes from poor management. There are much better wine bars around. The place can fit a larger group if space is needed.
A wine bar with a very limited amount of wines by the glass! hmmm
Food was good, not great but the service was inattentive. Our waiter was more interested in chatting at the service bar than paying attention to us. He also forgot to put in our dinner order which caused us to miss an vening train home. Nothing like being in Penn station past midnight
Our waiter took our order. Brought us a glass of wine and disappeared. A server brought us mediocre food (braised short rib special which was so tough it was like chewing leather) and we never saw the waiter again until we had finished eating. Then he showed up and asked if everything was "good". A bit late and, no it wasn't "good". I would never go back. There are too many other options!
Me and my partner went to Wined Up for the New Years Eve prix fixe dinner. We were the first guests to arrive and were greeted very friendly by our outstanding server. The food was excellent for the price and the ambiance was very nice. Soul music made for a romantic atmosphere without distracting from the dinner conversation. The decor with a huge wine shelf is tasteful. Overall a very good experience.
did not know what to expect as i climbed the stairs - but was delighted with everything. plenty of bar space and lots of table configs. food is a good fusion of cultures (asian & mediteranean) - plenty of great choice for wines by the glass. staff friendly.
The website claims to have over 3,000 wines but for our visit the "winelist wasn't ready", so we used the more limited version on the food menu. That was fine for our needs and has some pretty good selections. Waiter was happy for us to try one before we committed, which we did.
Great nibbles from the tapas-style page at the back of the menu. Blue cheese and prosciutto crostini was excellent.
Main courses were very salty though - fried rice with duck almost too salty to eat. (Duck was a little overcooked.) Pasta too.
Was quiet on Saturday night, but we were there early and left before 9pm.
Service was attentive and friendly. Nice place.
went with a friend for happy hour, unfortunately, happy hour is only at the bar! no happy hour drinks if you have a table which sucked because there were no wines by the glass under $10.00 on the regular menu. but the food menu was pretty good. calamari was personal favorite.
