Wine Market Bistro Ratings and Reviews
This place is amazing. My fiancé is still talking about it being the best meal he ever had. We had to rush out of the restaurant as my fiancé faced a medical emergency and even through all of that the staff was extremely supportive and helpful. I've told everyone I know and we will continue to patronize this establishment for as long as it exists. You're doing yourself a disservice if you don't visit this place.
I wasn’t the biggest fan of the scallop app during restaurant week but overall this restaurant is awesome. It was my second time dining here and it’s now my favorite restaurant in Baltimore. Lots of unique flavors and food pairings. Wonderful wine list. Would recommend for a date night!
My wife and I tried them out for restaurant week and everything about the meal was excellent. Easy reservations on open table. Service was great - the right amount of checking on us but never overbearing. I had the scallops/lobster and my wife got the beet salad as our first course. For our main dish, I got the braised short rib which was quite good - tender and juicy, with perfect seasoning. My wife got the trout which came with an egg salad type base - she liked hers as well. For dessert she for the bread pudding with ice cream which was good. I got the dark chocolate pave which came with a caramel tasting crunchy base - it was excellent, especially with some coffee. We'll definitely try them again. This is a place I'd highly recommend, especially for restaurant week. They didn't seem to skimp out on anything like other places tend to do for restaurant week.
Went to the Wine Market for brunch and was expecting to be blown away but a few of our entrees were lackluster. Not enough seasoning or a complete lack of flavor. Our waitress was great and the overall experience was good but I can’t get past the lack of seasoning on our food. Such a nice place should have a good chef to match or at least that’s what you’d expect as a patron. My 4-Star rating is because of the service and not the food.
Very happy with the fixed course menu for NYE. Terrific value for all 4 courses. Rockfish was some of the best I've ever had. Wife was extremely impressed with the greens served with her beef. Very intrigued with the vegetable starter.....taste was good, texture a little out there with the gelatin.
We have been to the Wine Market Cafe several times. The atmosphere is low key smart casual with the industrial rehab look. The server was well versed with the menu and so helpful. The food is excellent although the two vegetarians with us had to get creative as most of the entrees are not veggie. I had a steak salad that is always on the menu and just great—-my wife had a lamb burger with really good fries that I snarfed. My mother in law loved the arctic char that was a special —and she is the ultimate food critic........it was served with polenta. A few squash soups at the table looked good but maybe could have been a bit warmer—-the server quickly returned with a hotter bowl for one of us. The bread pudding dessert and a sorbet were also perfexr with the French press coffee served after dinner.
Sadly we are not wine proficient but the extensive list and the ability to buy wine bottles to go
Home at 15% off at the time of dinner is a real plus.
A really nice place to have a comfortable dinner with foodie type wonderful dinners at what seams like really moderate pricing.
Service was efficient and polite. Chicken breast and tile fish entrees were great. Olives and Brussel sprouts starters were a nice change. Because of the snow, the space was not as crowded as usual, so it was easy to converse. Free parking is another plus. Good wine selection, not so for beer . They only have craft beers, so you take your chances with brands you never heard of.
A group of 5 of us went to Wine Market for a friend's birthday. The space was beautiful but not too stuffy. We all loved everything we had! Our one friend is vegan and she struggled a bit finding an entree she could eat, but she was able to order a few vegetable sides to create a meal. The cauliflower was outstanding! The wine was great and well priced.
We had a couple of issues that I don't think are normal for the place. There were six of us dining. One meal came out and was brought by someone other than our server. Some time went by and our server noticed that no one else had their food and she went to check. Then another four meals came out and I was told mine would take a few minutes more. The issue was the four other meals that were brought out after the first one must have been sitting in the kitchen without a warming light and weren't very warm when presented. My food eventually came and the server apologized several times. Places have some blips, so all-in-all, we didn't say anything. It wasn't until the next day that I completley scrutinized the bill and realized a $42 steak dinner had been added to the cost. When I went back to discuss this, the manager said the server had told her about that during the day and she was aware. She readily refunded the money. So, not a great experience overall.
A sure favorite for our family. This most recent meal reminded us why!
The service is prompt and attentive. The starters our great and you great have a good meal if you chose 2-3 of of them alone. We had "king pao cauliflower, roasted brussel sprouts and fried oysters. We all agreed that they were among the best we have had anywhere!
The main courses equally did not disappoint. The rockfish and short rib special were great and plated beautifully as well. ( though we thought the pomegranate glaze on the short rib was creative it was a little too sweet). The roasted chicken was cooked perfectly and was so tasty
A perfect way to end such a good meal is with one of the made in restaurant desserts or Taharka Brothers ice creams.
Though we did not avail ourselves of this option the attached large retail wine store is sure to have a bottle of wine to pair with your meal and can be purchased at a discount as well
WHAT'S THERE NOT TO LIKE ABOUT THIS PLACE?
I have eaten many times at this restaurant and enjoyed the food, service and menu variety. However, I would not recommend this to anyone considering lunch. It was shocking. No effort was put into the menu, and the food was poorly prepared. I presumed that for a Sunday brunch one could expect more, but apparently not.
We went for brunch, we had 5 people in the group, it was not crowded. The menu had a great set of items to choose and we all loved every part of the meal, would recommend to anyone. We also used the discount in the wine market after our brunch to purchase more wine. The food was excellent, the service was outstanding and we were very pleased with the lovely decor.
I loved everything about this place. I drove up from DC to meet a friend who was in Baltimore on business. The wine selection is great, the food was fresh, the service was superb! They offered a delicious prix fixe dinner with paired wines. I think they offer it M-Th. I'll definitely be back. Especially loved the fried oysters app and the lemon tart.
We have dined here on numerous occasions and always been pleased with both the food and service. Not on this night. Service was slow. Our entrees didn’t arrive for an hour.
What we had was terribly disappointing . My wife ordered the “special” a steak dinner. The strip steak was barely edible. Nothing but fat and gristle.
I ordered a pasta dish. It was bland and tasteless.
I’m not sure if it was a bad night or something else, but we’re not going back for awhile.
The braised short rib dinner disappointed since it was not very tender. It had a consistency similar to a steak than the typical shredded beef that one would expect. However the mussels appetizer was superp. The honey graham ice cream was uber delicious. The most noteworthy experience was our server, Kelly. She was so friendly and attentive. She had a wonderful sense of humor to boot. She was a delight.
We hadn't been in about a year, and it seems to have gone downhill. We just ordered bacon and egg breakfasts, shouldn't be hard to do. My bacon was burned on the ends. The hash browns or home fries (or whatever they call them) were greasy and tasteless. It wasn't very busy (which is also a change), yet we kept looking for the server, especially when we were ready for the bill. I don't think we will go back anytime soon. Disappointing.
